I’m not saying Itachi was able to kill Madara, and just didn’t, but killing Madara was never an option for Itachi, regardless of their strengths.

he would have still died in shame cause he’s the uchiha clan killer. who knew madara was alive? a few people, it’s not like itachi would have become a hero if he killed madara. remember what itachi wanted: the truth of what he did to be hidden from sasuke. safety of konoha. sasuke to be seen as a hero. all of this could have happened if he had the power to kill madara so that madara couldn’t tell sasuke what happen. what did itachi do when he died??? he ‘tried’ to kill madara by planting amaterasu in sasuke. why did he do that? cause he couldn’t kill him in a straight up fight.
Or it’s a plothole. Maybe we’ll get an explanation. If it’s only the S/T jutsu that’s kind of weak to not at least try.

i know i’m replying to an old post, i’ve been out of the forum/thread for a few days and it seemingly blew up; however, since the theory fighter seems to be on strong at this point in regards to itachi vs minato. minato space time teles itachi’s amaterasu, just like the kyuubi blast. that’s that. now as far as his other genjutsu and such, we know that minato isn’t dumb by any means so why would he knowingly look at a sharingan user - itachi specifically - in the eyes? now before anyone says “but itachi was still a youngling etc”, assuming he (4th) didn’t death god himself and was alive to see itachi’s growth, he would know itachi’s shtick. now tell me, why would the guy who completely hammered the one person itachi couldn’t fuck with, instantly, run straight at itachi wide eyed and ready to get jobbed?

edit: also, isn’t it common knowledge the actual madara had the mango sharingan? it might be safe to assume that minato could plan for a mango fight. or at the very least, when itachi killed his entire clan with the help of madara/tobi one would think that since minato already knew about tobi claiming madara and being in that cloak, that itachi would have mango as well since he’s in the cloak guild.

Itachi probably made a packed with Madara that he’d chill with him as long as he didn’t touch Sasuke. Similar to what he did with Konoha. He just didn’t trust him so as soon as he “broke the deal.” He tried to kill him and not before. Remember Itachi has a twisted methodology.

The fight with Blackage verse Dat Sauce was very important IMO, when looking at Sharrigan verse non-sharrigan user fights at a high level. Sasuke has laready proven to be more skillful with amaterasu than Itachi, and we saw how using it as a projectile was nigh useless against the Blackage. Sasuke isn’t a heavy genjutsu user, but he DOES use it, yet we don’t see him try it on the Blackage at ALL. In fact, the majority of times I can think about - Genjutsu has been used as a long ranged - premeditated attack, NOT something you do in fast combat situations. Itachi spent his energy…well being a ninja - and avoiding those situations, but if you take away his ability to ‘preptime’ that shit, I’m ‘curious’ as to how fast he can actually get an effective genjutsu out. NONE of the MS techs out there even appear quick, and require a ‘trigger’ from the user that manifest in a physical form…maybe something as small as closing one eye (leaving that side open to counter attack) or something more significatn like Sasuke actually covering his eye with his hands.
Am I saying that the 4th BEATS Itachi? No, I’m just not going to pretend like Itachi’s genjutsu would own up the 4th.
And judging by the fourth knowing of Madara, and in that much intimate detail, I’d be mnore surprised if he DIDN’T know about Amaterasu and Susan’oo.

i thought blanka was stupid, and in comes superstupidblanka. do you actually READ the manga or not? itachi was dying, and even in that state he was still top 3. he took medicines and what not just to prolong his life long enough to give his lil bro MS & EMS. his duty was this, and in the meantime protecting sasuke and konoha as a double spy. for somebody who was supposed to be dead a long time ago, he did an outstanding job. in fact i doubt any other nin could have pulled off what he did. and im not even talking bout the sharingan related shit.
on the genjutsu note, the way itachi used it was way more impressive than what anybody else has shown. dudes normal gen was on the highest level, instantaneous and he could even cast it from other parts besides his eyes. unlike tsukiyomi which required him to be in MS and possibly a third or so of his chakra. but unlike other genjutsu its unbreakable. and if hes already got his MS active its pretty much instantaneous. if you dont know about it your fucked. all ps3got
lastly (ps3 wont allow longer messages), its pretty ignorant to think that the 4th knew about MS jutsus. he deduced that it was madara cause of all the points the 4th mentioned. nobody ever controlled the kyuubi cept madara & hashirama. combined with all the facts the 4th mentioned its pretty easy to see that he guessed right. what i dont get is how you concluded that this automatically means that the 4th knows about MS jutsus. i doubt he did, and he was actually pretty damn lucky madara put that big ass genjutsu on the fox first. if he fought the 4th first hed at least would have been able to use other high level jutsus. the fight would have been different. thats what you get for underestimating baby jesuz, A.K.A. the 4th.
