they should give him web hammer and let it otg or give another move like web zip but about the same speed as it is now slightly faster that not only otgs but pulls the opponent to spiderman, kinda like spencer… better yet lets not :lol: I want something new so lets stick with web hammer if you cant combo from it solo at least make it like zero’s dive attack where you can time it with an assist and still combo that would be cool. Though this game needs more people who can combo normally off their own otg instead of the few that they have.

Edit: To clear up on confusion I mean non meter non xfactor type continuation, even if it is just an extra air combo thats still straight

I could see a web hammer actually! He has something similar in Shattered Dimensions so why not add it to UMVC3? =)

Web Hammer sounds good to me. . I was surpised the web zip doesn’t OTG but spencer has something similar that does. . with a faster web zip we could see some new mix up opportunity with air combos

Yeah I would think it would have done the same but its cool that it doesnt. Spiderman is always an in the face type of character so web zip moving him closer to the opponent is awesome as far as being close to the character source and when spidey does pull people in it is actually to throw them so web throw is on point as well. Web Hammer is used rarely in the comics it should be more often but its not the same as how it was depicted in Shattered Dimensions. It was more similar to how UWT acts seeing as it used an opponent, usually a thug, and swung them into other villians like a sledgehammer.

So really I’d either be happy with the Shattered Dimension web hammer that causes OTG that allows for solo follow up if done from the air or if on the ground causes wall bounce with no hard knockdown (like Joudan kick), or the original web hammer that picks them up from the ground does one flip but can only be done in the air that causes ground bounce (thus leaving UWT as is) or make it where it only flips them into an otg state but change uwt to an attack and allow comboability through ground bounce and less recovery afterwards. Honestly I still think web throw needs to be mashable again to allow more damage.

It’s really too bad they stuck with a lot of the classic move-sets instead of going to back to the drawing board. Spidey’s move set as a base is too archaic. They could have done some much more fun stuff with him than what essentially was a shoto-moveset in MSH.

yeah they could’ve gave him a new hyper or special move. pretty much everything Spidey in MvC3 is recycled from MvC2 :shake:. Its not horrible, because I still main Spidey, I just wanna see something fresh and new with him.

I mean it seems archaic but it’s really not. Spidey in the comics doesn’t use his webs as weapons. With the exception of the impact balls (web ball for the game) he is almost always using the webs for tying people up throwing them around or for mobility. He’s a melee fighter and it shows. Personally I think his normals should have changed to be more versatile to match him doing whatever a spider can

Not really it never really has had any uses. Even when he had the ability to cling to walls it did nothing to help his game.

Sorry guys, he’s low tier now, and he’s goign to be low tier in umvc3.
Why? u might ask.

  1. the range in his normals are shit with the exception of his low sweep, but that has stupidly slow recovery.
  2. He might be getting some small buffs, but pretty much everyone is getting buffs (except the top tier), compared to the buffs Ryu and captain america are getting, spiderman’s buffs will simply keep him low/mid tier instead of complete shit.
  3. The new characters are insanely good. Have u seen Dr. Strange?

We need to start a petition to get spiderman better range on his normals, especially his low medium, low weak and standing weak attacks. As it stands, he is going to be left to the people on this forum, and never see any top 16 action at evo.

I highly doubt all that yeah hes been hurt but not as bad as being low tier.

He might not end up being hurt that much. The web throw scailing and no tec on web ball are nerfs for sure, but the former had to happen and that latter, well alot of people didn’t use that tech anyway. I think (hope?) that his speed boost and web move cancelabilty should counter balance the nerf to hitstun on web zip. We also might find out any number of stealth buffs/nerfs aswell who knows maybe spider sting will get some priority and spidey will have a good assist. Let’s stay positive!

I always thought he was mid tier. I still think he’s mid tier. I think he’ll stay mid tier.

I love spidey, I main him, hes my front man on my team but i’d have to say he’s mid tier but with a good game plan and assist he can create frustration and get in and cause some crazy damage and with faster web based moves and cancelation from web move to web move, I think we’re looking at some really good things coming from Peter Parker.:rock: Matt C. said it best. lets stay positive

uwt needs to start up faster and have some invin (like shulk’s) if it’s supposed to be a good read/anti-air option also have a better hitbox cause lol at it not covering the entirey of the web it fires out. as of now it’s only good for DHCing into, which is kinda meh unless you got an otg assist ready to roar

otherwise unless he’s significantly faster i think he will go down in tiering because he won’t be able to crank out as much damage as before due to the web throw scaling. a big part of why he’s upper mid tier isn’t only because of his mobility and tools (which are pretty decent), but also because he hits like a mack truck. as of now i think he probably just moves from upper mid tier to like low mid, depending on what stealth buffs he gets and what adjustments to his hitstun scaling/combos happen. since according to nitsuma damage didn’t really decrease across the board, spidey will definitely lose points for that.

but i’m an eternal pessimist so whatever, maybe spidey’s new mobility and pressure will let him be much more dangerous than this iteration. all in all i’m still pretty excited by the prospects of spidey being able to cover his advance and pressure with his own moves.

Yeah I agree with a lot of that Post. Spider-man was one of those characters that you had to build your team around to be effective. But if you made the decision to build a team around him, he was pretty much 100%s left and right.

Spidey in the right team has 2 good mix up assists ( or one good mixup assist, and one unblockable assist) , a 100% if they touch you, and a ton of mobility definitely was perfect for me no matter what the tier list put him at.

It’s ok though, I’m at a point with MVC3, in which I’ll play him no matter what happens to him. If the new characters prove to be better teammates for him then I switch them, but spidey stays.

Also, some of the original spidey changes seem to be very up in the air and open to changes. I get back to the States Sunday and I might make a nice bullet styled changelog, but It may be too soon. Either way keep this thread a live, because it’s going to be the perfect place to come to in a couple months.
