web throw to the corner, web ball, uwt dhc otg super for the most part equals death

I do rarely. One for hard reads when someone jumps to damn much or when I do a :l: Spider Sting without the :h: followup for a reset. But OTG is the more easy and common direction to go with because it starts as a combo and then it’s a reset it’s all about damage.

does nobody do self setups from a regular ground combo then? i really hope the new ability to air roll from web ball doesnt fuck it up completely in Ultimate. only time anyone has ever escaped it was the guy was mashing so hard he got cap ams airdash to come out and hit me out of it.

well it’s not just cap thats able to air dash out of it. from what ive seen, she hulk, cap’n, ryu, akuma, and chris have dashed out using the glitch. everyone else has there own ways about it. the easiest setup is one web swing rep s:m: s:h: xx :l: web ball xx UWT

yea i know its part of the universal airdash thing, might have to get myself in the lab one day to see just how easy it is to escape after teching forwards or backwards as well. part of me thinks that teching forwards wont quite get them behind spidey in time to avoid it.

has anybody posted anything on whether web throw TK MS still works?

It’s not about avoiding the uwt they can tech forward and tap :l: to knock spidey out of it.

Its easier to do, because spiderman throws them higher now, giving you alot more time to TK the Maximum Spider.

really considering nemesis/spidey synergy as the first stuff I want to develop haha. nemesis has some nice looking abilities.

How bad is the scaling on the web throw now? Slight? Heavy? Is it a worthwhile option in combos even though it’s confined to corners?

Noticeable enough to get you upset about it, when compared to the vanilla webthrow. I was still using it because I didnt really know what else to do with the new spiderman in terms of combos and most people on the stations just wanted to win so I didnt want to just give up my spot by trying crazy things out.

I dont really know what to think of the new Spiderman. being able to cancel web ball into webzip basically gives Spiderman his own assist, which is amazing, and hes all over the place now, but with the loss of damage and the UWT resets I’m losing some faith in the character. I just hope there’s stuff we don’t know about, and that they fix some of these nerfs.

i guess its really wishful thinking that you could cancel the recovery of web throw into web zip as well?

im 99.9% certain the answer is no but that would be something to behold if it were true would it not?

losing the dmg isnt too bad considering how much faster spidey got. i was playin him yesterday @ the fight club, being able to cancel his web moves into web zip was crazy. also the speed increase on web ball and web zip made him annoying to land a hit on. i dont think spidey was nerfed too hard overall also it seems like unlike most characters spidey health wasnt changed at all

Having got to play A LOT of UMVC3 at EVO I’ll throw in my two cents.

His speed increase on the web moves are pretty insane, especially the web zip. Although the nerf on Web Throw’s damage scaling was really noticeable, especially when I asked to test out the five WT combo we all know with Sent and Doom assists, his ability to rush down is better as long as you aren’t carelessly throwing out the zip.

On a side note, doing two naked Crawler Assaults in that build, one just without pressing anything and another with piano-ing as fast as I could (mashing basically to increase damage) had a noticeable difference in damage. Not sure how bad the mashable damage would scale in one of his longer BnBs but I didn’t know many good combos that led to CA anyways so I didn’t really test it.

(BTW for those that usually runs a Spidey/Dorm, they are still friends =) not as good of friends as Wolverine and Akuma before they had falling out but the synergy is still there. MS > SF still gets you three dark spells. Rahsaan was right about Spidey and Doom synergy too, those two are almost meant to be with both having FF outfits now!)

Am I the only one that doesn’t care about UWT resets not being as practical? I just used the damn thing for hard reads and was happy at that. I’m keeping faith in the character just because we found SO MUCH SHIT in a matter of 6 months that I think we can still discover a lot more with this new version of Spidey. Hell, I’m STILL finding new things about Spidey EVERY DAY I GET IN THE LAB.

I don’t think anyone should really mind TBH. UWT Reset was unnecessary with the best Spider-Man team setups anyway, he does insane damage with or without it. It’s a nerf but not really a huge one IMO. It already was basically for only catching people asleep at the wheel.

Since web ball has pretty decent durability and all, I like this self-assist thing he’s got going on. It could potentially lead to a lot of tricky frame traps. Can’t wait to get my hands on it again (once it releases T_T).

Anybody got any teams they want to try? I’m keeping Spider-Man and X-23 but I am probably gonna ditch Iron Man (he’s less Magneto like by getting flight combos :confused: ). Need someone in the swing spot, looking at Hawkeye, Ryu, Magneto, Doom, Dorm, and maybe one of the unrevealed if their assist/DHC synergy can fit the bill eventually :p. Leaning towards Hawkeye right now, just pending DHC viability. Triple Arrow is a crazy good assist, and the character himself is pretty interesting.

Uwt itself wasn’t nerfed if anything it needs to be buffed. Web ball is what was nerfed by being able to tech out of it. Stops his mixups from web ball which is a nerf to spidey. As for uwt itself if they made it an attack instead of an air throw, cut down on the recovery from it and gave it ground bounce, even after using spider sting, and drop the damage to between 200 and 230k then it would be worthwhile

It might just be my playstyle, but I never found web ball useful for mixups when it comes to not being able to tech - I’m genuinely uneducated on its uses in that situation. I mostly used it just to have it out on the screen, it’s decent durability, for the UWT reset when I felt lazy, or for faking the UWT reset and then going into a L Spider Sting x Bite that would catch an opponent trying to escape a UWT reset.

I’m being serious when I say I don’t know what mixup(s) it’s good for when it comes to not being able to air tech out of it, not trying to be a douche lol. I currently find his mixup to be ass by himself, since high/low is so easily negated in this game as opposed to left/right. The way I play, the majority of his mixup comes from the assists he has backing him up since he’s fairly easy to deal with alone.

Being able to cancel it into zip sounds better to me but again, I’m not an expert when it comes to web ball based tech mixups. Maybe you can enlighten me or point me in the direction of a post/YT about it? I’m always looking to improve.

They didn’t nerf anything about Web Ball when it hits someone who’s grounded right? I’ll be REALLLLLY upset if they be taken my unblockable setups away.

It’s okay its not just you that thinks/thought that. I thought that at first then messed around with it. You are right it is assist dependent but depending on the team and your creativity limits it’s usefulness. I could make a video based on mixups but that’s such a nitpicky subject video that I don’t want to waste time making it for people to debunk instead of constructively critiquing it to help others.

Why would they nerf web throw? this is a guy who shoots webs to swing on building, I’m pumped about the faster web based moves and being able to cancel from one web based move to another. . I dream of a Spidey OTG;)
