found stuff today. it’s not new. when I was messing with the corner air throw set up off of l spider sting I tried throwing them backwards instead of into the corner because hitting the otg there is just to unreliable. the combo off of the back air throw puts them into the other corner. I thought that was funny.
and I know we don’t need another person to say it but umvc3 spidey > mvc3 spidey
Zucco gave me more stupid mixup ideas, lol. Think we can use standing Web Zip for a left-right mix-up on an opponent entering? Use an assist like Dark Hole or something that will hold them in the air for a little while but won’t keep them in the corner, then pop that Web Zip with a flying something or another. I’ll look into it tomorrow.
Getting a hit in is SOOO easy this time around!!! @___@
I’d also like to mention that I feel getting the opponent in the corner is more vital this time around. Our hi-lo mixups become much more versatile there.
Thank you for the compliment. I finally got it to work, sorta, since otg webzip j.H is a pain for me in that combo i just replaced it with j.S, I found that j.S seems to work better in my BnB too since I can put 2 web throw L in the combo instead of one nets about an extra ~30k, it’s not much but I’ll take it.
Also:
Why is this so? From what I’ve seen if you cancel from Spider Bite you can easily go into full combos, not to mention in longer combos this ends up being a really good way to reset, along with the fact that you can cross them up when outside of the corner.
Actually it is possible to OTG web zip in the corner… You just have to drop really low first then use an air attack with faster frames than jump C… Jump S works for me. That said, I agree that its probably more practical to build the habit of airthrowing away from the corner.
By and by, has anybody been able to get OTG webzip from air throws off SUPER jump height? I can’t get it to work =\
Got to try out the game tonight. I’m loving the new spidey.
All my bnbs are in tact, and are MUCH easier.
jS cM cH L web swing jM jM jS cM cH L webswing jM jM jS sM sH spider sting xx spiderbite into either:
Wesker OTG, L web ball, UWT, wesker OTG, L web throw into MS
or
call drones, launcher, jM jM jS into drones, and H webthrow into MS
The first part of the combo worked midscreen. In vanilla I had a harder time timing the second webswing string.
The 2nd part worked only in corners,
Wesker combo was pretty much a guaranteed death and that was without MS.
I didn’t mess around with the OTG webzip at all. Never had an opportunity except after an airthrow.
I think his spider sting had a bit more height to it.
Webthrow into TK MS is sooo much easier.
Overall he seems slightly faster.
When in the corner, comboing from an air combo don’t jump forward, jump straight up. The pushback from the normals will put you at the perfect position to land web swing zip cancel for the OTG. Assuming you are doing a long combo a fast assist needs to be there to catch them. So far Chun is working great for that, havent tried rocks or anything else yet but I just got 746K off one bar using Chun assist
So after playing this game all day trying to understand the new Spidey I came up with this:
He is a completely new style of character and I like it :wgrin:
Like a good character he has options, with his new ability to cancel his moves it definitely opens up things in his gameplay. Spider sting/bite is going to be a whole lot more fierce this time around. Also if people don’t know how to do it now I suggest practicing how to TK his web swing as it will help with instant overheads and zip cancelling from them. Honestly I thought the damage levels were going to irritate me but with one assist and a simple bnb Spidey can still average 700 to 800K damage depending on your assist. Today I wasn’t too focused on creating new stuff as I was just trying to understand where his strengths and weaknesses will be. Not being able to block out of air dash is not a bad thing at all, well it is considering Spidey holds his web longer now (those fuckers must have saw my posts ), but seeing as you now get to cover yourself and pretty much destroy pushblock attempts I say it’s a fair trade. Because of how he moves now it helps in hiding those air dashes when using them for cross up attempts. As for weaknesses, he can still be blown up if impatient due to his low health. There are also angles he has a hard time defending against so I would advise finding a team that would cover him in such occasions. Overall though the fact that he can convert damage almost anywhere with his team and now he’s faster, I believe he will be seeing a lot more play from people who are serious about him.
Xero, what position are you playing Chun in on your Spidey team? As you know, I’m also an avid Chun player and I tried to use them in Vanilla and it just didn’t work out with her in the 2 spot. As an anchor, she gets lamed out really easy (although in Ultimate, her buffs to Tenshokyaku allow her to have ridiculous chase and the ability to punish just about anything in the game).
I’m wondering if you actually have found something I haven’t that makes having my other favorite character on the team viable. I already know how amazing the Legs assist is for combos and lock downs…just the DHC synergy is not there.
I’m kind of having an identity crisis with what I want as my last character. If Chun works, I’ll take her, otherwise Strider and Doom are going to keep fighting it out for the 3rd slot after Hawkeye.
Edit: Her in the 2 slot with your combo allows you to combo into Kikosho…and considering Doom is the best character in the game to pair up with Chun…yeah so I guess Spidey/Chun/Doom actually is a viable team.
If anyone has tips on Spidey’s Mission Mode OTG zip trials, I’d really appreciate it. I was only able to pull off the first one. (Can’t remember the #s).
for the trials I just did a quick hop forward and zipped. Personally all the trials are dumb. They aren’t that hard but they don’t allow shortcuts like air dash or anything else. It has to be exactly how they say  anyways as for Chun I run her second. I’m needing to practice up on her a lot more this time around because I believe she will be very viable, same with Iron man, I can get 800K with both those assist off of my basic bnb from vanilla. Today I’ll be putting in work for combos and see if I come up with something new. Now that CA is viable you can DHC into Kikosho from that, legs too but the hitstun is high so no good followup after the launch.
Thanks. Hm, for the first trial, I x-factored max spider did a bashdash, jump, then zip into airH ->the rest. Only way I could do it. Can’t figure out #9 - the one w/ Cap assist. Am I missing something obvious? What sort of joystick motion should I be doing to zip correctly?
You know what’s really annoying about the mission modes??? The fact that if you do a COMMAND DASH (2 Attack buttons) it will register it as an extraneous attack and RESET your counter because you DASHED the wrong way. :@:@:@:@
Also, I’m extremely pissed that no one told me that Nova’s M Centurion Rush Assist (the dive kick) is A FREAKIN’ OVERHEAD!!! LIKE, I’M SO BESIDE MYSELF RIGHT NOW OVER WHICH ASSIST TO USE NOW. Gravimetric Pulse is one of the best assists ever except for the fact that it will consume any red life that Nova has at the time, and that hurts when he’s the anchor. Meanwhile, Centurion Rush not only creates unblockables, but it can extend combos and create setups to counter raw tags when the opponent’s point character has low yellow health (since it will force the opponent to ground bounce if they get hit by it, and I’m fairly certain that they will at least trade).
There needs to be a ‘Smack Airborne’ button right now  go with the overhead assist. If I’m reading what you are saying right, then even as an assist Gravimetric Pulse will still take his red health as an assist. This right here in my opinion knocks it back some since the overhead will get more use and considering Spidey in general it’s not going to hurt him that much even though he’s better at lockdown now
Damn, so much hate, Xero. XDD You could always use the report button… jk. And, yes, the assist still uses the Red Health. It’s funny because Kajoq raged about that earlier today when I had almost killed his Nova assist, leaving it with about 90% red health, and he called the assist when it was only at about 67% red health. XDDD Needless to say he was a bit upset. He was saying that the ground throw setup into pulse is something that I wouldn’t likely be able to perform mid-match anyways, so I really shouldn’t miss the ability to get a full combo off of it. I don’t really need two projectile-based assists anyways. ;O
Now the only issue is who I should make my third character… =(
People I have in mind still are Dormammu, Taskmaster, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Magneto, M.O.D.O.K. (I’m up for anyone right now, lol), Sentinel, Storm, Thor, Amaterasu, Chris, or Dante. That’s my choice of people with strong projectile assists right now.
Edit: I might just say f*ck it and stick with Dormammu because he has the best lockdown assist that that list has to offer, not to mention that it’s also the best combo extender.
