Yes, it’s basically a Dark Hole that stays out for 3 whole seconds to me. You keep the opponent locked down with its presence and can use it to convert a grounded throw into a full combo with proper spacing. ;D

It does work, but it may not be possible with greater distances.

I’m beginning to get the feeling then whenever you’ve got space and the opponent is grounded, Spidey should just go for ground LP web ball XX web zip to top of opponent> drop down with jump C or S. It’s the closest this he’ll ever get to a left/right mix up and unlike most of his other approaches, this doesn’t get beaten by smart push blocking.

I don’t have umvc3 yet, but I was watching Zucco’s video. Can spidey still webswing to MS?

im running with HULK gamma charge and DEADPOOL quick work.

you get rushed with spidey no problem hulk can GTFO for you and it beats a lot of things now.
you start to pressure with spidey you can set up unblockables with deadpool.

the synergy with DHCs isnt too bad either i usually do prettey decent damage with it.
but what makes this team tick is actually spidey in the corner.
i can use this for resets and such and if spidey gets taken out deadpool can play keep away and has tools to open people up and just for kicks DHC into XFC hulk is just death!!
hulk has TOD combos on everyone in the corner and guess who pushes them there?? spidey one bnb they are in the corner and one web throw is in the corner lols!

and i had great synergy with strider since i played him in MVC1 and spider…those two i swear they rape face!
pete gains meter for strider and then if they manage to live through spidey a fully orbed up strider with INSANE chip camage wave dashing in for lockdown and calling assists for mixups!

I was thinking to myself last night on how to make the UWT reset more viable. I remembered that there were more ways to do it in Vanilla than simply OTG xx Web Ball xx UWT such as Sting xx UWT or keeping them airborne from a combo with another assist like Chun’s legs. Point is, what if we tried an alternate method to do the reset? Since UWT obviously would have more priority than any aerial normal, what if we tried to out-range the opponent even if they teched forward? I don’t have the game yet, so I can’t really try anything.

The air dash didn’t look dangerous because Juice.Zucco never got punished for his air dash. I was a little worried about that I’ll admit.

I’ve been wanting to run this team for a while now, and the more I hear the more it’s sounding like the worst team ever. Spider-man at this point does no damage WITH meter and hit stun decay stops him from being much a meter generator even when he’s not spending meter. Strider’s better off building meter himself seeing as he actually has reset potential.

I am dying for some news of Spidey’s meterless damage and/or reset potential and at this point I’m just not seeing much potential. Still, early days and that…

yeah I wanted to play those two together because Strider looks cool but I guess it wouldn’t work very well if you had Strider as second because he is more of a point character.

It upsets me that Spiderman and Strider, two character who I’ve always wanted on my team, are both having problems with dexterity as a character, especially Spiderman. In my opinion, web ball teching, no air dash guarding, and web throw damage scaling are three of the worst nerfs he could have gotten and increased agility in no way make up for these.

Actually, there’s this very special angle when you’re in the air where if you throw out :df: Web Zip at your opponent with a flying j.:h:, it’s COMPLETELY ambiguous. IT’S SO AWESOME.

He can, but there’s the same restrictions in combos that there were in Vanilla; :l: Web Swing only connects to MS with only the slightest of hit stun decay, :m: Web Swing will connect with a half ass combo, and :h: Web Swing will always allow MS to connect, but you run into the problem of :h: Web Swing itself not connecting after about 8-9 hits into a combo.

This sums it up fairly well too. XDD

I actually have just been using st.:l: xx UWT after a Spider Sting~:h: in the middle of my combo. It works pretty damn well with the exception of backwards teching mid-screen. A reset’s a reset though!

PSSSST Web Zip is the new airdash. ;D

He still has relatively high damage potential, but we need to work with the new technology more. It’ll take time, but we’ll make him a powerhouse once more. It’s even better NOW though because he’s a more solid character overall now! As for his synergy with Strider, I’d say it’s probably lacking a bit, but imo, you can make any duo work in this game. Just find someone that synergizes with BOTH of them!

He’s actually looking more like an anchor, imo. His damage output is not that strong right now, and that doesn’t improve with the help of assists. Also, he seems like he actually requires a lot of meter for Ourobouros and the like, all the while getting a VERY nice boost off of X-Factor. He seems sort’ve like Akuma to me…
Reached some more conclusions today:

    Ground throw into Pulse, st.:l: st.:m: st.:h: xx :h: Web Swing j.:m: j.:m: j.:s: st.:m: st.:h: xx :m: Web Throw, plink dash forward twice, call Dark Hole assist, OTG Web zip j.:h:, land :l: Web Throw SJ Maximum Spider
    Not to mention the assist just rapes face on people entering. Depending on how you place it, you can force them to fall to the ground, where which millisecond you decide to dash will decide which side of them you’re on. It’s one of the most trippy left-right mix-ups I’ve seen on people entering lol. Not to mention that you can either do a Spider Sting~:h: overhead, aerial Web Swing, or Web Zip for instant hi-lo mixups when they hit the ground.
    Oh, and it’s a great combo extender too. When you prepare to do the OTG Web Zip, have him throw that sucker out there and go straight into Maximum Spider later in combos. It’s 3 hits!!!
    >Spider Bite CAN be canceled into Web Zip.
  • Great for when they pushblock Spider Sting, but bad when you actually land a hit on them with Spider Bite.
    >Canceling :h: Web Swing into Web Zip has proven to be completely useless right now… =(
  • My infinite idea for it doesn’t work, and at Super Jump height, you either land on the ground at the same exact time as they do, or the Web Zip connects from fullscreen, not letting you land an additional hit.
    >The BnB I posted yesterday seems to be the GO TO combo for Happy Birthday situations. It’s easy to pop X-Factor during it, and it hits both characters. Win-win!!!
    >We need to condition ourselves to always have our joystick facing away from the corner in any potential air throw situations. It’s virtually impossible to land a freakin’ OTG Web Zip in the corner… I tried everything. =(

Edit: Ok, seriously, this is getting VERY tiresome to see. THESE NERFS AREN’T THAT BAD. WE ARE A BETTER CHARACTER THIS TIME AROUND AND WE DON’T NEED INESCAPABLE GIMMICKS OR IMPOSSIBLY HIGH DAMAGE OUTPUT TO SUPPORT OUR ASSES. ANY TIME YOU WERE HAVING TO BLOCK WHILE AIRDASHING WAS A BAD TIME TO AIRDASH. SHEESH. /rage

Spidey and Strider need a lot of meter but also both are really good in mixups and resets and when a meterless combo can make you 500,000 damage, you are already taking half life of most of the roster.

Those two are perfect together and both can make themselves the meter necessary to use

Can you do a heavy web swing at super jump height and web zip down and away from the opponent and reach the ground in time to follow up with a web throw or assist? That would look pretty frickin awesome if it is possible.

In the corner, when Web Zip and the following aerial doesn’t connect with the opponent after :h: Web Swing, both characters simultaneously land on the ground. =
I brought them back down to the ground for ya, buuuuut I couldn’t do it in the middle of a combo. XD

If you attempt it mid-screen, Web Zip will tag the opponent and you don’t have an opportunity to land a single move afterwards. >__<

He’s very fast, as of the moment he’s a very good mobility character and has lots of tricks with his zip cancels. It’s apparent the the zip cancels were added to help his approach. He can average about 700K damage off one bar with one assist. Countering with CA is just as good damage wise. You’ll get bigger damage off anti airs now if you can land UWT but only about an extra 100 to 150K, SO FAR. As the game progresses and new tech and glitches come out then we will be able to see how good he is but at the moment he’s still pretty damn good. Also must note because of zip cancels it really does open up his high low mixups and now because his moves push back more left right mixups also are slightly better when using certain assist.
