i’m actually not too worried about airdash nerf now

seeing as i can do web ball xx web zip and then airdash when web zip starts.

bwahaha.

as i see it spideys buffs are really good for him.
but the main thing i think you guys are overlooking is the fact that the nerfs to the top teirs are going to make fighting them significantly easier. BUT with that said he still has a LOt of untapped potential because of one thing…NO ONE USES HIM aside from a very few players.

he will be slept on just like the last time around.
he has good mobile movement. decent enough damage on the combo department and he has a really slick reset potential given you have the right assists. web throw nerf was kinda given cause lets face it it was stupid to begin with.

the one thing i LOVE about spidey is the normal noob cant use him…he isnt shit just doing just BNBS all day its just not enough. but give hime some time and actually learn him he is a threat that can even rival the top teirs.
i mean 1mil combos by himself?? and that was without the UWT resets.

as i see it he is most definatley a capable character and as far as im concerned the nerf to air dash was needed because characters like mags and storm can tridash all day and not have to worry about getting shit cause they can block right out of tridash or just create mixups. without the worry of somone countering them.
now that that is nerfed you can bait out someone airdashing with UWT or webthrow or Sting only thing you have to worry about is covering your offence and positioning. which makes the game more based on THINKING and outsmarting somone.
sure they can hit you randomly but you cant lose two characters off a random hit anymore.

Am I the only one that is really hype specially for the SpiderSwing-Air SpiderSwing? That thing will make him even better to keep pressure. I really think spidey is way better now even without blocking air dash. We now just need to use more our wavedash and move more with the webzip. I think spidey with a good assist has everything to be a total beast in UMVC3. The only thing I am still worry about is the frames on block for webzip

yeah that really irked me when they gave task master that but not spidey??? WTF was that?
but he has it now so im totally glad too cause now we got flashy combos lol

I’m not worried about the Zip being minus on block because aren’t we always going to cancel it into something else? and plus you can still block out of it… so I don’t see why that’s a big deal

It’s only a big deal when trying to keep pressure on in a block string. Obviously the fact that the web zips cancels are there make up for the negative frames. Add that to using assist as cover its not bad. I doubt that people will be abusing web zip by itself to get in as much seeing as its punishable now from a distance. As for Crawler Assault I think people are missing what they mean by decreased frames. It could be faster startup but the start up on it is fine how it is. You can still combo into as it is now but if the frames at the end are shorter that allows followup of of the wall bounce which is what he needs as opposed to faster startup. The fact it takes 20 frames to start up is one of the reasons its good to countering supers and counter supers and decreasing the recovery will make said counters stronger as opposed to just blowing a super and being done with it.

Last thing I hope they do is decrease the hitstun on his moves so he can get better combos in.

I’m really excited about the otg web glide, maybe we will be able to pick up after assault and uwt? Also spidey is one of the few rushdown/mobility characters whose mobility is getting buffed as opposed to nerfed. With the focus of ultimate being shifted to zoning, the glide cancels and otg property of glide might make him one of the more viable rushdown characters. Also there is the possibility of tick throws mentioned above with web ball into glide, and (!!) maybe a way to pick up off the ground off of air throws for huge damage on said throws.Also about the frame advantage of web glide being nerfed possibly, does that mean no blocking after gliding in? seams like they would have to really make the recovery very slow for that.

No it means the opponent isn’t in hitstun/blockstun as long as they were before. So things people were doing like air dash cancel to web zip to get in aren’t safe at a distance if you come with an attack after the zip. Unless they cut out being able to attack after zip and turned it completely to a mobility move which isnt the case

Xero what do you mean by you hope Spider-man’s hit stun on his moves decreases? Wouldn’t that make it harder to combo after?

Im taling about hit stun deterioriation. I already hate that combos are limited because people believe they shouldnt be punished too hard, infinite or not, and lose said character for making a mistake. I understand why they did this but then when characters like Dante have combos that go on forever using the same moves and then Spidey has one that stops after I use an :l: after one jump loop it becomes pretty aggravating to say the least.

yeah honestly i would be fine if they made his damage output less but his hit stun deterioration less too. I can only fit in like 4 special moves at most in spider-mans combos, and they don’t look nearly as cool as other peoples combos cuz there like 5 seconds long. Web throws look pretty cool when Spidey tosses around opponents though.

Is the UWT reset still there in UMvC3?

Yeah, I did play MVC2. And he sucked ass in MVC2.

He wasnt that bad towards the end of the game though. Super jump cancels, mixups, web ball combos leading to his infinite, guard breaks, maximum spider links, fast as wave dash, unblockable setups with low or high hitting assist (few I know mostly for low tier casuals), and a crossup maximum spider. A thing like guarding during air dash was something that was not high on his list of things that he needed. Just like in MvC2 if he doesnt run the risk of being punished for air dashing far away then use it to move in but use wave dashing as your main tool for moving in. Also your air dash is done as soon as you leave the web it’s really not long at all.

They can keep his damage the same he doesnt hit that hard outside of web throws just make it so he can average close to, if not, 700K like the rest of the cast after scaling. It was stupid he couldnt do this before.

He was garbage tier for most of his MVC2 life. Shoultz found a lot of interesting stuff with ambiguous cross ups/unders, but it was never enough for him to emerge as even a blip on the tourney radar. Not in ten damn years.

And honestly, havingto wave dash to get in? As Spider-man? The fricking “web slinger”? Is it so much to ask that the web slinger has a decent web sling? Even if he turns out God tier he will play nothing like Spider-man should. Everything about this feels so damn wrong…

You’re focusing too much on aspect of Spiderman in general. He’s known as many things but even in his fights how often do you see him web swinging? He jumps around and zips more than he web swings in a fight. Even his move ‘web swing’ is a lose exaggeration of a move he normally only uses to get the jump on people. I’m just saying don’t be upset with something that affects the entire cast of air dashers like its going to really hurt Spidey. It’s really not. It didn’t hurt him in MvC2 it won’t hurt him now. His shortcomings were elsewhere in MvC2 but we will save that for another day as not to crowd up this thread.

That’s what I was trying to say, his air dash isn’t going to be the main way of moving around anyway, so it will hurt the Mags/Doom type characters more than him.

does he throw the web zip faster? i get that he moves faster when the web zip actually hits something, but just wanted to know. that’s what was my main gripe with web zip haha

yes he throws it faster. From how it looks, web zip has a stopping point to which he will fling from it, I’ve seen different cases but overall it is faster.
