that’s what I’m hoping for…

im more interested in the somewhat vague change note of ‘ultimate web throw attack direction is now at the side’

im thinking perhaps they have simply rotated the area it covers yby like 45 degrees or so (from spideys hands) making it cover an area above and in front of spideys head, and a lot less area below him. i was thinking maybe it could make OTG>UWT setups harder at close range, but then thought that if the opp decides to air tech forwards or backwards (popping them up slightly in the process) that the UWT would still actually catch them, and also prevent people from being able to double jump over the top of it like they could in vanilla…

looks like we might not know this for sure till the game drops though now…

Regarding the issue with the web throw, I remember watching a vid of a recent build where a spidey player threw out the move and it caused a hard knockdown. I’m sure I found it posted somewhere in the Spidey forums. A soft knockdown on the web throw and being able to air tech from the web ball are both pretty big changes, so if they weren’t listed on the change log, I’m confident that it hasn’t been changed from vanilla.

i don’t think it has said soft knockdown on web throw (or ultimate web throw) anywhere

it was a while back. not sure what build it was but ive definatly read that regular web throw was soft knockdown a few times. not UWT though.

Web throw was a hard knockdown in the Vergil build iirc, go back through this thread. I posted somewhere about it in a video linked somewhere here I believe.

I think they would’ve listed the change on web ball techability if it changed. HOPEFULLY. But nothing’s final till the game’s out, so yeah.

No mention of negative on block web-zip either

Anyways the change to UWT is actually a needed one, like evilweevle was saying if web ball does become techable its not lost since the way opponents slipped through when teching forward off a normal is because of where the hit box for UWT was. Moving it more forward and upwards some allows us to still bait techs forwards and backwards relatively safe given he still jumps backwards to do it. Everything else like the double web swing and the decrease in crawler assault is what we needed. Now we can actually follow up after the wall bounce, joy, and we have the option for another overhead in our block strings. Breaking him down this time won’t be so bad now that he has options that don’t involve web throw since now we have more options for damage to include mashing for additional damage. Shit just got real

having UWT higher and to the side seems nice because I always try to get characters coming into the screen with it but miss. This change will probably make it easier which would be fun because I never get to use UWT outside of combos with my OTG assist.

Stuff like frame advantage and numbers aren’t going to be on a quick change list like the one on the front page. It will probably be in the strategy guide or we’ll discover it through tests with the actual game. Still, there is a chance that they have changed it back to its vanilla properties.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to playing the new Spider-Man. The webthrow damage may suck, but the addition of new, tricky air maneuverability, the ability to OTG without an assist (can’t wait to see what Spidey can do off a throw now) special move cancels into webzips, this version of Spider-Man is going to play a lot more like… well, Spider-Man. Plus, the universal airdash nerf won’t hurt Spider-Man too badly if the webzip doesn’t count as an airdash.

The only thing I’m thinking about now is who I want to replace Wesker with. The only reason I used Wesker was for OTG and unblockable set ups, but Spidey can OTG by himself, and Phoenix Wright has a full screen low attack. Don’t get me wrong, Wesker is a cool character, but I didn’t care about getting good with him as much as I did with Spider-Man and Doom. Doom’s getting loads better as well, so I’m going to enjoy testing stuff once the game actually comes out.

You can’t UWT people on entry unless you activate their throw or they attack but no assist will allow for this as it will put them in block stun and allow them to move closer to the ground while blocking before UWT comes out.

lol i’m still pessimistic. they changed things unintentionally that we liked, i doubt they’ll list all the nerfs because i doubt they even know some things may be changes/nerfs like web ball tech and other things rahsaan asked about since the beginning. i hope to be proven wrong but eh.

Shit, I thought Vanilla Spidey was fun, but this is going to be a blast!!! Can’t wait to get back in the lab!!!

Edit: OHHHHH, now I see why they did that to UWT now, LOL. Makes sure that we can’t get the reset off of a Web Ball as easily, and we probably don’t have the instant death on Phoenix anymore.

if they can still tech after a web ball couldn’t you webzip cancel it to meaty/tick throw their tech attempts? seems like it would hit the perfect spot. maybe it was capcom’s intention after all to not so much nerf reset possibilities after web ball with spider man but with other characters using the assist.

also get hype for taskmaster combos and denjin web throw

I think the Phoenix kill is still there it’s not like they are moving it to directly in front of him its a just moved over a little to have more range seems like. She’s still in the air so she should be catchable. If web ball did revert back though resets will be stupid

These changes suck ass. I’d take frame advantage and a useful air dash over a faster web zip and a terrible OTG anyday. Oh and thanks for the stupid fucking UWT directional mash. Us pad players really appreciate that (not that anyone will be using UWT unless web ball has been unnerfed).

As for UWT it’s not like it was garaunteed anyways. I’ve had more people escape from it than I have had people land it. For all we know this could actually be a buff.

did they reduce startup on air webball does anyone know? also if the reduced frames on CA means quicker startup, i will be pretty hyped to be able to finally use it in combos. that shit was waaaaay too slow in vanilla.

i am going to be massively disappointed if the air webball>OTG>self combo does not work though.
