But why would you do an Ultra throw into reset though? I can understand resetting into UT, but if you jab to reset them you’re giving up like 270+ guaranteed damage for a potential 200. Even if your reset works that’s 70 less damage than if you just did LP clap EX Backbreaker/U2.
Wow, we actually can react to the message. I’m testing it right now. Since it’s not an actual safe jump and we’re doing dd.mk/clap as we land, the message appears just before Hugo lands on his feet so we don’t have to commit to anything yet.
We just have to watch for the message and then slightly delay the inputs to cover delayed wake up on reaction. I think this is huge for Hugo.
Man it sucks that we can’t set the AI to delay wake up. I have to record the dummy mashing some buttons. That makes it harder to test this.
It was a HUGE missight to not include delayed wake-up. It makes trying set-ups SO HARD because I never know if I time it right.
And I think the UT Resets are a once in a while type of thing to try and get people. Mainly dd+mk reset since you can catch tons of stuff with it.
I’ve been trying to find good OS with MS to catch certain characters that I have trouble with others ones (vega/Poison backflip, Rose backdash)
someone made an early match up knowledge compilation video…although we’ve all seen the last match, i wouldnt call that match up knowledge cough cough fraud win cough but that thawk knowledge though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRJOJxBbkWA
This video is off of a c.MK knockdown, but it’s applying the same concept of a meaty Clap on their wakeup. FP Claps have to be blocked (and you can OS into other stuff), while MP Claps whiff, baiting out reversals or following up with SPD (since the recovery is practically nothing). On DWU, though, you can input Ultra Throw, and apparently they can’t mash jab out of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgabWRFPStI
To quote the video description, “The “technical” comes up BEFORE Hugo fierce giant palm, allowing enough time to identify the wake up. This makes it possible to determine which follow up is appropriate.”
I’d imagine it applies to FJ setups after Lariat, too.
Can you really call that a win streak when it’s a room full of horrendous scrubs? Not only did they all suck but it was obvious they had no clue how to play against Hugo.
So I managed to beat the Rank 1 Blanka on 360. I got a bit lucky, as he didn’t seem to entirely know the matchup and I made quite a few errors, but I also made some pretty solid plays. You can see an example of meaty FP Clap OS U2, MP Clap whiff tick SPD, and Lariat meterbuilding like crazy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ahc2OCArJwA

good stuff!
Light and medium rolls are punishable on HIT. I’m fairly sure they are all punishable on block by some form of back breakers or st M.
Game play looked solid, although I’m surprised at how often I see hugo players land a raw FP clap in neutral (not a meaty). the move has horrid startup and gets outpoked by everything.
Aside from that seemed pretty standard. I think this matchup is one of the few in Hugo’s favor.
“I had fucks, right. My windows over there. I opened my window and I threw all my fucks out of it and that’s how I won my match.” LOL that had me dying.
Tons of great match-up knowledge to learn here.
