My Hugo, feel free to comment and give me tips, best battle for me is the second match vs Yun
Wow, some really good play, love the OS U2 to catch Yuns backdashes
For me the only thing that really stood out was the overuse of lk>clap, yun cottoned on and was able to punish you before the clap hit
I love the punish on flash kick into reset that Alucard does in round one. I really dislike how much he tries to use knee to get over every single projectile. It lost him a lot more health than he should have.
I love the ending though LOL
I would also like to post this here
If you want to see some good Hugo play.

Dieminion vs. AlucarD
Gonna steal that reset and that was pretty good read in the end.
That winsteal.
haha the ending, and nice punish, no flashkick!
Except a steal, you can’t win properly vs a good guile like dieminion
Is fp clap into ultra 2 a valid OS to catch backdashes? Any options with less strict timing?
you can OS it into jabs as well, it works better, but is almost mandatory that you use the KKK shortcut, so you basically do this on their wakeup:
cr.LP, 2xqfc+LP+KKK.
Practice and learn the timming, if they block you get a chain of cr.LP, s.LP, if they backdash you get U2
Hey guys. I just found out yesterday partitioned Gigas works out nicely in Ultra. Just one more thing to use as your arsenal. Cheers.

Some vids I made.
Hugo Resets:

Hugo meaty ddMK/HP Clap Option-Selects:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZxdQN0CkHY
EDIT: To clarify, this timing DOESN’T WORK ON Decapre and Chun Li. Because these characters wake up at a different timing / get hit by ddMK or HP Clap when they backdash. Therefore you can’t OS them properly. So when I mention an OS is “universal” I of course mean it works on everyone besides these two.
And I just realized I only included OS Ultra 2 in the video and not OS EX Backbreaker. They aren’t exactly the same. For example OS U2 doesn’t work on Juri’s backdash but EX Backbreaker does.
I tested most of the option-selects on the whole cast already. OS LP Clap, EX backbreaker and OS U2 need more testing though.
ddMK OS LP Clap, Super:
Everyone EXCEPT: Decapre, Chun Li, Makoto, Seth, Elena, Cammy, El Fuerte, Vega.
(LP Clap makes Hakan, Rufus and Hugo float; everyone else gets hit standing)
ddMK OS EX Clap:
Ibuki, Gen, Yun, C.Viper, Sagat, Dee Jay, Hakan, Guile, T.Hawk, Yang, Hugo* (hugo is the only character that floats, the others are hit standing)
ddMK OS Ultra Throw:
Ryu, Ken, E.Honda, Gouken, Akuma, Sakura, Oni, Dhalsim, Abel, M.Bison, Cody, Zangief, Adon.
ddMK OS s.mp:
Universal but best vs characters with great backdashes (Dudley, Dan, Cammy, Guy, Evil Ryu, Blanka, Rufus, Balrog, Fei Long)
ddMK OS EX Backbreaker:
Ryu, Ken, E.Honda, Ibuki, Dudley, Gouken, Akuma, Gen, Dan, Sakura, Oni, Elena,
Yun, Juri, Dhalsim, Abel, C.Viper, M.Bison, Sagat, Cammy, Dee Jay, Guy, Hakan,
Evil Ryu, Guile… (testing) Vega, Rose,
ddMK OS U2:
(testing) Dudley, Dan, Guy, Evil Ryu, Blanka, Rufus, Balrog, Fei Long.
MP/HP Clap is much easier to time and easier to buffer an OS into, it also leads to more damage on hit. However it seems that ddMK option-selects can catch more characters. Not sure why.
You’re the best Vulcan. How well do these set-ups go if your opponent does delayed wakeup? Can you tell that the opponent is doing delayed at a certain point and adjust accordingly like the meaty Clap into meaty UT on Delayed set-up.
Those meaty setups are for regular wake up only. If they delay wake up your buffered OS will come out so pay attention to the technical message I guess.
Delayed wake up is next on my list of things to test. So far I’ve only found a way to meaty both situations. Although I haven’t explored setups specific to delayed wake up yet. Hopefully there’s a wayt o react to the technical message and change timing of the setup.
Unless we manage to find some really strong setup that covers both normal and delayed wake up, I think resets will be better for Hugo (although those will require educated reads). Like on my first video, you do the Clap combo but you stop at EX Clap or LP Clap or jab then ultra throw/jump in or reset with ddMK. On block you can Ultra throw but since they expect that they will often backdash or jump away after blocking ddMK so we can either follow up with s.hp or react to backdash with cr.mk and react to jumps with EX backbreaker. Of course if you only do resets they will start mashing reversal but you can bait that or possibly beat it with EX backbreaker. So there’s this 30/30/30 that’s always in Hugo’s favor because of his sheer damage output.
Ok I was looking at it when I recorded the dummy I think you can react to the message in time to change your set-up. Will have to test later when I’m not in games
I noticed by watching Alucard’s hugo he likes to play a more footsie into combo into rest kind of hgo
As for resets off of UT you can do DD+Mk and be at +
A reset I was practicing in trainning mode but I’m not sure about the results against real people:
Ultra Throw, cr.LP xx HK Meat Squasher. cr.LP will reset them into the air after UltraThrow and Meat Squasher will reach them as they fall and grab if they don’t mash DP or something like that,
About option selects, I’m having great success with LP OS Super on footsies. It’s the most easy OS in the world: Just do QFC+LP, QCF+LP (the same command twice). If it whiffs, you’ll whiff 2 s.LPs, if the s.LP hits, it’ll cancel into super. This OS works better by using s.LK or cr.LK, but when I try to do using these buttons, sometimes the Super comes out even on whiff. I gotta practice that, but in the meantime buffering into s.LP is working really well.
Resets might be working now but that stuff will be hard to pull off once players learn the game and get familiar with Hugo. Most players aren’t gonna stand there and get thrown. Players will probably be mashing back dash, reversal, or up+back.
