MvC3 Tournament and Stream commentary thread

BTW, is Marn serious about losing interest in MvC3 and is trying to troll us by playing Phoenix? It’s quite sad that months ago he looked like one of the competitors to J Wong’s crown and now he’s reduced to being a joke.

Marn’s match where he was reduced to Phoenix with 5 bars - he basically catwalked Phoenix for a few seconds laughing before trying to wipe a team that effectively lamed him out. He’s done with the game, sadly.

“Sadly”? Show him the fucking door; dead for the dead, living for living. Moving on to the next level, we’ll get over it.

doesn’t help that he’s upset with the bracket shenanigans at NCR, too. :\

You guys need to watch this, it didn’t appear in the stream. Justin’s team vs Daigo’s team round 1, the one that appeared in the stream was round 2.

Justin stepped up his game so much that his opponent couldn’t do combos anymore? Impressive.

Daigo… Isn’t very impressive… XF3 beam super comeback was meh, and what’s with constantly hopping back constantly with Wolverine? Is he trying to avoid mix up and turtle with Wolverine!? YOU ARE WOLVERINE. GET IN THERE.

Still, top 8 is pretty good for his first MVC3 tournament so you can’t be too harsh, but he’s nowhere near as good as Tokido yet. All in my opinion of course.

More like he couldn’t block in the long run. He rarely even got enough combos in to drop. It’s so dumb someone drops some combos during a long series match and people come in making excuses. Justin was landing the first hit with Wolvie just about every single match, kicking in Pheonix to kill, then pretty much game. I’m sure his ability to finish combos definitely kept him from that!

its a bunch of coinflips…you stand at a certain distance with wolverine, call your assist and do qcb+c. heads or tails? it doesnt matter how good you are, no one is that lucky or else vegas wouldnt exist. the game is a joke as it is right now and capcom knows it. notice how seth left before mvc3 finals. says a lot, the answer to the question of what he thinks about the game – ‘no fucking comment’

All Mind needed to do was use Phoenix rage after getting snapped in once or twice in order to actually make Justin think twice about attacking.

Think of it like a Dragon Punch.

If you’re crossed up on entry, what happens to the Phoenix Rage input?

This tournament has convinced me to play on a Hit Box.

I’m not positive, but I highly doubt you can be crossed up on your first frame on entering the playing field. I’ll mess around with it. Since you’re in the air, the only thing that would happen is a jump C, fireball, or teleport.

Clockwork was going to use Phoenix before she was even officially announced to the public as a character in mvc3. Doesn’t mean people aren’t going to shit on the use of that character.

Fixed that for you. Mags can live without Psylocke, but Strider and Doom are the original best friends forever.

Daigo needs more practice. An XF3 Akuma comeback isn’t anything to talk about. You can’t just play with a dirty team, you gotta be dirty too. Daigo needs more smack talk and salty face if he is going to get good at Marvel.

Fire up the training montage with Sinbad, include the obligatory jive talk and 90’s dance move lessons too. He’ll be ready for EVO in no time.

Who else kinda got a laugh when during the Mine Wong NorCal finals, one of the commentators said, “Mine went from being a juggernaut… to Marn.” Damn that was cold.

Well the nature of the game allows people to be factors that really dont have the hardened skills to be a consistent factor. Once you know some good shit with a team that gets probably more than they should for a good read you can just start popping off in tournaments. Once you hit the big old men you got problems though.

Tinh should have put Magneto on point instead of Tasky. I think Task can zone wolverine alright, but with Akuma and Wolverine it’s a nightmare. I was wondering why he wasn’t putting Mags on point. Disruptor keepaway along with his solid defense would have gave Justin’s Wolverine a challenge for sure.

agreed. marvel is a dirty ass game, still though i think daigo probably leveled up alot just by taking part in matches here at this tournie and in casulas behind the scenes. he might really surprise people come evo… remember the first coming of daigo is always the weakest. its the second and 3rd times that he plays that rapes people… like in the A3 championships where valle was one round away from winning the whole thing against a daigo that had only won like a round… but then daigo comesback and valle doesnt even manage to take any more rounds… download complete.

not saying that will happen at evo… just that its definitely in the realm of possibility… hes already shown that he definitely has a mind for the game by getting in top 8 at his FIRST american tournament where we KNOW he had to get passed some real killers. lets not count daigo out. an xf happy birthday notwithstanding he still managed to beat justin… was it luck or did he know he would get a bogo there? who knows… but when its the beast that full parried a chun super on tape in front of thpousnads of spectators amongst a loud ass crowd and still managed to jump parry> air kick> poke xx srk xx super… DONT put anything past this guy. hes the best capcom fighting game player the world has ever seen, probably even better than tomo.

Agreed. I’m not worried about Daigo, I think this was an important tournament for him. He needs to get way more beastly though, you can’t be trying to space/bait like that at the beginning of the match with Wolverine. If the opponent isn’t forcing you backward, then they should already be eating adamantium. Hell, he was even doing it against Lamerboi, lol!

I understand it’s because of his patient personality but he needs to turn on beast mode and just not give a fuck. He needs to understand that when it’s Mahvel time, you don’t respect somebody’s space until they make you respect it.
