Format suggestion for OP:

Streams are really popular now so I guess this could be a hub for stream monkeys and interested non-players. Also sticky this.

I’m working on a fancy update for the OP when SRK stops being so laggy and crazy! It got the sticky tho boss.

I personally have been maining Tron since day one, but She-Hulk was definately a surprise. I really thought and hoped RyRy was gonna take this thing but all good Justin earned it this time around, and I’m sure we’ll see plenty of RyRy vs JWong for the upcoming year. Looking forward to it all!

People were sleeping on Shulkie lol - she’s really good. UltraDavid himself said in the forums that once she’s in, you can just pray to guess right against her multitude of options to fuck you up.

Also, I loved how much Ryry was air throwed on the matches lol~

That was a great stream. But I really think that Viewtiful Joe just really won’t cut it in this game. From what I saw in the stream, all he did was spam Voomerang and the only shining moment was Mach Speed blowing through someone’s hyper. I’m REALLY surprised with Jwong’s She-Hulk at how she was able to get in so easy despite the keepaway Ryry tried to do.

Also… yeah those air throws are ridiculous. People just seem to not defend them. I do it all the time online! But then again perhaps I can blame the lag for the lack of breakaways

Nigga’s need to learn to block and use Snap Back.

Keits was terrible btw.

MvC3 isn’t TvC - Joe’s keepaway seriously got nerfed in MvC3.

However, he has way more options to get in and do damage - plus his movements options are quite decent. Playing keepaway with him, spamming Voomerang lol, won’t cut against anyone with half of a brain.

Was he really a zoner in TvC? I played him as rush down. I don’t know about his movements to be honest. That double jump/dash doesn’t get him that far with all the crud that gets put on the screen. Maybe more uses for his Red Hot Kick to get in from the air?

I’m very happy to see a non-Sentinel team winning. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not one of those “Sentinel is too OP and cheap!” kind of people; in fact, I’m practicing up on Sentinel just in case. But it is nice to see that a team without Sentinel can win a major.

Joe’s air dash is pretty good actually but you have to be prepared to follow up right after wards, can cover over characters and over Dante’s stinger range. You use the voomerangs to help with cross ups by using them overhead or before you attack. But his slow mo hyper is what people need to use, save two bars, slow mo then snapback. And build up bar and repeat. Make there assists slow so you can punish them.

Seems like a lot of effort to annoy someone rather than kill their character. But this game hasn’t been out for long and people are not ready to flesh out yet. It was nice to see Jwong go outside the “tried and true” stuff and try something completely new. Was kinda tired of seeing Sentinel vs Sentinel. Also Jean is pretty damn fun when she isn’t in DPH mode. Kinda wished that she didn’t have that DPH mode so she can be a point character more often rather than just go ape shit or cower in fear depending if there are 5 bars or not.

Sent has long been exposed.

He’s the best character at exploiting bad habits (mashing, overdashing, poor pushblocking), and his assist is no longer god tier relative to other assists.

Great work on the stream by team sp00ky with the SRK guys doing the commentary.

I hope in Final Round we’ll see a larger variety of characters and a counterpick team to deal with the Gustaff Fire assist.

Not gonna lie, real talk? That Shulkie,Tron,Ammy team from Justin was GODLIKE. SHIT WAS HYPE!!

No snapbacking a slow character with Joe hurts the team overall due to it removing one assist.

In terms of 3rd character assist popularity the significant ones seem to be Sentinel, Hidden Missile Doom, and Phoenix. The next tier of assists would be Chun-Li, Akuma, Haggar, Hulk, & Morrigan. Given Tron’s amazing assist, long lifebar, and character viability (combos, DHC, movement, etc) are we going to see mostly Trons at the highest level?

As much as Phoenix changes the game or as god-like Akuma’s assist was hyped to be, they’re both glass cannons that make your team much more susceptible to random HCs. At high level play, Sentinel is almost free and Haggar, Hulk, and Morrigan basically are. Chun-Li and Doom are too easy to punish and tend to struggle on point despite being viable characters (the execution level for them is so much higher to get those loops and big combos which is stressful in the late game, ticking clock, clutch situation) and can struggle to convert meter into safe damage.

As far as high level theory fighter is concerned, is there any better 3rd character than Tron right now?

On the contrary. Slowing down the opponent character as an assist really mess up their game if they’re heavily dependent on it (like J Wong lol).

On Joe’s dashes, you can’t dash randomly - you have to get a plan everytime he’s in the air, otherwise, you won’t be able to fully utilize his good movement and air options.

Like said above, Voomerang is best used as a cross-up/maneuverability tool instead of a standard projectile. He can pretty much mindfuck people with the right assists.

rofl

The game isn’t even one month old. The first USA’s major just happened. We can’t really guess what’ll be of the metagame right now. Give the game some time.

Protip: don’t overreact.

Post-scriptum: the bolded part made me lol

I also didn’t see too many Dantes as I would have expected.

Good shit all around! SO HYPE!!!
