Glad to see people stepping their shit up and picking the cheap derp. It’s better for you in the long run, and once you face a level 3 anchor Vergil or a good MorriDoom you know you gotta step it up from weaksauce mid tier shells. Magneto is godlike with Doom/Sent behind him, but both of those characters are mediocre on point and it’s better to pick a good third along with a great assist.
As for me I’m happy with my main team, and I’m a theory based guy. Unblockable bullshit setups are the future of this game and you gotta have characters that can deal with the majority of crap thrown at them.
I’m trying to decide on a new team here, so far I have Doom (Hidden Missiles) second and Magneto as anchor (DISTRUPTAH!), and I have no idea who to have on point. I don’t want to use Wesker for obvious reasons and I don’t want to use Vergil because while he is swagtastic I already use him on another team, and I’m weird so I don’t want to use him on this one. I’ve been thinking about putting She-Hulk on point but apart from the fact that they seem to DHC well together I don’t really know if there’s any real synergy here. Help a noob, please?
If you weren’t dead set on having mags as anchor, I would say play point mags. But to answer your question, those assists will go good with pretty much anyone with enough work, though obvious choices would be characters with a teleport to abuse disruptor-port mixups (dante, deadpool, dormammu, strange, etc etc), characters who would rather lame it out (trish, morrigan… you get the idea), or characters who otherwise lack good projectiles/good projectile durability (wolvie, iron fist, chun…), or even with well rounded characters that just want a little more projectile durability to overwhelm an opponent (ryu, akuma).
So yeah, pretty much anyone in the cast. You basically have a long range lock down assist that covers vertical space, as well as an incredibly fast full screen projectile for mixups/resets/lockdown. It’s going to be hard for you to go wrong here, just play a character you enjoy playing.
I thought so too when I first looked at the team but you just have to play lame with Harmonizer assist and as soon as you land a hit you’re usually going to hit 5 bars with more to spare.
I’ll prolly stop playing it once I play against a decent Verg though lol.
That team is surprisingly good. Magneto/Morrigan are two of the most capable solo characters at playing both rushdown with top tier keepaway and zoning, it’s much harder to beat a solo Morrigan or Magneto than it seems. Plus, you have Phoenix at the back and she is still very relevant vs 80% of the cast and her threat alone can change how you would normally approach fighting Magneto or Morrigan.
I don’t see how Morrigan/Disruptor works to be honest.
Darchon posted a video with a bunch of set ups with Morri/Disruptor. I don’t think it’s a top 5 assist for her but it’s still definitely usable. Most people aren’t used to playing vs Phoenix so they play half as smart as they usually are normally since they panic. With Dark Harmonizer assist, I give no fucks about using Phoenix Rage vs incoming mixups.
Having Dark Phoenix in the back as insurance while you do bullet hells is pretty amusing. Hell even Dark Phoenix with Dark Harmonizer and Disruptor assists is stupid.
I’m too lazy to argue any other points, but the reason Disruptah is good for morrigan is because it causes a knockdown. In other words, if you don’t block the disruptah, you’re going to be bouncing around on the next 20 soul fists headed your way (this combos). Gotta respect the disruptah
Edit: Any beam assist that causes an airborn state works fine, but disruptah is basically instantaneous, full screen, and has pretty good durability (though with soul fists everywhere, projectile durability probably isn’t a concern)
Disruptor has one of the shittiest lockdowns off any assist in the game and is one of the worst beams in neutral if your character doesn’t have a mobility/teleport to cover it. It’s the best beam for full screen left/right mixups because of those properties(speed + short lockdown + no scaling), but it’s not that great for a lot of the cast, especially someone with limited mobility options like Morrigan, her mobility is good imo, but not the type to abuse Disruptor. The knockdown part would apply for Astral Vision Morrigan juggles, but I don’t assume you would use Astral Vision on this team.
Actually you really can use Astral Vision prominently in this team. It’s really one of the few teams where I prefer getting Phoenix dark and tagging her out since you shit out a constant stream of meter so you generally always have Phoenix Rage vs incoming. AV isn’t as effective without Missiles but it’s still quite a force to be reckoned with. Also getting TK Dark Phoenix Trap as an assist is awesome as long as you’re not stupid about calling her.
After playing a long set against a Spencer/Sentinel/Akuma, I’m definitely feeling the lack of a neutral assist lol.
I agree with the fact that Mag/drones or missiles is godtier but it also means having to play with wackbot who im not a fan off, (along with all other shitty nokia products) its not tht 50sent cant be good but damn if he gets hit he is screwed and as speaking of morridoom at CM5 chrisG ran through maryland with tht bullethell bs and sent was screwed. Is the risk of sent vs most the cast worth the reward of mag with drones is generally my conflict I wish there was a similar assist but idt there is.
Im working on a team of task mags and doom with missile assist, so hopefully I can zone and rush. And while its not morridoom, doommaster is a nice combo 2 that does a hell of alot of chip damage. Would love any advice or opinion on how to make this team better
