The argument for Tatsu

  • Makes start of round bulletproof. (Throw/H OS forcefield while calling akuma)
  • covers your approach
  • on block provides you with about enough time for 2-3 highlows or left rights midscreen
  • on hit Mags can confirm into full combos pretty easily
  • helps on fireball wars since tatsu destroys projectiles

If you’re gonna be running a mags/wesker team I feel like tatsu helps wesker out a lot too for some of the above reasons as well.
Incoming mixups with Wesker/Akuma are stupid. (see noel brown and jwong)

heres a few mags/wesker resets.

SJ airdash S so that it combos off the throw. After the j.S combos off the throw, I call wesker as I land. Then normal jump tridash L pretty much as fast as possible, land, and then tridash L again.
Hard to tell because of lighting in the vid but when I pause I set the computer to jump and vergil obviously can’t jump out. Catches the pre jump frames with the overhead L.
Midscreen if you don’t push block my first tridash L, my second tridash L actually consistently hits as a crossup overhead but I’m too lazy to post this part. If pushblocked it still hits normally.

As far as I know the only ways out of this are: 1) hard tag, 2) block it (pretty fucking hard) 3) cross over counter, 4) invincible shit. The last 3 pretty much work on every good setup, the hard tag is the only thing I wish this covered more consistently.

Works on back and front tech, though I only show it on front. When I SJ up forward you can react to the front tech and air dash down back, or react to the back tech and air dash down forward. It’s pretty free. If I notice they neutral tech I’ll just blow it up with cr. L the next time.

Just like the last setup, the cpu is set to jump: aka it beats up back. I also set it to block high-mid this time to show what it looks like when it actually hits. Also it’s important to make sure that you force a ground tech, not an air tech (which would happen if there was too much hit stun deterioration).

That is some sick shit, What do you use to convert Akuma assist midscreen? I found that if I jump at the right time I can hit j.s airdash down forward L into launch, but im sure theres a better one.

Mags + low hitting OTG for combo extension (midscreen combos do at least 800k, corners do 850+), unblockables/resets + a strong neutral assist = GG
Once Maggy is dead you have XF2 Wesker + Tatsu, which is MUCH stronger than plain old XF3 Weskey imo.
Akuma is an anchor that does well w/o XF, as long as you have a few meters, which this team affords him.

a quick tip for wesker/akuma that I haven’t really seen anyone abuse, on approach normal jump front gun + akuma assist is the derpiest shit.

care for air to airs with that approach like jump back j.M or H with mags :stuck_out_tongue:

What are people’s thoughts on Magneto/Dante(Weasel Shot)/Doom(Missiles). I know people run this team with Sent in the back, but I personally think missiles is a lot better. Since Mags is on point he gets a great horizontal lock down in Weasel Shot while still having Missiles for combo extension/OTG’s into Tempest.

Seems like a team with a god like neutral and great lockdown. If Mags dies you still have a great neutral in Dante/Missiles with Doom anchor to clutch it out if need be.

If anyone’s already running this team I’d like to know your thoughts (and your tech cough).

I like Magneto/Vergil/Doom over Magneto/Dante/Doom. IMO if you’re running Dante for Weasel Shot assist, you should run Cold Star instead.

Doom/Dante THC is pretty cool though.

I would also recommend MVD over MDD, Dante/Doom is alright and fairly sound fundamentally, but I really think you need some kind of cheap shit to turn the tables when your point gets blown up, and Vergil with meter covers that base pretty well. Its really feels like an uphill battle ( even if it isn’t ) to run it back with Dante/Doom, too honest for my taste.

Not to mention, it is really demoralizing to your opponent when you just straight drop their characters like dominos off air throws with mags>Vergil DHC. Shit is oppressive.

I run the team with Doom(Missiles)/Dante(Weasel/Jam). For the THC and incoming mixups. Has served me well so far. I don’t really like Dante with Missiles. It’s good, but I dunno. I just liked Doom with assists better.

EDIT: Oh, and Magneto resets with the threat of Doom TACs are fun. I do have a Dante TAC if I need it, but it requires DT. :<

If you have Dante 2nd, you should be using the Guard Cancel xx Devil Trigger. If you use that, the team is much stronger with Doom in 3rd.

Also, I prefer Mag Dante Sent.

What do you all think of Magneto/Storm/Akuma?
I’m trying to find a good point character (besides Wolvie) for my Storm/Akuma team.

I like that team and the way it’s built. Assuming you have the assists going: emd/whirlwind/tatsu the synergy is amazing.

Magneto by himself is a well rounded character. Low hp but high risk, high reward damage every time you touch someone. More so especially with this team since Ice Storm and Tatsu assist are some of Magneto’s favorite things other than drones and missiles.

Magneto backed with tatsu is nuts simply because you can do OS forcefield for the grab at the beginning of the match, and for mix ups mid-game, as well as whirlwind for keepaway and combos. Then there’s the fact that you have probably one of the best dhcs in the game with Ice Storm. People that play you have to respect that fact or they can eat quick tempest or shockwave and ice storm. They can’t even press buttons lol

And when it comes down to it Akuma makes for a great anchor. Fastest beam in the game(?) plus combos and mix ups for days. Keep in mind this dude is glass. I keep thinking this team is the closest to MSP, but so far I haven’t seen many people using this team lately for the “cheaper” options.

I’m mainly concerned about finding ways to hit-confirm tatsu assist into a full combo with Magneto. Storm’s movement is so fast that she can tri-jump or wave dash behind tatsu and if it hits go with a st. M into a full combo or call tatsu, superjump, then downforward airdash j. S into a full combo. Magneto can wavedash behind tatsu assist for a raw launcher but the way I’m doing it, half the time it crosses me up so I mess up the combo. And I haven’t found a reliable way to follow up tatsu assist from a superjump with Magneto either. If you have any ideas of how to follow up with Magneto I’d appreciate it. I don’t really know him all that well so I doubt I tried all his options.

Magneto Tatsu confirms have been covered quite a bit in this thread, and others on the maggy boards.
A quick rundown of a few options –
H hypergrav launch
Dash behind tatsu and do a couple stand jabs to confirm which side you’re on before you launch
j.M j.H xx L MagBlast launch
j.M j.H addf H launch
j.L j.S addf L st.L launch

Thanks. I’m a bit confused about how to add all that stuff in for the jumping ones but I found something that I think works just as good and is easier. And you said that these are already discussed on here so I’ll just go look up the rest.

These Magneto boards are so helpful xD For most of the characters I’m interested in the boards are either dead or they just ignore you >.<
