I’ll DHC to Dormammu’s chaotic flame sometimes if it’s going to kill, from memory it adds 100-150k, which is often enough to make it a kill.
I agree, that Cap style combo was indeed sexy as ***k.
As for DHC after Charging Star during Cap’s B&B combos, I usually don’t have a need to do so, BUT if it will result in killing a character with super uber powers (Wolvie, Mag, or anyone else I may be timid fighting) then I will not hesitate to do so.
I usually try my best to not use meter on the first combo (if i’m feeling confident that is), I like to do that so that I end up with 3 or better meters by the time I do kill the character.

Okay, I was wondering because I think I already mentioned it, but the combo I do (The one with the relaunch) gives about 2 bars, so I usually end up DHCing into Skrull Inferno every time to get up to about 860k, as well as have a potential reset (Inferno>Elastic slam>new combo makes people rage.), so I was kind of wondering who else did similar things. It seems to me like his hypers are perfect for DHCs, especially considering how fast he gains meter.
The fact I can kill Deadpool in one combo this way is always a plus too.I really hate that character…
I usually don’t need to end the combo with a DHC, and if things have been going well I don’t need a Hyper at all. Cap does some pretty solid damage (IMO) so if you’ve hit them a few times, usually you can kill them with a 500k+ combo, but if not you can knock out a 700k B&B to make sure they die.
With my team setups a B&B into DHC usually does roughly 850k+ so there aren’t too many that can live through that. I love ending combos in L.charging star to M.charging star though. It does very good damage (around 540-550k), causes them to have to air recover, and puts you right back where you can land another combo on them to finish them off for no meter if you land a hit. It also has you ending up with at least 2.5 meters between the two combos. That means that you’ve got at least 3.5 meters…which means the next character is in very real threat of dying from a touch because of Final Justice (or Team Hyper, or Triple DHC).

Hmmm… I’ll have to try that L.charging star to M.charging star. Sounds like a pretty decent mixup/reset option.
Cap does do some pretty great damage. I mean, I can drop a combo and still get 400k+ out of it lol. Strangely enough though, I never actually use Final Justice. I tend to always do either Hyper Charging Star or Hyper Stars and Stripes into Inferno, finish them off with Skrull, then Cap comes back in.

I agree, I also use it during the match if I’m really trying to kill a character since it does a massive 440k (if I remember correctly). Tack that onto the end of a B&B, and you’ve got at least 950k if not 1mil damage.
Another thing I do very very rarely (aka when I’m feeling sorta rude) is end my combo after a L.charging star with Team Hyper (3 meters). That does a massive amount of damage to anyone…and since they’re going to die you don’t need a mixup…so you can be very rude by taunting with Cap as the rest of the team kills the opponent lol.
It’s sooooooooooooo rude, but it’s pretty funny if you’re feeling particularly salty.

When I saw Hawkeye announced in the video, I immediately started to rethink my team options (crap…what do you mean I only have 3 fighters! lol)…but I’m thikning pretty hard that he’s in there. I might do what I’ve been doing lately, and making teams around the individual avengers I’m a fan of though.
Also would you care to elaborate on how you use the cartwheel…I don’t have huge problems using it, but every little bit helps. I use it a lot more now especially mixing up the range on it with the 2 dashes. Got any new match footage we haven’t seen yet.

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO there! I didn’t get to see Harry Potter last weekend (will very soon), but when I realized tomorrow was the 22nd…Potter was told to hold tight until Cap is finished talking lol.
I really was excited to see Green Lantern (even though I’m not a big DC fan), but the day I was on my way out, I decided to check some reviews to see if it was worth it for 3D or 2D instead. I read so many bad reviews I just stayed home.

Main ways I use cartwheel are with Chris’ assist, especially as a new character comes in. I also sometimes stop it just short of a crossup (during a chris assist of course) so that they block the wrong way. Anyone who’s been crossed up by the cartwheel a few times falls for it, since they start blocking the other way when they see the animation.
Any buff to cap is good, but the main ones I’d like to see are A) Less ending lag on Charging Star L and M so that I don’t go through projectiles only to get combo’d out of my lag (Trying to Charging Star towards Deadpool for example is dumb as hell.) and mainly B) make his assists all have the same properties their equivalent moves have (AKA Invul on startup S&S and projectile invul Charging Star.).

Captain America: The First Avenger was great! Had some cheesy moments but it felt like reading the comics. Some people won’t like it though!

I just wanna say that this thread almost brings a tear to my eye. I thought I was few and far between in this Captain America user thing. Feels good to see so much info on him. I’m also glad to see him getting a little bit of buffs to help his bnb in UMvC 3.
pfffft! We all rock Cap hard! Out of my 1400+ matches so far, Cap has been in somewhere around 1200 of them…and his best friend IronMan has been in every one of those 1200. They’re the real team bff lol.
I’ve been getting a little happy the past month or so, I’ve been running into a pretty decent amount (for a low used character) of Cap’s online. Some of them are pretty decent, some are extremely basic, but all of them get a message after I teach them how Cap can really be used lol.
I always send them a message letting them know that I’m more than willing to help them if they need any help buffing their Cap skills up. Even the guys that don’t use Cap show massive respect once they get systematically wrecked, it’s been pretty awesome getting so many messages about how ‘awesome, scary, great, etc.’ Cap is. Heck…I still think I’m very wet behind the ears with him, but I’m pretty hard on myself.
I’ve been having pretty good success with the different resets I use online, it’s a lot harder to get them online due to the lag, but once you get used to the lag they work great.
Btw…what kinda resets and mixups are you guys using? We should try to pull that stuff together, so that maybe we can make them even stronger.

The Cap movie was GREAT!!! Lmaooo i loved every second of it! Usually superhero movies are heavy on special effects and low on story, but this was the opposite lol. I really enjoyed it and recommend it to everybody here!

Random question, but does anyone else seem to have more trouble doing Cap combos online with Cap than most other characters? I drop Cap combos online like it’s my job, yet always hit them offline. I thought it was just input lag, but I can land my Chris, Skrull, Tron, Morrigan, and Wolverine combos online pretty consistently (Joe drops combos online too, but his are kind of tough and my tech skill is kind of meh, so I assume that’s why.).
Absolutely! I have to change up my combos online due to the amount of input lag you get at times, and ESPECIALLY depending on the character you’re fighting. I have very good execution so it’s not that, I can do a combo over and over and over and over offline, and even offline with the 4 bar connection simulation (training mode set to induce a bit of lag)…but get online, and try to do the u.H xx L.shield slash!?!
Due to the lag online by the time it reads your input you are higher than normal (you can do it just off the ground in no lag conditions), so that changes the position meaning you can drop the combo within the first 4-5 hits alone! If you do manage to get that first part out, then you will almost surely drop the next part (u.H xx M.shield slash) because the shield will be too slow to hit causing them to be too high in the air.
I usually just change up my combos, and have been revamping my combos lately so I don’t have online/offline combos (I prefer to have one set for autopilot consistency’s sake). It’s worse depending on who you’re fighting…for instance Dante is EASILY the hardest person to do a combo on with Cap when you’re online. It’s extremely annoying, and I end up having to do FAR more work than is necessary due to combo input lag.
I’ve changed my team (again) since I’m still holding auditions lol. I’ve added Spencer into the 2nd slot now (instead of Wesker, who was ‘replaced’ by Tron) so I can get good with him. I’ve been interested in him since the announcement trailers, just didn’t put the time in yet. He juuuuust might end up staying on the team for the long haul (1000+ matches or so like Wesker had), since I really like him, and he helps quite a bit with the online combo lag with his assist. He’s also pretty fun though I’m worried about dropping his more advanced combos online due to the lag.
We’ll see what happens. As for your problem, I recommend after your launch you use j.M, u.H xx L.shield slash. It seems to help out pretty well online while not killing your damage output.
