MvC3: Felicia thread V2: For All your Broadway Catgirl Nun needs!

Wolverine’s Dive Kick isn’t THAT good. He has at least some frames that leave him open for air grabbing. Kinda like Taskmaster’s Spidey Swing. I probably should have said ground block then instant air grab. lol

Even if it isn’t that good of a move (Which I don’t agree with… Stagger, Ground Bounce, Frame Advantage on Hit and Block, and it seems to trade or out-prioritize everything short of dedicated counter moves - seems like the best Normal in the damn game), the fact that EVERYBODY uses it, and uses it constantly, means that we should develop methods to counter it.

Honestly, I don’t think I could ever use the air throw to counter it - at least, not in an online environment. I need to find something I can do on reaction, not prediction.

What about Hell Cat after he lands? Is that plausible? It has 5 frames of start up, while he gets +8 on guard - does this mean you only have 3 frames before he’s able to escape the grab through movement or attacking, or does the ‘+’ mean that he’s able to act 8 frames ahead of whatever I perform due to guard stun? If so, is in possible to X-Factor on guard, Hell Cat him, and then follow through with a combo that will kill him? (While I’ve been playing fighting games for-freaking-ever, I’ve never gotten too deep into the frame game, so I’m still trying to understand.)

Oh, online environment. Good luck with that. :stuck_out_tongue: But in all seriousness, it could be countered. The only way I can theorize it is to just X-factor blockstun and catch him with whatever you can think of.

This is actually a good thing to test since a lot of people are resorting to Wolverine because of his stupid damage and priority.

Hell Cat could PROBABLY work. Looks like it’s lab time for me.

H Hellcat is 1 frame, right? His Dive Kick will probably leave him right in range for it. So you can’t just jump up and grab him in the air, huh? Well if you expect it you can probably counter with a pre-emptive strike, Dancing Flash has some invulnerability after the flash.

You sure it’s +8 on block? I’m sure I’ve missed combos landing Dive Kick high up x_x;;

According to the “Bible,” light hellcat is 5 frame startup, heavy is 1 frame (medium is 3). When pressuring opponents, light is probably best because of range, but for counter-attacking a dive kick, I’m willing to bet he’s close enough for heavy.

Also…I was under the assumption that dive kick’s frame advantage differed depending on where he hit you on your body, just like Yun or Yang in AE.

Just got back from a modestly-sized tournament in Columbus. Central Ohio is weird. They have like a dozen Felicia players but not a Phoenix in sight. Same here as it was at PowerUp.

What’s up with that? :3

It was the same thing when I attended LanBash in South Florida. But the Felicia players were actually good and made some nice comebacks. :3

That made me happy

Awesome, the more kitty players the better. More cat love! :3

This is how you beat Wolverine dive kick. Either chicken block and ground grab with regular throw or HP hell cat oooor…just do the safer thing that you’re really supposed to do and just XF guard cancel that shit and get him off screen. Burning your XF early against a wolvie dive kick to get Wolverine off the screen is always worth it unless he’s on a Phoenix team. I dont play around with dive kicks no more. Wolverine is gonna kill you if you let him get dive kick forced down your throat too often. Dont be afraid to just burn the XF and get him out.

Oh and fuck Wolverine.

By chicken block you mean advancing guard?

How much health does Wolverine have? 900K? XF1 Felicia’s able to punch 908K with her standard combo LMH xx RBS > LMdfM > j.MMHS > S > sj.MMHS > dfM jxx Dancing Flash (well I used Deadpool’s Quickwork assist after the Toy Touch at the end so got a tiny bit more).
Some of my other characters need to burn two bars to get over 900K with XF1 but shouldn’t really be a problem plus Wolverine might have already taken damage anyways.

Chicken blocking is jumping just before blocking. Done right, you’ll land and be able to act while your enemy is still recovering from the dive kick.

Even though I understand the concept, it’s something I’m still unable to apply to my game. Old dog, new tricks, yada yada.

Good stuff  . No ever taught me chicken wings ever since i started Melty Blood.

I don’t care how much meter i waste just to take down Wolverine. As long as he is dead im swell.

Well something that I didn’t realize before until now is that one of the bets things to do to get Wolverine out of there is as long as he didn’t call Haggar or Tron assist before hand just turn on XF when you block the dive kick and get him off the stage. Those techniques just help if you want to save your XF but Wolverine is such an XF reliant character that unless he’s on a Phoenix team you might as well just XF guard cancel him since he can’t cancel into anything else and get him off the stage. It requires XF but it’s the least execution/spacing intensive method for killing wolvie dives.

Like I mentioned in the video also you can use your movement to stop the dive if you know he’s in a recovery period where he can’t call an assist. You can wave dash behind and command grab him out of an attempt from him to counter attack after the recovery from the dive. In general Wolverine was purposely made so there’s no easy way to deal with his dive kick other than blocking or XF guard cancel. There are other methods but they require timing or taking a general risk.

I’m gonna try my best and rep Felicia at EVO as hard as I can, yo!

Look forward to it. She has a lot of scary bullshit that people don’t know about. I’m sure you’ll catch some people off guard there.

Nya~! Now UMvC3 is official, what can we expect from Felicia? She’s pretty good as is, don’t see any reason to not give her back her Air Delta Kick though, being able to Wall Cling from super jump and less recovery on Cat Crawl would be nice too. PHM should be better in some aspect, bit faster, more damage, OTG, I dunno.

UMVC3 Felicia’s win pose is <3333333333333333333333333333333333333

If anything, they should probably give back her Sand Splash hyper and Air Delta Kick and I would be fine.

Didn’t see anything new from her from the stream. She obviously needs some type of aerial special move so hopefully that was granted considering she had such in the original game.

Considering Felicia is so damn good in Lv.3 X-Factor, any changes done to X-Factor will greatly affect Felicia on the whole.

I would hope Capcom would realize this and buff her up sans X-Factor, since it seems like nerfing X-Factor is one of the main objectives of UMvC3.

If X-Factor gets too nerfed, then it might be back to putting Felicia on point and having really good assists to back her up… which is what I started with, so that’s not a huge problem, but I certainly enjoyed those XF3 shenanigans.
