I think MSWesker might be better, you get unblockables with Wesker assist and I think Wesk > Sent on point.
I acknowledge MSS as a great team
But best?
Idk about that… So many great characters and options overlooked. No Ph/DPh? Wesker? Dante? What about counterpicks? What about mags lack of safe hits on shield besides c. L? What about Sentinels huge health nerf? Idk about storm enough, but I’m not seeing her around a whole lot. OTG assists? (sents rocket punch is a bit slow for assist) Extended combos? Plus, they could just be more developed as team due to MvC2.
I think we can not possibly know who the best team will be, or if one will even exist.
ahhh yes, modok sentinel storm… such a good team. or was it magneto shehulk shuma?
morrigan spencer sentinel?
I lol’d
Mag/Shuma/Spiderman
MSS is actually a much stronger team in this game then in 2 due to better synergy and more well roundedness on Magneto’s part, but the best team?
Nah. I can’t give it that title right now.
Don’t be idiots mentioning mvc2 when referring to MSS should be a huge red flag as to which MSS I speak of.
I never really saw all the hype with Cold Star, it hits way too many times so it kills damage, and she stays out for way too long so she can be punished easily, plus the hitbox on the move doesn’t seem huge. Another assist, I don’t see the hype about is Haggar’s lariet, it’s good, but it seems like Tron Fire is better, because Haggar can’t hit short characters (and less range I think too)
MODOK/SpiderMan/Shuma is a great team I agree with ya! Trollface.jpg
But seriously that team still is a pretty potent team despite Sentinel’s HP taking a dive. With Storm/Mag’s aerial movements, you can essentially move Sentinel from the far side of the screen to avoid him from getting punished 90% of the time. In the last couple of streams, people been using this by sandwiching the opponent with Mag/Sentinel to get hit by drones or by Mag’s mixups.
But… more people should sleep on Wesker. Just for the simple fact that I don’t want him to get nerfed. He has A LOT of potential! Above Average Health, Easy as fuck combos, teleport mind games, able to punish physical hyper combos on reaction, amazing level 3 etc.
As for assists… Akuma’s Tatsu is such fucking bullshit. Sometimes I think “Hey I can probably shot him out of it with Wesker’s gun!” only to see the projectile clash effect and eat purple foot. Fuck that assist seriously.
But remember…everything we say has to be “conscious” of newer players who don’t know crap. Remember, SRK is for EVERYBODY now…ugh…
It’s still a great assist (my go to assist on my main team), but yeah these are its flaws. The biggest one I feel is the angle of the shots though, so it can’t really be used in the same way like Plasma Beam or Sentinel Force to get in and is better for characters who do not need an assist to get in like Morrigan or Dante, so it’s more for pinning people down to run mixups on them and it’s a good oki tool. If it hits them go for a reset since it leaves them in the perfect position to run another mix up on them.
You also have to be smart about when to use it and how to cover it since Ammy is very vulnerable when she uses it.
I don’t see how anyone right now can claim that any one team is objectively the best right now, let alone a team that’s hardly seen any tournament time.
To quote George Orwell (and probably make him roll over in his grave):
“All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”
So yes, all characters get somewhat stupid in lvl. 3 X-factor some characters get way more of a benefit than others. To me it looks like the characters who get the most out of it are those who get a significant speed boost (but not so much that it induces dropping of combos) and enough of a damage boost to insure that whoever they hit is probably dead. Dark Phoenix additionally benefits from X-factor because its healing effect saves her from having to burn meter on ‘Healing Field’ and since she doesn’t need to activate that to not die she doesn’t need to hang out in close proximity to the opponent either.
Probably a very strong team but if it’s set up like a traditional MSS team (i.e. Magneto-Storm-Sentinel) then it isn’t set up to take advantage of the DHC trick right off the bat.
I use MSS for its amazing zoning and rush down abilities. And I never used any of those character back on MVC2 so I know im not operating with that system in mind.
They have the DHC glitch both from Storm to Sent and from Mags Hyper Grav to Sent(of course your teams order needs to change of storm needs to die first)
But I really like zoning ppl with Mag on point using EM with Whirlwind assist, after a few of these I call the Whirlwind assist and do a :h:hyper grav, as ppl tend to super jump towards you after alot of zoning. If my grav connects then it nite nite (keep your butt hole tight).
I also use Rocket Punch assit when I run MSS to extend my combos OTG. But it also works decently after you push block someone who is rushing you down.
Oh yeah Teirs:
So noone really gave much feed back on Storm last night, guess its just cause shes not used much, YET
Storm’s used plenty, but she doesn’t really have any wow factor other than Hail Storm and possibly the best DHC trick starter. Most people know she’s really good, but you’re not going to spend all day thinking about her.
Is it possible to break down the tier listing on assist to show which assist leave the most hitstun on block?
Storm has some useful team-working abilities. She has some good pokes on point and Tridash to help her apply them. She has a nice overhead to mix in. Air-dash and float help her both approach and retreat, and mask her assists. Air Whirlwind can be annoying to get around when paired with a ground projectile assist and Whirlwind itself is good at blowing through most projectiles opponents can use at her or clean out projectiles for a point character when used as an assist.
She can burn meter for effect without depending on it. While she doesn’t seem to do much damage, she sets up the DHC trick from her combos, full screen punishes, and her throw game. It can be set up from point characters via air exchanges aswell. Also, just having her in reserve on your team can allow points access to buff OTG Supers that include assist-killing powers via Hailstorm in THCs.
I think she’s a well-rounded character, and it’s fair to say that she doesn’t get as much attention because she seems to lack something obnoxiously cheap and damaging herself; meaning she’s seen as a good support character rather than a character who can do everything well in any situation.
You forgot she can link her super to itself on assist…
Oh really?
(not a Storm player)
Hell nah
There’s better teams Sentinel is ass IMO. Just a good assist.
