So inconclusion, I think we can all agree that Jean is a high teir character.

Whoa slow down buddy, I was talking about the awful video you posted because he was a moron and kept doing obvious teleports without any cover. I was saying that player getting bodied COULD have punished a few of those teleports.
You can actually react to her teleport (online lag and offline freeze not being considered). She only has to do 1 bad teleport and it’s a dead Jean.
XF3 is so fast that her fireball hits before the teleport is fully recovered at times.
Phoenix assists are also pretty ass until she becomes D. Phoenix.
She’s not a bad character but she does hurt the team by hogging the meter, XF and assist. That’s another trade off to picking Phoenix. She’s really throwing all your eggs into one basket. As time passes, she’ll be less of a pain if Capcom doesn’t intervene first and makes sure it happens sooner.
High tier but not Top. As a point/battery he’s one of the best getting PLENTY of meter with his bnb combos and even more with his longer extended combos. DHC wise his arrows are pretty decent dhc if you have the right starting super and the right positioning. Assist and Counter wise…ehh. he’s pretty low tiered/lacking. I’d put him somewhere in the middle of high tier.
Right on, Yeah must be a great battery with some of those super long combos.
And I know his DHC trick can lead to a relaunch off of ‘some’ of the DHC trick starters.
I saw a 700s or 800k Task combo with 1 hyper bar (which is sure to be built during the lead in combo), so that after about any lead in combo to Cinematic hyper should be a garrenteed kill.
Thats gotta be worth something when considering his tier placement, IMO.
She’d be in my current top 5. Yes current as in assessing things right now.
Taskmaster has great damage output, higher then average health, great normals, can play both short and long range as well as decent assists. He’s good at building meter. His only downfall that would bring him a notch lower to a character such as Mags, would be absence of a level 3, ability to mixup and general mobility. He’d be high tier in my current assessment
hmm now that you put it like that i can understand why you all would say she isnt the best TEAM character but as far as individual i still think shes the best but i digress
moving on i think taskmaster has a really good all around game besides mobility but add to that a high damage output and grabs he can combo off of and you have yourself a VERY solid character b+

For people who are saying you can just punish Dark Phoenix off a poor teleport… sure, but I think you seriously underestimate how much chip damage she does. I also think the frailty of the team composition is overstated as well, if she gets snapped in a dies, so what? It’s not like you were running some Sprial/Strider Doom combo. It’s not like she is getting partnered with Haggar or something.
Personally, I think Dark Phoenix is overrated, but Phoenix is underrated as the whole “can’t use her until level 5” thing is overstated now. I think once people move away (because they get better) from the save 5 meters -> tag in Phoenix, you’ll start seeing her being put into play with less than 5 meters and just building it up herself. Eventually, she’ll just be a proper carry that just needs meter to be useful, rather than being some weird obtuse strategy.
After you talk about all the broke-ass characters, the next character that should come up is Taskmaster.

You implying that Floe, using Sentinel, when he was superjumping the whole round and finally hitting a crouching M when Phoenix is clearly on the ground, is a “random lucky hit” is a fucking joke. Where during that whole match was he fishing with crouching M or any other normal for that matter?
You’re asking me to give actual reasoning behind my opinion when I’ve already done that. You on the other hand have offered nothing to support your opinion and continue to ignore evidence against it. Watching a video and not understanding what’s going on doesn’t count.
There’s no point in discussing this if you insist on whining over semantics and being obtuse. But if you insist , replace “lucky hit” with " poorly thought out teleport the other player predicted and attempted to punish with crouching M, succeeding"
Aagain, Hard drive and cr.M into kill both require the phoenix player to mess up, outside of that, he can’t fight her.
I’ve given you situational examples on how Sentinel can handle Phoenix, provided evidence of this in a video at high level play with arguably the best phoenix player out there when anecdotal accounts weren’t enough and you’re equating that to “whining over semantics” and “being obtuse”. What evidence am I supposed to provide to show you that you’re the one who’s actually being obtuse and who’s opinion has no merit?

I show you a video of Floe entering and avoiding her initial shenanigans, running out the entire clock of xFactor, hitting her with a cr. M while she’s grounded and countering her super with Hard drive. And even with that you’re still hitting “reply” to support your horrible opinion. Now it’s to say that I somehow fail to grasp what’s going on in that broken head of yours. Riiiight.
Shut the fuck up, this is a discussion on a potential tier list, meaning MATCHUPS are the most important. If you want to hear something about Taskmaster, then fucking write something to start people up, otherwise shut the fuck up and let the discussion about a VERY relevant match up continue.
