this has fucking nothing to do with tier discussion but i thought it was hilarious
LOL! XD
^ I do love that comment: "Wolverine’s waiting in the trees like “UNACCEPTABLE”
But to be fair, I think that’s all of us on this game. We do get pissed off about stuff like that. But…it’s just crazy simple casual fun, if you keep it that way.
whoever posted that comment deserves some type of medal
edit: “have you seen wolverine?? dude you could press 3 buttons and accidently kill somebody”
haha to many golden qutoes in this
I’m actually really surprised he didn’t even mention Wesker and Ammy. I’ll lay you money one of those characters is probably on his team.
Spidey works better the lower you are to the ground. Dont get me wrong those two assist are great for his web throw shenanigans but only sentinel is really great for helping Spidey get in. I would personally choose a team that helps Spidey stay in so I would switch Doom to rocks or p. beam because they pin the opponent in one spot as opposed to locking the opponent in an area allowing them to pushblock Spidey. Another thing I would note is assist that are fast enough to let Spidey utilize his crossup potential. You did mention Tron, others would be Akuma, Phoenix, Deadpool, Wesker (plus added unblockable), Dorm, etc. Now if you were set on using this team I would change the order and assist to Spidey/Doom/Sentinel. In this order Spiderman can DHC into Doom’s Sphere Flame from any super and be able to combo after it. Spidey can DHC into Sentinel but not as easily.
Changing Doom to rocks ensures lockdown in corner plus on roll situations forces the opponent to roll backwards in an attempt to escape thus pushing them towards the corner. If they roll forward they roll into the starting of his assist so now they are pinned and free for crossup and instant overhead shenanigans. Using p. beam lets Spidey move in safer and faster due to rocks having massive startup so I would use this more for approach then I would rocks. On the flipside, this assist does open up Spidey’s throw game as it hits the last part of the beam allowing him to combo afterwards. On a team with Sentinel I can see this allowing rocket punch to hit and recover and still letting him relaunch before having to burn supers. I dont play Sentinel so if I’m wrong I apologize just looking at it like I would with Dormammu.
Changing Sentinel to rocket punch opens up Spidey’s throw game and helps turn random quick combos into damaging ones along with setting up UWT setups. Though not as extensive of a use as Charge Drones, as far as damage is concerned on this team for Spiderman this will help him if youre always on the opponent and are getting your hits in. This mixed with web zip shenanigans makes for an interesting surprise attack if you can hide sentinel off screen as well.
As far as Spiderman’s role is on the team he sets up interesting tag combos for the two characters while building them meter. For example Spidey can spider sting or web throw (to a corner) raw tag Sentinel TK rocket punch and then start his Hard drive loop. Doom gets a little bit extra stuff but because of the hit stun deterioration they flip out not too long after so if you are good with Doom resets this helps at times. That’s just a small example.
Overall this format here has greater potential than drones/missiles plus a lot more variety in Spidey’s dynamics.
Zzz, people should stop judging stuff based solely on what they’ve seen on stream.
The reason you see Dante doing low damage off Lariat is because people follow up with Cold Shower>Shredder. This prorates the combo to hell. This is the same reason you see Dante doing low damage off J.S which is his best starter.
There is a much better alternative starting with a Volcano, but as usual, it’s harder than the Cold Shower>Shredder>Hammer>stuff, so you don’t see it.
Hell, I’m doing a sub optimal combo off Haggar assist and i’m still hitting 700k without DHC and killing every <1.2m health character by DHCing into round harvest. You can easily kill 2 characters before they even touch Dante.
Dante/X/Haggar can be a very very strong team depending on who X is. X can either be Phoenix, someone who DHC’s well with Dante for easy ToDs(Trish), a DHC glitch ender who can follow up Haggar assist(Doom/Wesker) or something else which hasn’t caught my attention yet.
Dante/Doom/Haggar is particularly scary because Dante gets two of the best assists in the game, and if he dies, Doom/Haggar is a disgustingly strong pairing.
My problem with X/X/Haggar teams is that even with the amazing assist, making your first two characters perform well enough to justify an essentially 0% chance of doing anything substantial with your anchor is tough.
It sounds like a pretty good team, though.
there are usually one or two guys who have haggar on their team and make top 16…so they are doing something right
Your first 2 characters don’t really have to do well. You just have to be solid on your hitconfirms. I typically tend to play more sloppily and carelessly when I have haggar on deck. I do a lot of unsafe stuff like ending strings in launcher and mashing on J.S, hoping that they will try to punish me and get blown up by Haggar.
But yeah, it’s pretty much over if Haggar is on his own. Considering how defense is almost non existent in this game and rushdown characters can afford to just not give a fuck, having an invincible assist which gives you AGES to hitconfirm and leads to ToDs is a good trade for a shitty anchor.
Only problem with Haggar / Phoenix as your last two means you have no assist at all for anything other than in close, so you’ll be fighting alone to get in. For dante that’s not an issue though so it’s probably why it works. It’s the same reason you probably won’t see Zero in that spot… he’d lose all his cross up tricks and cover getting in for not much benefit, since he’s always so safe.
Dorm… People sleep on that character, he’s really amazing. High damage, good mixups, impossible to get in on, anti phoenix, the best anti air in the game, amazing assist blowing up abilities, good damage off air throws, some of the best zoning in the game. His only weakness is his shitty assists TBH but he makes up for it by being a great DHC partner. Also huge boost in x factor. X factor 3 Dorm is like… a smelting furnace for fighting game characters.
dorm mixups? what are they.?
Block string, flame carpet, call assist, M teleport and then either dash down, dash forward, stay in place for high / low / crossup. With Jam session you can also do low on both sides because of the way the assist pushes them back, so you have a choice of what side you drop down on.
Also can do things like beam assist and then left / right teleport, or tri jump j.L / c.L mixups.
He also has pretty easy unblockable setups on entrance.
There has been many arguments lately about Wolverine being top tier after the performances have been shown in recent tournaments. So I’m wondering what do you guys think.Still Magneto is top or Wolverine is.
I still think Mageneto is top since he builds meter fast, has an 8 way-air dash, great zoning, fast, DHC trick, deals tons of damage, can kill pretty much everyone with 1 combo without x factor, etc. he isn’t too assist dependent either.
Who really cares?
yeah, dormammu I have to agree is an extremely good character, really easily locks out alot of the cast (like I was playing NissanZaximas dormammu and I got locked at the other side of the screen with storm… where the matchup is like 10-0, seriously, unless you are magneto you aren’t gonna beat Dormammus range game at full screen
That’s because people still forget that Storm isn’t just about DHC glitch…
how does spencer(y)/sentinel(a)/doom(b) sound?
Can’t wolverine do all that also lol?
