Yeah guys, just don’t get hit? All you have to do is block it?
Does anyone know how I make it so I don’t see someone’s posts?

No, try not to be in the area of berserker slash, you don’t want to have to block anything, avoiding is much better than blocking in this game. The hard part is avoiding berserker slash. Overall it’s too hard to react to just because they can fake crossup. Which is dumb.
What the hell is your problem? Obviously if most people don’t know how to blockup Wesker teleport mixups or Wolverine berserker slash mixups it’s because they’re not aware of how blocking works on crossovers. Like I said, it’s not easy, but it’s doable.
Of course, but the danger of assist + berserker slash comes AFTER the dive kick. Since Wolverine is +8 on block, you can jab + assist and then Berserker Slash to get to the other side. I see Justin do this a lot and I use it myself too. That’s what I’m talking about. If you don’t know how to block that, then you are giving Wolverine a free hit confirm every time.
man you are playing some terrible wolverines. The divekick is not a problem. Its bslash. So what if its plus eight on block, it will get XFC and wolverine will die, that is why good wolverines don’t use it as liberally.
and you can just kill yourself trying to say someone doesn’t understand this game Mr.Weskerisnotabattery.
Okay back then I was so pissed I couldn’t think properly but it’s fucked up of you guys to keep bringing that up for me as a basis of n2ot listening to a thing I say.
#1. My argument was not questioning whether Wesker can PRODUCE the meter. I know Wesker can produce the meter.
#2. My main argument was the method of attack. For example, Magneto has a trijump high/low mixup. Wolverine has a downward pressure into left-right mixup. Wesker mainly has left-right with the threat of command grab. When skill level rises, so does their defense and the easier it is to block Wesker’s left-right. It’s easy to get blown up by Magneto or Wolverine because their onslaught is relentless and it’s easier to put them into that mixup. It’s been covered MANY times as the reason why Wesker is weak in these matchups.
The reason why I was so stubborn was because I was thinking on a high skill level basis assuming that both players were capable of that kind of defense. Realistically, a lot of people aren’t that good at defense, so catching people off guard to build that meter is not a problem. That is the reason why I was wrong, but NOBODY was capable of telling me that in detail like I just explained.
Since I am a FG veteran, I already knew what was going to pose a bigger problem so I already saw the issues ahead of time. The argument was a result of people not understanding how hard someone can get rushed down and the methods they use to do it. It was in fact, these arguments that led me to create Magneto/Phoenix and Wolverine/Phoenix before anybody ran them.
Well you guys keep referring the problem as MY PROBLEM however it is not my problem. People were complaining about it in this thread so I questioned WHY people were having this problem, and I threw solutions out there. PERSONALLY, I know how to deal with dive kicks and berserker slash.
[S]The internet[/S] SRK never forgets.
How could you forget one of the worst statements you have ever seen on this site (which is saying a lot).
Personally I think his statements on Spider-man being a hard counter to Phoenix and Chris’s mine assist as an anti-air were far worse.
Joining in 08 = Fighting game veteran? lolwut
Yeh in fact wolvie dive kick will almost always be at disadvantage and can be throw punished if not covered by an assist, pretty regularly, or even more guaranteed XFC into throw punish. But wolverine often has some sort of speed boost (xf or beserker charge or both) in which it is not punishable.
And yeh beserker slash is the main problem, its a teleport into an instant cross up/non cross up that knocks them up for a free juggle if you xx into speedup or juggle with assist. The thing covers 3/4 of the screen in an instant and combined with akuma assist which covers almost the same distance its broken. Especially when your new char is coming out and cant call assists for 5 secs or so
Ugh, why the needless insults? There’s only one reason in the world possible to say something like that: to make that person feel bad about themselves. Period. We’re all fighting the same good fight. And let’s say, for the sake of argument, that he doesnt understand the game as well as you. Does that **need **stating directly? Is anything positive accomplished by it? Would Justin Wong chat Marvel with you and later be like, “Damn, that guy’s really got a firm understanding of this game!” ? Lots of us on this thread have lots of good shit to offer and provide a lot of food for thought, but it’s fucking annoying to see mid level players insulting other mid level players about being mid level players, no matter how misguided their opinions might or might not be.
On a separate note, did P. Gorath ever answer DevilJin’s question about what he was trying to specifically say when he asked if people were still blowing smoke up Wolverine’s ass? I was hoping to read something really insightful from a top player, but were you just trying to get a rise out of people?
And finally, I have to say… after 160 pages of people arriving at virtually the same top 10 lists, and then debating why #3 is actually number #5 and #5 is actually #3, only 2 people bothered to respond to my post about strong archetypes?? Seems like discussion of powerful duos and team configurations are where Marvel tiering needs to go (either that, or addressing the Phoenix team-regular team-antiPhoenix team metagame). I tried to start a thread about duos and duo strategy a few months ago, with tons of specific examples and analysis, and got ripped on for not putting it in a general discussion thread (and was duly insulted for it too). That reaction was one of the most heaping fucking piles of collective retardation Ive ever seen posters and mods shit into on this site. Talk about a lack of understanding of the game, fuck.
It’s not humanly possible to react to Berserker Slash crossing you up and change your guard. All you can do is either stay far enough away he can’t cross you up, or guess. You have at most some where around 5 frames to see that’s going to cross through you and react, and this isn’t even counting the inherent input delay of the game. People just do not have sub 10 millisecond reaction times. It’s unreasonable to expect that, ever.
Ehh…
Personally I dislike talking about the concept of duos is because duos feel… incomplete. It implies that you can slot in any old character into the 3rd position and still run around and win, which could happen, but definitely won’t at high level play. Marvel is after all a 3 man game and you want that 2nd character to mesh well with the team… or at least the assist you are using. Unless of course that last character is Phoenix.
Archtypes are confusing and unneeded to me, especially since you can classify teams into 4 basic kinds:
Rushdown
Keepaway
Mixed
Phoenix
This is just me though.
I NEVER SAID THAT IT WAS, just that the technology is there, and unexplored because all you guys do is sit there and shit on stuff you haven’t put into motion. I would have at least tried it out. All I’m saying.
THAT’S BECAUSE IT IS, TRY IT SOME TIME INSTEAD OF THEORIZING JESUS CHRIST
I’ve been here since I was 18~19. I’m now 27 going on 28 on day of Evo. One day I’ll be there
then tell those guys to not insult me then. Which is what they did. Whenever they stop doing that and start trying shit out then maybe we’ll talk.
exactly. and I’m trying SO FUCKING HARD to work with people here but people don’t make it easy when they’re shocked at some of the things I’m saying. It seems so out of the realm of their understanding that I might as well not even say it. I sunk A LOT of time to study and research this game but fucking idiots like ogrekiller saying shit like Chris’s mine is NOT anti-air when I’ve played Team RE since the damn game came out, I understand WTF my shit does. He refused to actually go into the game, play with that assist and find out why I said it was an anti-air, and then come back here and say it’s one of the dumbest things I’ve said? WTF? Fuck that shit homie. That’s ignorant shit. I’m here to spread knowledge but that doesn’t help when people aren’t receptive and experimental. There’s too much theory going on and not enough actual experimenting and exploring.
I had a whole thread on it but nobody posted to it apparently people didn’t think it was anything worth it since it didn’t come from a “top” player. Lemme go dig up the link.
the thread is going round n round talking about the same character , people don’t really wanna talk about what they don’t know about or what they see on steam
I responded with sarcasm and disbelief because you basically just told everyone “when it’s heads, call heads. when it’s tails, call tails.” The entire point of the mix-up is that he has the control to wind up on whichever side he wants and it’s very difficult to see. I’d wager often the Wolverine player doesn’t even know which side he’s going to end on. Additionally, when an assist is called, the assist can begin hitting you in the frames right after he transitions sides (or not). It’s very hard to recognize in that split second that he actually did cross you up and then correct your block.
I can guarantee you that the best players know to block to the point and not assists - they still get opened up by it all day long.
Then there’s the concept of risk/reward, which your instruction on Berserker Slash mix-ups and your Captain America/Ryu team completely ignores. You can TK shield slashes all day along - you have to be correct so many times compared to Wolverine for that to pay off. If you throw out one wrong Stars and Stripes anticipating a dive kick, you die. If you hit it? You get basically nothing for it.
Compare that to what happens when Wolverine gets or misses his Berserker Slash or instant overhead mix-up.
I appreciate that you’re looking for solutions and you’re willing to go outside the box to find them, but the things you’re suggesting haven’t been backed up by any competitive gameplay and they don’t even make much sense in theory.
I dont even want an answer from P. Gorath anymore. I hope he continues to do nicely at WNF but that’s about it. Having a conversation with him after remotely comparing Tron to Wolvie…it was just for fun at that point. You can’t blow smoke up Wolverine. Not until he stops being auto pilot as fuck and able to kill you with ridiculously easy to manage concepts. Wolverine is the smoke. If all you got is riddles about the overall strength of a character that makes Phoenix twice as annoying…then I dunno.
This… this is where the tier list should be heading toward
at this “early” stage in the game I feel that this is a pretty good list of arctypes
like What could be a good counter to say… Wolvie/(magneto, SHulk, Wesker, Dante)/Akuma?
or to a “Wesker” team (Wesker/someone who likes meter/Doom Ironman or sentinel)
What can the old school team variant (like MSS, Storm Sent (Akuma or Haggar), Taskmaster/Sentinel/(Dante Tron Haggar) do against say a Zero/xxx/Sentinel team
Like I can see the 5 “top” team arctypes used right now
Wolverine/xxx/Akuma or Sentinel aka team BFFs. who plays this team… well just about everyone on the planet.
Zero(Wesker)/xxx(glitch starter)/Projectile (Doom Sent Ironman Taskmaster) very close to team BFFs but with Zero out to cut bitches.
xxx/Ammy/xxx Dog in the middle makes for a happy team (where ever she is run the doggod works and plays well with anyone)
She-hulk/xxx/Tron~ this team hurts… alot… I’ll call teams like this team 'FTA’
xxx/xxx/Phoenix~ about a million ways to play this team all of them lending their hand to the “Chicken Head/ whack bitch/ crack(meter) whore”
I partially disagree. I do agree that trying to reaction left right block it is not viable at all, however there are a lot of tools various characters have that negate the need for reactions to b that quick whether it’s option selects that hit both outcomes or ways to avoid the situation entirely there are tools for addressing it although they’re character, assist, and situation dependent.
@soviet:
Marlin plays Ammy at the end, Magneto center.
