Yeah I just dont like Task as a character. He’s boring to me. He’s like the Balrog of the game. He works but there’s nothing to do with him but zone and poke with some normals. TBH I think he actually has a more interesting gameplan/mix up if you add assists to him but if he’s in the back he’s just a clean up character without the ability to do what I’d really like him to do with an assist. He definitely has a considerably better poking game than Doom but I like Doom’s ability to rush and go through the advance guard once he gets in. Fits my play style more. Plus I still have the zone if I need it.
Task arrows are good especially because they keep the opponent in a better state to juggle afterwards and dont damage scale as hard as doom beam. Yet I like how Doom beam takes up the entire playing field during its active frames and it causes a soft knockdown if you dont juggle them after the hit which is great for my play style which is just trying to get in there.
Felax and 10stars both do great with X-23/Dante/Dormammu(Tron).
I really don’t like Tron anymore though. I’m learning Dante and Magneto just so I can play Josh Wongs team (Dante/Magneto/Wesker). I think it’s one of the best teams atm, better than Wolvie teams.
Yeah Dante/Mag/Wesker covers a lot of bases. You dont really get an assist backing up Magneto for long range unless Dante is still alive but Magneto has the 7 frame L disruptah and shockwave which is still strong enough if you gotta firefight. Plus Wesker gives you unblockables and Wesker in the back…is well…Wesker in the back.
When you put three of the best characters on one team, good things just seem to happen. Those three characters in almost any order seems to work out. I can see why he does it that way, so Dante can cover his teleports. It’s also easy/lazy to do Magneto’s Hyper Grav combos if you have Wesker to start it.
well if she tries to jumpback H fireball he can teleport bitchslap her. I know that the ability to teleport at the opposisng character could definetly be considered a counter since she has to be more careful or she’ll get put down.
Nothing honestly. Someone is going to say corner bunker it up with flame carpet, but that only works until Phoenix realizes she has TK Overdrive. The suggestion to teleport in response to TK Shot H is pretty bad, unless you have amazing reactions. TK Shot H is 40 frames total, Dorm’s teleport 30. The TK Shot will already be in the air by the time he can swing, so he’s only going to land a single air hit anyway.
It’s bullshit to you that have no understanding of the game. My Captain America team is pretty decent at taking down average Wolverines (Captain America/Ryu/Dante) Against Wolverine, if he puts you on the defensive, wait for the dive kick and knock him out of the air with Stars and Stripes. Use Jam Session to shut down his dive kicks whenever applicable. When he lands on the floor, you have two options, TK Shield Slash harassment or call Tatsu. Get a good hit confirm into the biggest combo you can possibly do and DHC to Ryu. This is the reason why you use Ryu instead of Akuma. If you miss your Hyper CS, Ryu can correct the mistake with an aimed Shinkuu.
His point should be crippled by now and he may or may not continue with Wolverine. If he does, and calls out an assist, Shinkuu Hadouken XF Shinkuu Hadouken to blow out a character. Wolvie (who he himself is crippled) and his last should be left. Switch back to Captain America whenever it’s safe and go back to TK Shield Slash harassment.
It’s a bit of an advanced team, but it’s good with a decent understanding of the game. The problem with people here is that no one really understands the tools in the game outside of the accepted standard. Get out of the mindset of living in a box and explore the game. Pick a character you like, play with him, find out what he needs and then look at the roster and try out characters that suits that role. Try to get characters that have as much synergy with your point as possible which includes DHC, Assists, etc. The strategy guide is excellent at analyzing moves and it should give you a good idea what to do with your character.
The metagame is constantly fluctuating and instead of sitting there getting beat by the same shit thinking that it’s impossible, take a look closer at the top and find out how to counter it or deal with it.
Doom is a dope character. That flying kick, nice tools, and easily a touch of death character with his ability to carry you to the corners. i think he is the overall best combo of anchor and assist.
well he has a fast super, phoenix cannot run from him without being hit by a pillar and his level 3 spell hits everyware , and thats all i can think of tbh
Yeah. I know it’s not as comparable, but you can’t fight Sentinel a certain way, and it applies a little bit to Wolverine too. You have to fight him without risking too much with all of his safe options. Sentinel has safe options, they’re just not fast. But that was at the beginning of the game. Eventually people will realize that Wolverine, though top tier, can be fought in somewhat effective fashion. And if you fail to fight him in an effective fashion he will stomp all over you. etc.
I don’t think it requires as much complaining as I’ve seen though - he is easy to play, and very good, but I think some characters are better that may be harder to play but still better. And while he can steamroller teams hard, so can many other characters. It may require more effort by other players, but I don’t think that matters all that much…
but yeah: A lot of characters are still viable in tournament, it’s just that Wolverine being the easiest means that he is currently the most consistent and that a lot of the top players who realize this aren’t going to spend as much time learning something that may have more potential than Wolv/Akuma but not be as consistent as that team for EVO.
I honestly think Amaterasu has to be one of the best characters in the game, even if I didn’t mention it earlier. Her time slow super is absolutely one of the best in the game, the lack of meter gain being the only thing that could possibly make it balanced.
@akuma
the problem isn’t dive kicks, it’s berserker slash, which Keits managed to correctly predict, props to him. Getting hit by dive kicks [not in combo] is, IMO, lack of matchup knowledge.
If you’re not point blank, you can also TK Overdrive through his super. It’s fast, but it’s not instantly full screen. I’ve personally had a lot of success teleporting in reaction to “Like that?” and punishing Purification. I’m repeating myself here, but I feel if Dorm doesn’t kill her on her entry, she wins the match up.
This thread seems to be just a complete circle now.
(XF1 Wolverine is stupid -> DP level 3 is random broken -> Some debate about Zero compared to wolverine -> Dante’s potential -> XF1 Wolverine is stupid) x N
He’s top 10, frequently used in touneys and anyone who has seen Masta CJ and Ryan Hunter’s Dorm knows how terrifying he is in the right hands.
If you want to play defensively, he’s undoubtedly an awful choice. Poor anti air, poor zoning, flame carpet gets blown up easily by tatsu. He’s at his best when you play him aggressively, exploit his teleport (the overhead one is probably the hardest teleport to read in this game) and the terrific range of his normals. And the huge damage he can do.
wtf am i reading…poor anti air? his c.M beats EVERYTHING, poor zoning?? not with a beam assist, so flame carpet gets blown up by one assist big fucking deal it cuts the screen in half and gives him easy unblockables, i do agree about his overhead teleport though shit is like the definition of ambiguous Dorm is top 10
dorms c.M is the hand of GOD (or the devil) it seriously makes me want to break stuff, and then HOW LONG does the stupid hitconfirm into launcher last for that damn move… jesus, its like a freaking dp that stupid thing.
Is it a case of people not knowing how to block it? I’m not saying its easy but the method to block the crossover is to switch blocking from backwards to forwards as Wolverine crosses over to the other side. In street fighter it’s a lot easier since you see them flipping over and you just hold forward but in Marvel it’s a bit tougher since it appears to be taking a risk letting go of block while an assist is hitting you from the front. If done correctly it should look like you’re in blockstun the whole time but it’ll correct itself to face Wolverine.
