Except that XF can viably kill off 2 people with little effort and he has one of the gameās strongest and safest left right mix ups and can convert random hits to big damage way too easily to not be stupid tier. Easy instant overheads with assist and a c.L that you have to go way too hard out of your way to outpoke and leads to damage easily. Unless you can bring up really good reasons why he shouldnāt be at least in top 5 ATM then i dunno.

Not as easily as Tron? What does that even mean? Tron has to do a ton of shit in a combo just to do damage but Wolverine has to do like fucking nothing. Sure once she spends 2 or 3 meters (which is not good cuz characters like Zero can 1.1 you with one meter now) after doing a bunch of shit she gets a lot of damage or whatever but the mix up Wolvie gets with an assist after finishing a combo is really strong. Youāre pretty much always in some type of left right or instant overhead bullshit anytime Wolvie is near you. With Tronā¦not so much. WTF why are we even talking about point Tron vs. point Wolvie? This must be some kind of joke.
Not only does Wolvie get big damage for no effort but like a true top tier his ability to put you in another combo afterwards is top notch. Tron may get a lot of damage once she presses on a bunch of buttons and spends 2 or 3 meters but if she drops the combo how is she gonna hit you again? A tick into grab? Maybe. Random jump around H? Maybe. Still nowhere near what Wolvie can do with an assist which he will pretty much always have.
Whatās wrong with requiring XF cancel? Have you not seen that shit run the game? Hell if Wolverine wants to get tricky he can just do 2 reset combos and kill one of your charactersā¦then save his XF1 to have a chance at viably scraping up your other 2 characters and winning the WHOLE match with level 1 XF. by that time heāll also have level 3 just incase Wolvie needs that to go along with his top tier XF1. The fact that such a scenario is even viable that easily specifically for Wolvie is just insane. Thatās something that DHC glitch is trying to hold a candle to.
Wolverineās c.L allows him to do amazing things that a lot of the other cast canāt like rapid fire on something that a lot of characters are forced to trade with instead of clean beat. It also makes his hit box unnecessarily low to the ground allowing him to bypass Tron or Haggar assist and then block before the opponent catches on. Other characters would like to do that. You could always dash in first if you dont like the range or call an assist first to lock them down. I had to change up a bnb/block string with X23 just because of Wolverineās c.L. LOL.
All of that is true, and on paper it looks bad and everythingā¦ then you get into a match and get destroyed before you even know whatās going on.
Look, we can argue this for days, but for heavenās sake you are P. Gorath, the WNF season 3 winner or something like that right? You got destroyed by Wongās Wolverine before. Hell- you even used Wolverine yourself in one of those matches. Next WNF, go up to JWong if heās attending and ask him for a rematch. The Wolverine game has been refined to the point where he can and will kill your team in about 30s if you donāt guess correctly in the first 3s of the match.
Edit: In fact, in watching that P.Gorath v Wong video we already saw many of the strategies that Wong and Tokido would put into place with Wolverine these past weeks. 1 hit confirm- if Phoenix team snap out and run 50/50 train on Phoenix; if unsuccessful continue snapping. If successful kill and run 50/50 train on incoming character then xfactor for the kill and repeat 50/50 on last char, only with xfactor on this time.
Yeah Wolverine with XF1 makes the game random as shit. Bullshit normals, bullshit turn on XF with bullshit ABCS BBCS to win combos and you kill one SO FAST that you have enough time to viably kill the next person with that same XF1 before the next person comes out. Thereās a reason Tokido runs Phoenixerine in the front and Phoenix in the back. You die early or die later. Wolverine will most likely kill at least one of your characters early and if he didnāt get the second you will most likely have to deal with 4 characters or a still very solid healing field regular Phoenix.
You might wanna have a talk with J.Wong. Not that he gets tiers right everytime but last time I heard him say something about tiers he and Floe said Wolvie was number 1. Not even top 5. Number 1. LOL. Unless thatās changed I would say Justin knows what heās talking about especially after what Tokido has done with his mess of a team.

Hey youāre the one that uses Wolverine. Obviously you and J.Wong (and Tokido and Toxy and anybody else who has any sense to pick that character to win a match) relate somewhere there too. Iāve researched the scene enough to know that J.Wong gets tiers wrong sometimes (like half the time he said anything about SFIV tiers) but heās pretty on point with the Marvel stuff ima have to say. Iām still hesistant to say heās number one in the game but he surely is looking no less than top 3 ATM. I tried not to give in to the Wolvie shit trust meā¦then shit happened.

Well yea, because he and Tokido been tearing it up these past month or so, and that match video showed exactly WHY wolverine is so effing good.
Look, if you have a great answer against Wolverine, Iād love to hear it because I donāt really want to see him win EVO, but saying that he people are blowing smoke up his ass- no oneās doing that. He is undisputedly the best point character in the game and for all his weaknesses, the strengths in which he excels in - which are mixups, cracking people open and OTKs with xfactor, are pretty damn hard for anyone to overcome.
The chances of Wolverine not winning Evo pretty much rest on whether or not some team with Phoenix ends up winning instead. Itās very likely that Wolverine and Phoenix could win Evo. Weāre going to have to pray that one of them wins instead of both. If Wolvie + Phoenix wins Evo thatās gonna be unhype as fuck. Best Friends + Phoenix winning Evo would make the stream monsters call for patches like never before. It would also just make me laugh that the most effortless team possible won Evo. LOL.
Being a supporter of lower tier characters myself I triedā¦I really tried to find reasons that Wolverine and Phoenix would get figured out butā¦the shitās done now. Wolverine and Phoenix found out then when they combine themselves together they somehow make themselves into some crazy superpower when we were already bitching about them seperately.
I could tell that Sentinel didnāt have the mix up back during the 1.3 days to be an unstoppable force. I could tell that people would eventually figure out snap in mix ups and ways to lame out XF3 D.P. Though now I can also tell that Wolvie just gets too much for too little and can now pair himself with another character that gets too much for too little and everyone else is not getting enough for a lot. The fact that you gotta fight two Phoenixes now is a bit much.

I have faith that during this one month people are going to put time in the lab and find some really cheap shit with other characters.
The first answer that comes to mind is Amateratsu, or VJoeā¦ which means Amateratsu essentially.
The 2nd answer is keepaway/aircontrol, which doesnāt really work either. Keepaway doesnāt usually have a chance to setup full screen control, and air control really doesnāt count for much, because sooner or later, you WILL land. And really, what can you do in the air against Wolverine if youāre not Phoenix? Throw a fireball and hope for the best? Best you can do is keep up there and get a meter building assist and get that 4 bars for Phoenixā¦ if youāre going that route.
I dont know I think weāve found the cheapest shit the game has to offer. There will be other āreally goodā shit that gets figured out but nothing is going to be CHEAPER than Wolvie and Phoenix. Cheap works in two ways. Either someone finds a way to technically make a character cheap or thereās the cheap where you just put concepts together and people canāt fuck with it. Anytime concepts like Wolverine XF1 and XF3 DP become overwhelmingly cheap shit you usually canāt surpass it with technology. When itās that easy to be that cheap you have to roll with it or else. Until Capcom patches XF expect XF to make those 2 to be the big constant problems of the game.
Weāll find ways to fight it sure. Though find things that are better than XF1 Wolvie or XF3 DP? Do you actually want to fight something better than that shit? The only way that could happen if somebody finds something more brainless and random.

Can someone explain to me how ātoo much for too littleā applies more for Wolverine than Dante, Wesker or Ammy? If Wolverine is really some overpowered character thatās extremely easy to learn why the heck did the Wolverines of Noel Brown/SmoothViper/Remix get pwned in East Coast Throwdown? Heck, how many Wolverines out there are as powerful as the ones in the hands of Wong or Tokido?
Fact is, the one that is number 1 isnāt Wolverine, itās Wong/Tokido.
