MvC3 Actual Balance/Potential Tiers Discussion

The timing of these Phoenix kill setups are extremely tight… She-Hulk’s is 4 frames. Good luck pulling it off in tournaments. She-Hulk is basically free-frag for Dark Phoenix, while Spiderman with his mobility and his maximum spider actually has a chance of beating Dark Phoenix by himself even without instant kill setups.

Is 4 frames really enough to be considered unviable when the we are talking about ending a combo with this? If people can pull off 1 frame stuff in many other games I’m certain they can pull off 4 frames here. Skrull is the only dude whose setup is impractical.

Tell me. What can Spiderman do against homing ball?

Oh, that’s right, nothing. Spiderman has no chance against a Phoenix who doesn’t screw up horribly, I don’t know why we’re even having this argument. Shulk DHCs just as well as Spidey does, and is actually a viable character besides.

Spidey has air dashes and his own projectiles. He is able to put up a far better fight alone than She-hulk is.

People underestimating spidey big time.

Spidey’s air “dashes” are slow and have predictable trajectories, and… I’m just laughing at you for suggesting that web ball has any use in anything but very gimmicky combos. Have you ever actually seen a good She-Hulk play?

Also, assist value and all that. Of which Spidey has none, and Shulk’s got one of the better ones.

This is internet discussion ladies and gentlemen. People who don’t actually play the matchups talk about the them.
The rest of the setups are usually not practical, with you needing to count hits, and the phoenix could just get hit from some random projectile before that and drive you crazy.
But MS XF UWB is totally practical. Spiderman can’t attack Phoenix himself but he never needs to. It’s other characters who can and do hit her, and then DHC into him for the kill to get rid of Dark Phoenix. Have fun trying to run away and win with chip damage only while the clock is running out.

I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or really are just that stupid.

As I just said, if you’re going to rely on DHC’s anyways, you might as well use She-Hulk on your team instead of Spidey, considering she’s useful for more than just killing Phoenix before DP.

What can She-Hulk do against homing ball? If you want to talk about her air grabbing Phoneix why can’t I talk about Spidey nailing her with a Maximum Spider?

You must answer these two questions with a ‘yes’ before I start caring about what you have to say, because clearly you can’t see the difference between trying to get the killing hit of a combo to be an OTG in an actual match, and having a cinematic super which no matter how much HP the opponent had, always ends with him in the position you need.

People calling it impractible must not play Dante who has 1-4 frame links all over the place.

Anybody without a good wave dash is kinda fucked for regularly air throwing Phoenix. X23 can do it because she has the fastest wave dash in the game so she can get to Phoenix before she throws 2 fireballs even. She’s Hulk’s dash is too sluggish to regularly get in range to air throw Phoenix.

In general against regular Phoenix homing fireballs you shouldn’t be using offense to beat them. That’s what they want because the closer you are the more effective their fireballs are. The only way to beat them unless you have some air beam super or a teleport is to use defense. Runaway when she goes up to throw them. They disappear after a few seconds and the farther you move from her when she decides to throw the fireball the less safely she can teleport. This will force them to either use traditional rushdown to get in or do a bad teleport which is easily punished if the fireball is far away and about to dissipate. Realistically a Phoenix player will teleport after throwing 2 H shots because if they throw a 3rd they can’t do anything else until they touch the ground. The best they can do is turn on flight, throw one more and dash after you or throw a couple more and land.

It helps if you have a double jump or triple jump so you can stay in the air and force the homing fireballs to stay airborne so they wont follow Phoenix’s offense as well. Purposely regular jumping or super jumping backwards forces the fireballs to continue moving up in the air instead of travelling down to help her perform teleport traps. Her ability to amount an offense without the H shots following her teleport is pretty limited allowing you to dictate the pace vs. her a bit better.

I’d care more about your point with MS if it actually killed Phoenix all by it’s lonesome. But it doesn’t.

Because I’m not arguing that She-hulk can get in on and kill Phoenix, I’m arguing that while they both lose to Phoenix, She-hulk at least has some other utility on the team outside of killing DP. Comprende?

i’ve done it a few times with haggar…its allot more spacing dependent but it can be done…

WTF SOMEONE IS COMPLAINING ABOUT SPIDERMAN LOL it takes skill to actually use spiderman unlike ryu, ken, ammy

Ken is in this game?

Ken and Morgan confirmed for the last 2 characters.

Morgan?

seriously guys I need help how the eff do I counter morrgian’s skull drive its freaking annoying everyone online just keeps repeating it

And I am arguing that you are underestimating Spiderman by a lot. He’s nowhere near as bad as what you think he is, ATM he’s a mid tier character that is probably not far from where Storm and Trish are on the tier list. His air dash isn’t fast but neither is it slow, and you can cancel it easily so it’s anything but predictable. Then with the web zip and the right assist it’s much easier to get in at anyone with Spiderman than you think. His air attacks are also some of the best in this game. The only thing holding him back are poor assists and how easy it is to punish him, something you can make up for by using him cleverly and creativity. With the right players pushing him I have a feeling he can go much higher on the tier list than people think.

Anyway back to She-Hulk’s Phoenix kill setup, it seems that it’s not a versatile setup. she needs either an OTG assist (video shows Wesker gun and Sentinel punch) or DHC from invincible hyper, which depends on whether you have the meters and your team order. It’s practical but I don’t think it will be a reliable way of dealing with Phoenix.

Have you tried blocking?
