I beg to differ about him not needing an assist. It takes a special character to not need an assist and few characters can fit that role. Even power houses like Wesker and Wolverine need an assist IMHO. And not needing an assist doesn’t automatically make you good. For example: Dante doesn’t NEED an assist to be very effective but neither does Sentinel. However Wesker and Wolverine are both better characters than Sentinel.
1 bar death combo in the corner= spiderman is a powerhouse as well.
assist dependent yeah, but so are wolverine and magneto.
Magneto is one of the least assist dependent characters in the game… but Wolverine is totally right.
Are you talking about the Web Throw loop? That combo is DEFINITELY great but it is more impractical than the Zero Lightning Loop right now. It requires (from what I’ve been told and what’s being discussed here) is a raw launcher + other specifics. Also, how strict is the timing? And if it starts from a raw launcher can it begin anywhere outside the corner?
His combos can go corner to corner iirc. Combo into S TK Web Throw isn’t hard. He can use Peekaboo, Doom Missile or Mystic Ray to get a few web throws in 1 combo (damage unscaled).
And I still haven’t gotten an answer on his web throw infinite. I know I saw this shit.
Having a favorable matchup against an S tier doesn’t make him S tier >:/ He still has the rest of the cast to fight against.
why is the zero loop impractical?
All I’ve seen so far is that Spidey is a powerhouse against training dummies. While I find the combos in such videos to be very pretty and interesting and elaborate, the fact remains that there isn’t anybody applying them in actual match play.
Spider-Man is not going to climb the tier lists until people start applying all this theory. For example, consider Viper. She was a lot of theory, and nobody really believed it, and then guys like MarlinPie, Chrisis, and KBeast got on some streams and made guys melt. So Viper climbs the tier-lists.
I get that Rashaan made Top 8 at CEO, but he wasn’t doing all of this theoretical Web Swing loop and instant Phoenix kill stuff, so I’m still not too impressed with Spidey at this point.
Though I am happy that we’re discussing someone besides Wolverine.
People aren’t performing it in tournaments at high levels. That’s all I meant. Zero is just under represented also. I am not saying it’s too hard to execute but during an actual match performing that many reps of TK’d Lightning can be costly if messed up.
It probably has more to do with the fact that he is under represented though.
I feel as if we will see more Spidey with this new tech. Yeah, he isn’t the best, but he has a strong place in the right teams. The only thing I wonder is, will he be a counter-pick only, and if so, will he be the anchor. Having a sure-fire kill Phoenix combo waiting is nothing to sneeze at. Especially considering her increasing popularity. Yeah, the sure-fire kill requires a lot out of you and the team, but it’s a shit load better than praying for **1 lucky hit, **and we’ve seen that hit not come many a time.
Then again, She-Hulk has setups as well. Though they are stricter, especially with the DHC, but it’s fucking something. So maybe we won’t see a influx of Spidey. Perhaps We’ll just see Evil Rahsaan run mad amounts of train on band-wagon online warriors. Who knows.
so its not impratical at all then
My brother can do the 1.1 mil lighting loop regularly in matches. It’s difficult but if you used to play Melty Blood or Guilty Gear regularly like he did it’s not a big deal. Shit is retarded because with one assist and 2 meters (that you build during the combo any way) you can one shot Wesker or even She Hulk I think. Of course like any human he drops it sometimes but to kill off big characters in one combo without XF it’s worth it.
The infinite spidey has is very practical with quite a few setups to go with it. With the right assist yes he is more capable of easier damage but he is capable of dealing mass damage of his own. Just like zero he is under played but don’t write him off because you lack knowledge with him.
Yeah I started learning it with the team I figured Japan would be using (Zero/Dante/Akuma) and got it down pretty consistently. Maybe they’re just saving it for Evo?
Well it’s not like Daigo, Tokido or Mago discovered that combo so they wont be using it. Especially considering AFAIK none of them use Zero. That will just stay as underground Japanese tech unless they bring someone who’s skilled with Zero or someone from the US comes out and does it themselves.
Japan and USA are clearly the only people skilled enough to preform such amazing, and ground-breaking Marvel 3 tech.
BECAUSE -FUCK YOU- TOXY!
Well sorry for using an incorrect word. I meant it was more so un-implemented which makes it irrelevant IMO until it is. It’s noteworthy but not relevant to the meta.
Which is wayyyyyy unfortunate because I love Zero and it’d be sick to see someone pulling it off in a tournament setting.
Frieda.
I was kinda impressed with his setup for the DHC glitch.
I didn’t even know spiderman could do that :o
Spiderman didnt glitch its just moved him closer to get the DHC
…Honestly, I’d rather expect an influx of She-Hulks as Phoenix counters, not only because She-Hulk is probably high tier in her own right, but because she’s far and away better than Spider-Man is.
Not dissing Spidey here, but one of the things that’s always bugged me is the plain and simple fact that in order for him to do this instant Phoenix kill, either he or somebody else has managed to get in on and combo her to almost death point. And this just isn’t realistic. Spidey’s never going to get in on a Phoenix who hasn’t just screwed up so bad the rest of the team feels it, and in every other case, Spidey’s just there for the DHC, which can be done by She-hulk anyways so…
I honestly think people need to stop acting like new technology is instantly impractical. I mean it a long time before stuff like DHC Glitch actually became useful in a match.
