Yeah I get that feeling too. I played Tokido for a bit at final round, and while that was months ago, one of the best players in my area has been putting in serious time with the character and IMO has a better Wolvie than Tokido did when I played him. I’m sure he’s gotten better since then but really, I just feel like I’m getting lucky when I kill wolverine. If they’re running that character you seriously have to do EVERYTHING in your power to kill him ASAP. Hell, blow x factor the moment you block something if you have to and kill him… I’d rather fight dark phoenix than a beast wolverine lol.
It’s like the match starts and if you avoid the initial air throw / berserker slash, then you’re blocking drones, then you have to block the overhead or the low and possibly one more mixup before you even have a chance to move, and by then Akuma is kicking you or the drones are out again and we’re doing it all over again.
You can try counter picking with a haggar assist thrown in but half the time he just misses that short ass fucker, even when you call him in response to a berserker slash.
Sorry, not trying to vent about wolverine but that character is dumb. #1 easily. The amount of thought you have to put into what you’re doing with him is retarded for the amount of rewards you get back from it.
X( omg that hurts then the jwong evo moment against yipes, But seriously wolverine dont hit that hard i mean he at least leaves you with dignity that stiff arm just screams out FREEEEEEE!!!
I think some character are ridiuclously outclassed by the top tiers, but I think some other characters can be decent or somewhat decent. She Hulk is clearly a viable character, and she only needs a good assist to be outstanding. She doesn’t lack too many fundamental flaws that prevent characters like Haggar from being a tier higher. The problem those are the characters that are forced to zone like Arthur, or the characters that are too much of a liability (Hsien-Ko).
To me a viable character brings good reward, is a decent character, and isn’t that much of liability if they are bad scenarios.
I hope you know that wolverine’s damage is around 600 ish average, 750 tops on the best starter with 1 meter. Lol seriously bro, you’re saying 800k with 1 meter is average?
Characters who can do more than that are very few. Off the top of my head, Dante, Task, Zero.
As for vs Trish, don’t forget she has an assist as well. And why would she run into an assist if she divekicks? That’s really situational, but very high divekicks tend to body assists for free, especially 50sent since he stays so long. She can also cancel it with special moves so it’s kinda safe.
Zero can just buster to clear projectiles > teleport = get in for free. Seriously j214M>J.h is like the most brain dead way to get in in this game, and it’s even dumber when you have assists.
I think you’re overrating Wolvie and underrating Zero. Wolvie is very good and easy to use, which is why he and Wesker are dominating right now. Zero is just as good(possibly better), but harder to use so why bother when basic shit can allow you to dominate?
I’m trying to think of all the characters that get 700k+ without using more than one meter? It’s quite a few, most if you let them use an assist.
I know IM and viper both get nearly meter neutral 1million. Yet one character is top tier and another is… not… Damage is but a small piece of the equation. Zero kills you in two hits (sometimes 1) that’s what matters.
Don’t get the wrong impression though, I don’t think Zero is bad at all, he’s top 5 IMO and really fucking good. No matter how many people master Zero’s lightning loops though, he’s never going to have beserker slash, instant overheads, and a dive kick that’s quite that good. (Zero’s is good, but doesn’t lead to huge combos on air hits most of the time).
I also have yet to see any Zero consistently doing the damage and turning everything into a full combo that wolverine does. If you land a raw hit with Zero using no assists beforehand, then you can probably match wolverines damage or surpass it but wolverine requires no assist for most of his combos to get into 700k and can easily DHC into more to kill your character.
Hypothetically, Zero is scarier than wolverine, but we ALWAYS have to factor in human error and ease of use into the equation. Wolverine is easier and does more damage CONSISTENTLY, and has more health so he just might not die in one combo. You also have to factor in that with 800k health, Zero is probably dying to the majority of the cast in one hit, while wolverine will probably take 2 to kill. If we’re looking at the game from a really high level stand point, Wolverine will have more chances at a combeback than Zero will.
Ironmans 1,000,000 combo is impractical though. I don’t know a situation when I would be flying next to them without an assist having just been used or being used at that moment. I think the top tiers all have practicality with their really effective stuff, easy hit confirms turn into training mode combos.
I was being facetious with that link, but he can one shot pretty much anyone in the game if he combos into his level 3 then another Proton Cannon. Note that most of his good combos build about 2 bars.
I’ll say it again though, this doesn’t make Iron Man bad, it just means there’s not a very good reason to pick him. His unibeam assists unique properties are basically it, and most characters don’t care about that.
