flame carpet is too godlike
If someone was to tell me that they think Dormammu should be up there with your top dogs like Magnus and Wesker I would say you have a valid case. Hell im starting to think this. I mean I think Dorm might be one of Dante’s actual few bad matchups. Throw down a flame carpet and step in front of it and Dante can’t just teleport behind you. Then it becomes a zonging battle and I will take tower over purple ball and sword gun any day. Sure FC only lasts a certain amount of frames but doesn’t mean you can’t keep doing it.
Im really trying hard to think of a bad matchup for Dorm. Wesker probably but that is the only one I can think of.
Edit: Also Logan but I don’t think anyone in the game has a good matchup against him
Yeah, Wesker seems to be a bad match-up for Dorm. Maybe Taskmaster? Can his 4H pass through the carpet?
Haggar with the right assist can get it pretty easily. Maybe you haven’t played a good Haggar yet?
I think Akuma is a rather annoying matchup for Dorm. I believe his tatsu can eat the carpet quite easily.
tatsus eats up everything dormammu does.
same with his beam fireball.
I have played good Haggar players, thanks. He can’t get in “easily,” that’s just patently false.
Maybe you’re just not very good at keeping him out?
Annoying isn’t it?
Haggar also works as your first character. He can be a solid battery by virtue of his massive life alone. And landing hits, even when blocked, also builds meter, which has to be considered given Haggar’s base damage output is extremely high. What should be agreed though is that characters like Haggar and Tron should never be your third character, since these characters are only able to function in the presence of teammates.
Because of this, I also feel Haggar’s Lariat assist is overrated. Well actually, it’s pretty amazing overall, but people overlook how good his Steel Pipe Assist is. Space it well, it beats practically everything, and it is one of 3 or so assists in the game that nets you a ground bounce, and for a single hit that does 110,000 damage, that’s huge. Most importantly you don’t spend red life on it, which has to be considered given Haggar’s potential as a battery character.
Haggar can’t get in easily, and is very hard for him to catch runaway characters like Magneto or Storm.
I play She-Hulk/Mag/Tron
And I can tell you that, that is the only possible combination unless you want Mag/She/Tron.
Having Mag last opposed to having mag 2nd with xfactor 2 and a tron assist is amazing.
There are plenty of players with Tron or Hagger last that do very well.
Agreed.
NerdJosh and PR Rog are some players off the top of my head who use Tron as their anchor and they’re always in top 8.
When you use an “assist character” (a term which means less in this game than in MvC2, in my opinion) as your anchor, you just have to know that if you lose your first two characters it will be an uphill battle, accept the fact, move on and understand that you can still win if you play smart.
Maybe not “easily” but considerably easier than without a good assist or with no assist.
I guess. Everyone is aware J-wong beats up people with She Hulk/Ammy/Tron.
You don’t get that much comeback potential though with Tron or Haggar as your last character, and there’s plenty of matches out there featuring that exact problem happening in tournament. Meaning the risk of using early X-factor to capitalize on a mistake is significantly lower for an opposing team.
If you put Tron, Haggar, Sentinel last you pretty much have faith that the 2 characters before them will get the job done before they need to show up.
Tron is a ToD character. Her combo builds 2 bars, she’s definitely hitting you with King Servebot and Lunch Rush or 2 King Servebots and a Lunch Rush if she has 3. She can start the DHC glitch as well. She should definitely be at least somewhere 10-15 or wherever Doom is on tier list for having one of the best assist and being alright given proper assist.
Seriously, does the dreaded Wolverine have a bad matchup? I can’t think of one.
He’s not so hot against Phoenix. And I don’t mean Dark Phoenix, I mean plain old Jean. He can’t really touch her at all from what I’ve seen. Of course this has the problem of Jean being on the field, and not stuck in the back waiting for bars, but thems the breaks.
Very lame Magnetos with Sent assist.
Last time I posted a tier list I got shit for it, anyways I just took 3rd in Marvel at UFGT7 so I guess that gives me more credibility than some of the random SRK scrubs who talk shit and don’t know what they’re talking about, while never having done anything in tournament. Here’s an updated version that includes my experiences at UFGT7. Also whatever Justin plays doesn’t come into consideration because he’s better than everyone else.

Why is Taskmaster so low?
Pretty much. There’s a reason why people put Haggar and Tron last and it’s not because they’re good on point.
