Yeah in reality that’s all S is good for during a block string. Doing something cute and keeping them on their toes. Something that if you use outside of a block string gets low poked out by most of the cast.
s.H is the most retarded normal Wesker has that people dont use enough. Beats lows, plus 2 on block, covers half the screen, cancellable, can’t go wrong.
This is right. Both options are definitely good. No need to get stale with strings. Not everyone knows the frame advantage of S. Some do know but still may think they can punish you and then you have baited them. Not every player is mentally aware and even the best have lapses.
There is no frame advantage on S. It’s just neg one. The only way you can remotely get into an advantageous situation off S is calling an assist. That goes for any move in the game that’s negative of course. A character like Captain America pretty much has to base his whole gameplan on covering unsafe block strings with assists and hoping he gets a mix off back flip or forces a counter hit or throw.
If you go to a tournament and dont know S is neg 1 on block…that’s your problem. Everyone knows Wesker is safe on block. He was made that way because from a distance he literally only has gun to scare you without assists. Assists make his game threatning and he’s rewarded for getting in by having safe strings.
With that statement… why Captain America only has a plus 1 c.L and every other normal is neg 5 to 8 on block is beyond me. The developers probably wanted you to keep calling shield slash with assist after strings or something like that. The point is in a tournament you should always know the specifics of the most popular characters unless you like getting blown up. You should try to learn more about the top characters than even what the players know about them.
I didn’t mean literal advantage. I know it’s -1 on block. I posted that earlier. My mistake for my misuse of language so you could take advantage of it lol. I meant to say “Not everyone knows the frame data of S.”
Yeah that’s fine. It’s just when it comes to frames I dont like when people say frame advantage about moves that are by the frames disadvantaged. It gives a false sense of the frames. He’s safe yeah but he can’t literally set up counter hits off of it unless he’s in something like XF and even then if you mash on c.L the best he’s going get is a trade that saves you from launch damage.
The fact that not everyone knows the frame data on the scrubbiest and IMO one of the least useful moves Wesker has for footsie situations…is sad. Especially considering he is widely considered by many to be one of the best all around in the game. You better know at least what is safe/unsafe of every popular characer if you dont know to the specific frame. You dont have to know by specific frame to know you shouldn’t be pressing buttons after Wesker’s S. You should have fought enough Weskers by now to realize that. He’s not some underused Iron Man or Jill type. He’s the “magic man”. Magical powers are bestowed upon those that use him (which is why I use him).
Yah. I think this whole discussion was summed up by saying that both ways are suitable uses and also that not every player is aware of the frames or they may make a mental mistake allowing you to take advantage.
Speaking of frame data, is it true that EM Disrupter (light) is -15 on block? Seems like some full screen supers would be able to punish that on block pretty easily.
Jump and auto-correct charge shot 623L. If he teleports in front of you you’ll get the lightning dash (easy to combo off of), if he teleports behind you you’ll dash straight down to the ground (also easy to combo after).
Naked teleports are kinda not good.
But yeah assisted teleports are pretty rape (though charge shot is absolutely amazing and helps deal with this very well too)
You can still do some things as Tron. s.H after a certain frame is projectile invincible so you can throw out s.H to absorb the disruptah and cancel that into L drill to get in during his recovery period. If you’re close enough where you can hit Magneto during his recovery with M or H drill you can do that also.
Her f+H has projectile invincible frames on the start up right before she brings the rock to her head and release (active frames). You can press f+H when you think he’s going to disruptah and if that doesn’t catch then wait and throw it out when you think he’s going to release. Once you throw the rock out the rock will eat up his projectile if he throws disruptah at any point while the rock is flying on screen. Especially with a projectile assist covering it can help to get in.
Jumping forward and pressing j.H right before you land will stop it also.
Disruptor -15? I have the guide and I never noticed that. I have to see with what I can punish that. BTW, I think you are able to guard break a character without the need of an assist. I’ll explain more in 30 minutes, after the video finishes uploading. I am pretty sure many characters are able to do it but I’ve only tried it with Zero. If only certain character can do this, prepare to see some change in the tier list. I dunno if this is new, but I’ve only seen Alioune Guard Break videos with a multi-hitting assist, but you can actually do it alone. But as I said I’ll post in a bit.
EDIT: Doom can also do it. Should I post it or is it kind of useless?
Description in video. BTW, Doom can get a much easier setup just by the enemy blocking a normal jump j.M(1hit) followed by j.6H>ad-df then jumping and grabbing right away.
EDIT: If you miss the guard break, it’s still very hard for the opponent to tech the throw either way. I won’t even call it guard break, just an untechable grab.
