they just need to take dp motions away from every move that isnt an actual dp style move. trons bonne strike, ironmans smartbombs and spideys webswing are some of the worst motion to move ideas ever. damn near may as well have a 720 fireball.
there is NO REASON for smartbombs to have that convention. S+atk is the obvious input.
bonne strike being a BACKWARDS dp motion for a forward moving move… is just beyond stupid. as bad as smartbombs if not a bit worse.
web swing should have been HCB web throw should have been DP (i dont know what spideys motion for web throw is but swing probably became dp so tha throw could be HCB or something… wouldnt be a problem if old punch and kick format were still in… but it isnt.
Magneto and Wesker are pretty subpar for Phoenix actually. Magneto burns meter for his ToD combos and if he falls Wesker doesn’t have a reliable assist for his crossup gunport gimmicks. Also Wesker likes XFC which Phoenix also likes.
I have to politely disagree with this.
While I could go either way with Magneto considering his level 3 is pretty awesome but he can easily live without it, Wesker might be one of the single best characters to use on a Phoenix team right now in my opinion. His health is above average, and his strong mix-up game compliments Phoenix due to his strong reliance on meterless damage.
To be fair everybody in the game likes X-Factor, so I don’t think that’s a legitimate reason why Wesker shouldn’t be on a Phoenix team.
I would honestly rather have the old thread replaced with this one, mostly because the OP of the original thread doesn’t even seem to post on SRK anymore. Paper’s here pretty regularly and can at least edit things when necessary.
Well it is kinda hard to open people up with Haggar, his crouching light is 8 frames I think and his standing light is 7 I believe, they do reach fairly far but still slow. His command grab doesn’t have much follow ups to it other than like strictly timed kinda stuff like OTG hidden missiles or Chris’ land mine. Seems like he needs Wesker low shot assist to make it easier for him to open people up.
I do agree that some people don’t do as much damage as they could when they do hit with Haggar and most of BnBs can lead to DHC Glitch with the right second character, so he can do lots of damage when he does get a hit.
I think that I’d rather have a Cap double jump than some invincibility or less startup on his cartwheel; the additional aerial mobility will help him deal with resets and help in many other situations
the only unsafe normal he has is his launcher everything else can be canceled into fly/unfly I’m not sure if you know but iron man can get full combos/ resets of stray hits , you just have to be aware of height to the ground, so being hit by j.m which has a monstrous hitbox when spaced , could easily lead to 750 damage or death by reset
That’s what I said, I mean this is fucking Combofiend. I think he might be a little biased because he plays Spencer, then again, he didn’t put She Hulk in the list. Wolverine as number one is also surprising along with Tron making the cut at all. It is really good to see a list from such a skilled player though, and frankly, I’m sure he knows what he’s talking about.
Top 15 right now #1 Phoenix- the effect she has on the game cannot be denied, and people who actually learn this characters footsies will be rewarded GREATLY even without Dark phoenix force +XF3. DPf+XF3 is why X-factor should be toned way way down IMHO. #2 Ammy- Not many can stop a compitent one, so many different tools to keep you guessing, but she is a pixie #3 Wolverine- this character isn’t human, its a T-1000 programmed only for killing your entire team in 10 seconds… #4 Dante- The games 99 tool swiss army knife. Can enter or end the DHC trick fairly easily for 1 touch kills and seems to get deadlier by the second too. #5 Magneto- Cannot block good ones for more than 2 seconds, best basic projectile in the game, 3 touches=3 deaths for the most part #6 Wesker- A fast moving T-virus Tank. Tied with Magneto TBH #7 Taskmaster- A Diesel powered dump-truck that gets 40 miles per gallon. Can singlehandedly dismantle a lot of teams just by frustrating them into mistakes and always has the meter to make getting hit REALLY “A world of Hurt” #8 Akuma- I’ve Ignored this character too much… Best assist in the top 15 by far and have you ever been more afraid of calling an assist or pressing a button with less than 40% #9 Trish- Only person who can do better running away is MODOK but its much harder to challenge her on the ground or attempting to anti-air her. Has pretty good mixup. Can setup unblockables leading to dead characters very easily from the beginning of the match. #10 Zero- Mixups all day and good luck challenging this character on the ground… ever. #11 Dormammu- Annoys you to death, 2nd Best Hard counter to Phoenix outside of Magneto #12 She-Hulk- I wake up in cold sweats from this characters mix-up ability. Really needs an assist to keep the pressure on but when the pressure is on, wow is it ever hard to stop #13 Doctor Doom- Good meter builder, great great assists all around, Compitent ones can wreck your shit in a hurry. #14 Sentinel- The ones who stuck with him are rewarded by having some of the scariest corner pressure in the game and a great zoning\assist killing game as well. His low health hurts his assist but a-Drones are still way way too hard to ignore as a top assist. If he had higher health he’d still be top 10 #15 Spencer- Hits like a truck and can build his own damn meter. Can start the DHC glitch too off of any normal combo which is a HUGE plus
Tied for #15 Storm… shes too meter hungry but can start the DHC glitch REALLY easily. Zoning wise she’s slightly better than magneto but everything else shes just an understudy to Magneto
Funny enough that wolvies divekick actually is disadventageous, if you hit somewhere else than the tip of the opponents toes. But i agree anyway, they shouldn’t be. They just have to balance angles and hitboxes. Akumas divekick is okay.
The question is, how would you remap DP motions on attacks without causing overlapping? This is a direct consequence of going from 4 attack buttons to 3 attack buttons. I can’t think of any way you could put moves like Bonne Strike on a different input without risking overlapping onto another attack. Hell it’s the reason why almost every character’s level 3 is a DP motion. After their first two supers take up QCF+AA and QCB+AA, there is nothing left for the level 3 except a DP motion unless you want overlapping, or you do D,D+AA for utility supers like Berserker Charge or Astral Vision.
I’ve lost track of how many times I’ll accidentally wall cling instead of teleport with Strider back in MvC2. Overlapping inputs suck.
