The only balance change I would like is that we can please remove what XF already does to characters and make it something more special.
(Give Iron man and Sent more refly, Trish has multiple traps, etc…)
Oh and storm’s whirlwind needs shorter startup time. Can we have an attack limit on glide please? instead of one, make it like 5.
I know people will hate me for this but, whiffing normals to build meter would actually help a handful of the low tiers.
P.S. AM I the only one that thinks that a button layout change (Not asking for one) would buff some characters due to the being able to hit the kick button faster than they already are? (I.E. Trish, Thor, you know, in an A.D.) Please PM me the answer as I know the internet loves a good argument, just trying not to derail the thread.
This is the only thing in this thread at the moment I can 100% get behind.
My changes for other people to disagree with:
Dark Phoenix and Phoenix should not have seperate x-factor values, or if they do, they need to be reversed from what they are now. (Seriously, why does Dark Phoenix get a 33% better X-factor damage boost, when she already does 20% more damage, before feathers, than Phoenix?)
Change Dark Phoenix Rising to always trigger on point if at least 1 meter remains, 20% of maximum HP restored per meter consumed.(Because I prefer consistency.)
Both of those are of course assuming we can’t just delete Dark Phoenix Rising, and give Phoenix more HP, with or without Healing Field adjustments.
True.
But he’s not a terrific character and nerfing his assist affects him as a member of the team in general, and that’s something you have to take into consideration.
It’s like nerfing Hsien-Ko’s pendulum assist but not buffing anything else about her on point. At that point it’s like stealing a blind kid’s candy, then pushing him down and kicking him repeatedly while eating his candy.
Last thing I remember in the old topic were 2/3 discussions:
-Storm
-Wolverine
-MODOK
Renegade was debating Devil Jin’s analysis of Storm
People were calling Wolverine the herp derp character
Someone posted a MODOK vid and got people interested in talking about the giant head.
When it comes to tier lists, everyone has their own opinion, but most people are able to agree on the bottom tier characters. It’d probably be easiest to start there. As a Hsien-Ko player, I suggest placing her on the very bottom. She is hands down the worst character in the game and there’s no real reason to debate it.
A tier list should only take into account that character’s potential on point. A character should never be placed higher simply because they can contribute a good assist to a team under certain circumstances, because when or if you’re forced to use them on point - god forbid, as an anchor - all of their weaknesses become magnified tenfold. What should also be considered is a character’s ease of use. Someone who has flawless execution and takes the time to invest in C.Viper can make her godly, but does that speak for the character or the player? One more thing to consider is the assist factor - as in, this character is good “if” they have an ideal assist to help aid them in their otherwise weak areas. Depending on how glaring that weakness is, characters who fall into this category should be labeled mid to low tier at most.
Overall, I agree with Paper’s list for the most part, with the exception of Felicia, Morrigan and Ryu. They are at worst, C tier.
That’s a pretty good summary of the last 2-3 pages, more or less.
There was also a lot of talk about Iron Man and his potential viability being thrown around which was getting kind of interesting as well.
-I think Thor is going to end up being mid/mid-low tier character, and He will be on par with Iron Man.
-Hsien-Ko is pretty bad, not as bad as most think given results. So far you could argue Hsien-Ko have done better than Haggar, Arthur, etc have in tournaments.
Arthur, on the other hand, has King’s Armor, which increases his effectiveness about 100x, and has one of the best level 3’s in the game. Having said that, Arthur and Hsien-Ko are best put in the same tier, at the bottom.
I personally think gimmicky characters like Super-Skrull, Hulk, Chun-Li, Shuma Gorath, and Spiderman (all in OPs C Tier) are worse then characters with sleeping potential and annoying quirks like Viewtiful Joe, Thor, Felicia, Morrigan, and Jill (all in D Tier). For the time being though they can’t be higher because not much is revealed.
Hsien-Ko is very immobile but LLND made her look surprising effective in the most recent Wednesday Night Fights. As the OP said though, “not all players are equally skilled.”
Haggar is a bad, bad character. You have to cater your team around assist that make him effective and IMO he HAS to be run on point. If he is run on point, you lose the use of his assist initially and possibly he dies before you can switch. He is a strategical nightmare ><"
Arthur his HANDS DOWN the worse character in this game as of now. I cannot see how he can improve either but time will tell.
My team is two C tiers and an S tier. So I guess that means my team averages out to a B minus? Not bad I guess.
For some reason I get the feeling people aren’t doing everything possible with Haggar yet when he gets in. Unless it really is that hard for him to open people up.
