MvC3 Actual Balance/Potential Tiers Discussion

lol most of the time i see flash jill, she usually get bodied ( thats because shes so ass, although hes good with her ). his iron man puts in work for sure tho.

Seen clockw0rks Jill too, and even that didn’t convince me that she was any good. It was hard for her to get in even with assists. Only reasons people may use Jill is for the DHC glitch, but with the tier list I made I didn’t base it on the DHC glitch. I would of preferred the MvC2 Jill over this new one.

I find myself agreeing with this. perhaps four lists Who is strictly a point character, who is the 2 slot, who’s specifically an anchor, and who can effectively do all three.

but…but…but Bionic Armmmmm T_T

I see Spencer good on point, but his assist is pretty good for unorthodox teams that need a wallbounce. I also agree that hes better on point or 2nd rather than anchor.

:360: Spencer on point with a beam and a defensive assist = yummy yummy in my tummy

DHC glitch aside, he has fantastic hypers just to DHC out of and he offers unique assists to teams that can exploit the utility like C. Viper and She-Hulk.

Spencer is really fun.

WESKER but ass hyper over average damage if you can combo off annoying ass gun teleport had to drop wesker cuz everybody main or play him 2nd slot semi safe hyper dhc 3rd X-factor except playing against D.Phoenix 90-10 match up. time to Saturation the world no i don’t need a partner only lab dogs

Jill is worse that hsien ko?

Any tier list without Phoenix at #1 at this point is just plain silly. On AVERAGE, people who play against me use about 3 meters on snapbacks snapping her in and trying to kill her. A two meter deficit against my opponent to get Dark Phoenix? yes please.

So much so that the “playing w/o meter” handicap that she puts other characters is almost irrevelant.

Simply having her on the team makes a wolverine player rethink an Xfactor 1 use to kill two of your characters.

With DHC tricks popping up all over the place, any combo landed is death to any character. DHC tricks will usually only cost a net of one meter at most, whereas Phoenix can be killed with 1 meter at most. Her health is really only a penalty when dealing with chip damage and stray hits.

Summary: If your blocking/teching is on point with PHX, she is the best character in the game.

The problem with Zero and Wolverine as it is that they need to rush you. Zero can lame with sougennmu lasers and busters, but that costs meter. Both have a hard time dealing with Tron or something like hsien-ko.
By needing to be close, both characters don’t do as well against characters that have a potential to be easily lamed out, like Haggar, Tron, She-Hulk, Hulk, CapAm, etc etc.

Magneto or Wekser on the other hand? Can lame you the hell out against a scary character or an Xfactor activation rather easily. Ammy? can switch between rush/zone/lame at the change of a stance. Dante? More screen control than he knows what to do with.

These characters are plain better than Zero/Wolverine.

Does that mean zero/wolverine suck? No way. They’re just a step below the top 5.

Btw, X-23 is not that great. Everything she does except dirt nap, wolverine just does 10 times better. Every movement option she has requires a non blocking risk. She needs certain assists to land Weapon X prime. She has no ability to lame out dangerous characters like a she hulk/tron combo. She has a hard time dealing with basic Magneto disruptas unless she wants to guess blow a meter.

So whoever is saying X-23’s DLC trick is the best is smoking some crack. It’s obviously Storm. (Yes, above magneto). Yes magneto can end every combo with it, but Storms is a 7 or 8 frame full screen punish, too. I’ll take the ability to do 700-800k Storm/Wesker to punish any Dormmammu flame carpet please. And I think Storm/Zero or Storm/Dante can easily hit 1 million off a full screen Elemental Rage. Storm’s DHC trick makes her the scariest zoner in the game. Think of it as a little bit slower AHVB.

On another note, that guy who had Zero #1, spiderman above wesker, and taskmaster #21 has to be the craziest, most asinine shit I’ve seen in this thread. And that’s saying something. Has that guy watched a single top level stream in the past 3 months?

What’s this TAC trick you’re referring to?

:360: I sometimes wonder what they were thinking when Lei Lei was being designed.

Not like, “WTF were these morons thinking?!” but like, “What is this character supposed to accomplish and supposed to contribute?” She seems semi-rush with the pendulum and teleport dash, semi-camp with the gong and anki ho, semi-zone/punish with the great normals, but too slow to actually rush, projectiles that are too weak to win full screen fights, almost stifled mobility that can’t take advantage of her normals and unimpressive damage when she does land hits. Thankfully she has pretty cool hypers, but I was just wondering what her “endgame” design was meant to be as a character in this kind of game.

D.Phoenix is all about 50/50 with the right character bear in mind she rapes half the cast

Hsein ko is meant to enhance ground hyper for instance Hulk, Storm Hsein ko works VERY well with task check out airtola hsein ko

Her only point is armored senpu bu assist. On the bright side that is about as annoying as tron fire and haggars lariat.

on the subject of x-23, i think she’s honestly ok. she can start up dhc glitch easy, and shes pretty mobile. but her horrible health and no ability to deal with run away characters ( i.e: trish ) or ability to really deal with zoning ( you can with 1 hyper bar on a decent guess ) really hurts her. and she’s pretty heavy on execution which don’t bold well when you can choose other characters who require similar execution for higher payoff.

Hsien Ko isn’t the worst but she isn’t the best either. Still, she is good for what she is used for. Countering keep away and even countering rush down with her super armored assist. Those are good qualities.

Every character in the game should have just as many moves as him. Relatively speaking it’s hilarious for just Dante to have that many moves, but everyone else should have just as many themselves.

lol obviously capcom showed dante special attention since he’s like capcom’s most popular character within the last decade. i’m not surprised at all the love dante got.

dante is ok not OP he have 900k health 8 frame start normal and can die easily if you want to show off an drop you combo all he has going on for him is range and bullshit hitbox hitting from behind like chun li kicks. dante is good at all but not great at any.

Zero does not need to rush people down Renegade. His mobility on the ground and in the air paired with buster shot makes matches against Haggar, Tron, Shehulk, etc. easy. People just aren’t respecting the fact that when he’s on point he has no need to rush in. The fact that he can seamlessly transition from zoning into a combo when someone fails to block doesn’t hurt either. Wolverine however I agree with you on, aside from berzerker slash his ways of dealing with a zoning game are limited, and when you know someone’s way in it makes it easier to punish.

Current Renegade Power Rankings- Mostly based on point contributions, but factoring in assists and DHC abilities

A Tier
1. Phoenix- No floe, you can discount the reason you beat justin as "not the #1 character"
2. Magneto- I can’t block this guy for more than 5 seconds. Then he disruptas my Tron. So lame.
3. Wesker- Any where you put him, he’s the magic man.
4. Dante- Now can DHC trick off any combo easily, and can zone? Sheesh. Scary.
5. Ammy- with the importance of her hard sentinel counter lessened and without a one hit kill, she’s only super frightening now.

B+ Tier- The next best characters in the game

6. Zero- the biggest benefactor from DHC glitch mania.
7. Wolverine- 85 seconds left and you’ve lost two characters… sound familiar?
8. Storm- Versatility is her game
9. Trish- Got a DHC Trick! Whoo! Damage!
10.Taskmaster- Still housing teams, and a great DHC ender character.
**11. Dormammu- **Best hard counter to PHX there is. Just summon that power.
12. Sentinel- Don’t forget about that Robot. The good ones stuck with him are rewarded.
13. Shulk- I wake up in cold sweats from nightmares about the She Hulk vortex. Ghost Ride the Whip!

Mid Tier (i.e. these characters are still good!)
14. Doom- Usually shouts at Reed Richards from the 3rd slot.
**15. Akuma-**Mostly just see his assist for wolverine, is there more to him?
16. C.Viper- New tech coming for her everyday. Will DHC glitch hold her back?
17. Spider Man- Getting much trickier in a role as a pixie character. Stronger rush down than any below him.
18. Tron- Why do people still get hit by jump H? I’ll take it!
19. X-23- Yawn. I’m tired of argueing about this characters potential only to see her get bodied all the time.
20. Deadpool- Needs AHVBx 3.
21. Chun- Having some of the lowest damage output in the game isn’t great when can’t do DHC trick.
22. Spencer- Random Arms aren’t working, guys.
23. Felicia- She needs to be able to morph into Sasquatch.

Lower Mid Tier (solid, but uninspiring so far)
24. Shuma- Why did they have to put that pose in after hypers. Only useful one is chaos dimension. Assist rules.
25. Chris- Solid zoning. Dormammu’s better at the same game.
26. Morrigan- slow rushdown, meh damage. Meter assist is useful, but Ammy has one too.
**27. Iron Man- **Awkward rushdown, limited air zoning, great beam assist.
28. Jill- If you like to push buttons, just play Dante.
**29. Haggar- **Every time I get hit by this character, I either facepalm or roll my eyes. True story.
**30. Ryu- **Have beam will shoot.
31. Thor- In theatres now!
**32. Skrull- **Justin’s is a great example of high level skrull play. I.e. the first time a skrull got that far.
33. MODOK- big, slow target.
34. Hulk- bigger, slow target.

LOW TIER (Probably better off picking someone else)
35. Joe- got seriously nerfed from the gamecube version.
**36. Arthur- **would be better if he had a game genie.
37. CapAm- taking a break after killing Osama.
38. Hsien Ko- I would have armor and XF level 3 on against regular characters and still lose. Sucks so bad.

I think it’s funny that the majority of the rest of the roster didn’t get that much love in moves/options. There’s plenty to work with too, on both the Marvel and Capcom sides. Instead though you got some characters with moves that aren’t worth doing under almost every single circumstance, moves like tornado claw lol.
