MvC3 Actual Balance/Potential Tiers Discussion

Sent can’t make in the top 5. No way.

What do you call fantastic zoning? Spit spit? His command grab and grabs are good though, as is harddrive for avoiding a lot of BS. His damage output isn’t crazy also. It’s just very easy and braindead to do good damage with him. Drone assist is really good though, and that’s the main reason people have sent on their teams. That and random/intimidation factor from lvl 3 XF.

Too many bad match ups and situations he can’t deal with to be top 5.

I think he has a hard time mixing people up too… well, compared to Mags/Wesker/Dante/Pheonixc/etc at least.

Sent capitalizes on mistakes, whereas the others can force mistakes.

if Zero’s 80hit jumping H isnt enough of a hit confirm for you your reaction time is ass… seriously

@Basquit i think Sent will always be a candidate for top 5 once people stop doing herp derp stuff and bypass the day 1 sent stage people will start to see how scary he is…oh and drones

the same people who get hit by insert random character here’s jump S

The fact that my grandmother could hit instant overheads on him really hurts his viability against a large portion of the cast. The health nerf really hurts his usability as an assist and he also gets badly outzoned by a decent number of characters. Not top 5 material.

Jumping H ‘80hit’ scales like a biatch when you start with it, thus the S in the video.

Yes but others like storm can make their J.S an instant overhead, whereas zero cannot. It can cross up, but it is so slow that you would have to conceal it with an assist for it to land, which would kill that combo. This is why you see most zero players going for J.H, which works well, but as Chrisis said scales the combo a lot.

I’ll talk to my friend to try to get a video of zeros damage potential posted tonight, to my knowledge he came up with the combo so I don’t want to reveal anything yet, it’ll be with a shitty phone cam for now. I wasn’t wrong when I said he can kill any character without x-factor or a level 3

troll away. sorry there is no zero combo you speak of.

Screw the top 10, bottom 10 in the game:
Arthur
Cptn. America
Hulk
Hsien-Ko
Chris
Iron Man
Haggar
Viewtiful Joe
Thor
Super-Skrull

Chun, Morrigan, Deadpool and Ryu can make cases for this honor as well, but have some saving graces. Feels like certain characters can be argued, but I doubt many would argue these guys are anything but mid-tier at best without some new technology coming around.

Main thing in this game is your character can be absolutely atrocious and still be salvageable as an old-timey assist only char or with Drones / Arrows / Tatsu covering you. Similarly certain chars like Thor and Iron Man can actually be good, it’s just they have significant issues and usually better versions of them already exist in the game.

Arthur is probably the worst character in the game since the game / character design screws him and his tools outside of Gold Armor are bare bones. He has so little going for him against top tier chars because they can either get around his projectile spam and abuse his lack of mobility or blow him up from a distance anyway. Hsien-Ko and Haggar at least can be absurdly useful assists which negates some of the awfulness going on when they have to fight (and promptly get bodied). Most of the rest are either worse versions of existing chars or just haven’t shown very much in the way of potential or have low ceilings because of their character design. Hulk is a good example of just lacking good ways to approach, there’s just not much to do with him once people figure out your moves have armor and make sure to cover the ground so he can’t get to you quickly. Once he’s zoned out there’s only one approach he can take without a pure guess and most characters will then wipe you out.

Thing about low tier in this game is it usually just means you’re dead against a top tier char if you don’t have an assist alive to help. Otherwise with a good assist pretty much everyone can mount some sort of an offense and the damage is so ridiculously high in this game you can just get people if you ever land a clean hit. Hell that’s one of the big things everyone claims when they talk about their character not being low tier, ‘hits like a truck’. 95% of the chars in the game do with enough meter and 100% do with X-Factor.

The DHC glitch has mutated the damage equation anyway, you either need a very good no-meter combo or to be like Mags in terms or meter built and damage to really claim that as a selling point.

I do, I hate the matchup but Phoenix generally win pretty hard if she is half smart. The barriers can fuck up her projectiles, but Phoenix can still run all day long. The general probelm is that MODOK has to get Phoenix doing a mistake. He has to abuse doing jamming bomb snapback combos to messup her team. Phoenix isn’t really going to make many mistakes more than he will. He doesn’t have a chip happy super like Ryu or Dorm. He doesn’t have full screen attack like Dormmie’s 0C3D so Phoenix must completely rethink her apporach. The only difference is that MODOK’s barrier prevent her typical TK shot mixups. Also that he can try to grab Phoenix in a XFC when blocking a string. While that he can’t chip like as happy as Dorm, or Ryu he could save the 9 cubes +X-Factor to doing some damaging chip. The probelm he has to save all of those LOUs for Phoenix for one moment.

claps

He didn’t come up with the combo but here is a version of it (not performed by him)

Now instead of using assists to OTG you can actually end with lvl 3 buster into lightning dive land sougenmu (you can charge your buster during sougenmu) jump level 3 buster into more sets, with 5 bars you can get 7 sets because you gain around half a bar from level 3 buster lightning dive. However the most times you will need to repeat the set is 2 because after the level 3 on the third going into rikoha will kill assuming you did any kind of combo going into the loops, otherwise you can just do 3 reps. Also keep in mind Zero can go corner to corner or go under and back to the corner you were in with 1 assist. You can generate around 1.5 bars going into lightning dives and around .5 after, if you have any sliver of meter you can kill just about any character from just over zero bars and every character for sure with just over one. You can start this off any combo either the way it is shown in the video or ground combo into jump bbc…b .land. jump bbc. bb level 3 buster lightning dive.

Zero is not supposed to be your anchor

That combo video is just that, a combo video it does not show the most ideal combos

X-23 is that high because she is the best starter of the DHC glitch except Magneto, has good normals, mixups, and speed

Wolverine is the easiest rushdown character I’ve ever played, he will drop off when people realize everything he does is unsafe and he requires you to be on the ground to effectively mix you up, he’s still good though, but when the mission mode is giving you one of his better combos that says a lot

Taskmaster really isn’t good for all the reasons I elaborated on previously

I’ve actually seen people attempt that but never finish it, good shit.

There is NO WAY super skrull is bottom 10

Wolverine vs Zero
Wolvie has Speed, really easy execution, the games soulless terminator, can have some difficulty against zoners at full screen but mid-screen or closer he kills basically everyone in the cast with his great normals and Breszerker slash\charge safe mixup and pressure.
Little Bit Meter Hungry at times to stay safe… but he builds meter as well as anyone in the cast

Zero has Priority, so much of it is sickening. the best DHC (trick glitch) ender. Pressure is about as threatining as wolverines mid-screen or closer but I’d still take Wolverine most of the time. Has more options at 3/4-full screen than wolvie (Zero Buster is awesome) to make up for his slower speed. His advanced combos are… frightening to say the least.

Both are really good, just depends on your team makeup and what you like from a character TBH.

Zero does more damage than wolverine (as shown in my above post) and is much safer in everything he does, but wolverine is the easier so there’s that, I think Zero is better for those reasons but your assessment is fair.

Yeah people do too much ground based blocking which is part of the reason Wolverine is blowing it up real nice. People standing or crouching on the ground hoping he does anything other than left right slash. Gotta keep moving and keep him out of that element.

taskmaster is every bit was good as high tier. watch videos of gengis. I know he arrow spams alot but he forced a ton of characters to approach and he has great combos that do a ton of damage and a ton of health. give him drones or Akuma assist backing him up and he wrecks. I think he is the cable of this game. he will always be a top 10 character.

This. Skrull is the reset king, great damage output. Great DHC options, has a good teleport, arguably the best command grabs in the game, can self OTG, is surprisingly mobile, and when you pair him up with an assist like Tron Fire or Drones everything he does becomes safe. I don’t care what people think, but once people find more Skrull technology, they will see he’s one of the sleep candidates.

Top 5 from Tourneys Ive seen…
Phoenix
Taskmaster
Sentinel
Magneto
Doom ( usually as an assist )

Argue with me…
