imo snapping her in forever has it’s downsides. it happened to me often and i’ve seen it a bunch of times on stream that people are left without any meter against a lvl3 dark phoenix. but like you said, when people lern to block her BS more consistently she will run out her xf and then she faces a team of 3 characters with only 420 life left.
Phoenix… not top 5 (dark phoenix #1) but Phoenix is 6-10 for me, Maybe you guys need to block more, or block correctly.
Pre-transformation: whats the best she can do? throw fireballs? BLOCK! Teleport? BAIT THAT SHIT! if a normal phx teleports in on me, the first thing I do is try and grab that whore, SHE ISNT SAFE! and its not like Normal phx can use meter or XF, that would be irresponsible and counter productive.
Post transformation: OK NOW we got the best character in the game and the strategy changes up, Got Wesker or Tasky on your team? YOUR IN LUCK! since her normals throw projectiles, wait for teleport and counter that shit. Dont have those two? Have a character with an invincible lvl3 startup? YOUR IN LUCK! get caught in a close range block string, It will happen, XF > Lvl3 (I use doom, shits so cash) dont have any of those? Time to learn how to block, and position yourself well, its gonna be a long day. Personally I put myself in the corner against her for the sole purpose of her not being able to cross me up. IF YOU WANNA GET RISKY, get an assist that cant get crossed up (tron gets mixed up VERY easily, i wouldnt) Doom rocks, Lariet, something to discourage phoenix rushing your ass down, just make sure she doesnt have enough for BURN IN THE FLAME.
What it all comes down to is playing smart, there will be an opening, she isnt 100% safe. the feathers may be intimidating but remember, they are LOW priority projectiles and can be beaten out fairly easily.
The problem isn’t even Phoenix, it’s the SHITTY netcode, and 0 players in Europe (where i live), when everybody plays SSF4 or BlazSHITblue. Consider yourself lucky if you live in the US, because even in the UK MVC 3 is quite dead.
Just look for example at Stun Fest finale, Tokido vs Alioune. Both would be considered average in the US scene considering how many people there play MVC 3.
@sidearm
i agree for the most part, but which phoenix player does teleports that are not covered bei fireballs? i personally don’t play phoenix players that do raw, unsafe teleports…
@executah
add me on xbl, i’m in germany. i have some people from UK in my FL and to many of them the connection is good (as far as mvc3 netcode can be good… ^^). maybe we’re lucky and can get some matches in.
just keep spamming that gay dive kick > whole game
he’s an annoying fgt to deal with it. almost as gay as xmenVsf wolverine.
BB > MVC Fact.
as far as the net code… Who plays online?
@dontknow, Doesnt change anything, if you grab on reaction her fireball wont hit you b/c the grab animation
lol ^^
BB > mvc3 definetely not a fact, just personal taste! i played BB since CT and got bored, i like mvc3 more, and unless you’re some random arcsys fanboy, you will agree that it’s not a fact.
people play online, when they have no or not much offline competition. how stupid of a question is this?
phoenix: it does change a thing, because if the fireball hit’s slightly before the teleport recovered -> you’re fucked. seriously, if just grabbing her out of her teleports was as easy as you say, poeple won’t struggle like hell in this matchup. against a phoenix player that knows what he does, a throw attempt is nothing more than a gamble.
blaz blue is aight. definitely not as fun as mvc3 imo though.
agree to disagree, I just dont like Comeback factor lvl 3 in my fighting games lol
Phx: I didnt say it was easy, your reaction has to be near instant. In THAT specific situation, grabbing might not work but you CAN pushblock the fireball to reset her pressure. Honestly IDK what chars you use but the only way to REALLY learn how to shut her BS down is to learn how to do it, go to training mode, record a dummy and learn the blockstring. Your options vary from char to char and there isnt always a simple answer to her (Doom for instance has those lasers that shoot in all directions, rocks, and hidden missiles) Shit, some characters have an easier time gettin normal phx in a combo, drop it before it kills her then RUN from her than dealing with DPHX
In the end (like I said) play smart. Phoenix players cant use 2 chars to their full potential until they get 5 meter, use this to your advantage.
nah wolvy has never been this scrubby before, even in xmvsf.
Lol. MvSF wolverine would like to have a word with you.
Jump spam medium/fierce for meter, speed up super, infinite with C.HP. GG.
lol your all looking into this a little to much I picked my team simply because of trial and error not because people tell me whos the best which is why I refuse to use popular characters like zero, sent, phx and dante and no1 ever complains that i’m cheap or a scrub online
i’ll reveal the top 12
magneto-easy to use and simple 800k+ combos
D.phoenix -Damage
Dante - many tools= combos (yet I only see one combo used online -_-)+ jam session
amaterasu -I hate that damn 6 hit combo you cant stop it,small hurtbox great hypers, attack ability also small size allows her to drop out of combos
wesker - no explanation damage, counters and deadly teleports
zero -BS moves atks faster then anyone
trish - traps
wolverine -scrubby dive kick
sentinal-only effective with that crappy xfactor BS and assist spam - NO skill needed otherwise no threat!
Cviper - low defense makes me drop her if caught in a long combo shes in trouble but amazing hypers requires skill decent damage,o did I forget unblockable move
Skullmaster- easy to use scrubby combo into hyper
*chris - Damage is beastly but hard to use/Dr doom same spot
Is there any good technology against Wolverine?
When sentinel was the first ‘Overpowered’ character, everyone went into the lab and now we can all agree he isnt a problem at all anymore. But I dont see this kind of thing developing with Wolvie.
I personally dont have too much trouble with him as long as I have all the tools to zone him.Taskmaster and doom plasma beam assist work well to keep him out.Once one those two goes though, I am free to wolverine.
Viper + Task destroys wolverine, characters that have an option to punish Berzerker slash regardless of what side it comes out on are golden. You can’t react block that and forcing him to use its invincibility as the only way in makes Wolverine’s game much harder for him to play, along with the fact that 950 life is 1 combo to kill territory I honestly feel a lot of teams with solid space control options destroy him.
What’s the best anti phoenix, phoenix team? lol I’d say Magneto/Ammy/phoenix. Mag and ammy both build lots of meter and do decent damage without meter and both have good hypers for dealing with phoenix just in case… I left Dorm out because he’s such a meter hog. Anybody got ideas for better anti-phoenix, phoenix teams?
With tasky, besides zoning, counter that fucking divekick its not like trish’s which can be canceled into a projectile super so when they commit to a dive kick they’re stuck. standing M is pretty good too, outranges most of wolvies normals and instantly goes into BnB
I had no idea there was a character in MvC3 named Skullmaster.
Welp…now you know.
Most of why Wolvie is better than X23 ATM has to do with having better health for pretty much better reward minus X23’s ability to set up DHC glitch. The only reason I’m even using X23 ATM is simply just to learn her and use her current ability to kill in one combo. When that goes away for the most part Wolvie will just be back to being completely cheesier and easier to use. Well…until people figure out that Dirt Nap is the cheapest level 3 in the game by far. I’ve been coming up with setups for Dirt Nap where you pretty much can’t escape by just running into you and pressing s.M, s.H as a string. As long as I get the person to block the s.H the Dirt Nap will grab you up then can OTG into death combo. I can do it with just s.M but you can mash invincible super out of the s.M alone. Running up to you and pressing c.H yields the same inescapable set up. X23 should not be on the screen without meter for dirt nap so eventually you’ll see a lot of X23 in the second spot.
Lol at people saying Phoenix isn’t #1.
Stay free.
Wolverine basically comes down to “can you shut down his dive kick” and “can you deal with beserker slash?”
That’s pretty much it. aside from those, stuff like basic keepaway and tron would work.
Devil Trigger.
623S is fully invincible and he can just spam it till her XF runs out. If it hits her even once she’s dead.
236S zones her pretty well too, but 623S is all he needs.
