Great analysis, I wish more of the community would talk about him. I think if a player like Combofiend or Marn played Skrull on their main team, more people would emulate their style, and more Skrull technology would come about (similar to what is happening with She-Hulk. Skrull is a hard hitter, with decent health and decent speed. His command grabs have insane range even if you don’t kara cancel them, I really think he has a lot going on with him.
Yeah he’s a character you can’t just left right special move or turn on fly mode and press on S with. Those characters usually take a while to develop and see what happens overall. There’s definitely some issues with how everything he has on whiff is completely open to punishment but that’s mainly because those tools when landed lead to big damage and cover a lot of areas of the screen.
I think Skrull is mid tier at most, everything he has is unsafe if it doesn’t hit.

Combofiend plays a good Skrull. I wish more pros spent more time playing him, I’m probably being biased because I play him, but, I honestly think he has a lot going on. He has so much fucking reset potential, and with the proper assists (Tron Fire, Drones, Lariat, maybe more?) a lot of the stuff he does becomes pretty safe. Skrull Torch (along with Inferno) come out really fast, have good DHC potential. His command grabs have range that is simply uncanny, and he’s got a lot of other cool tricks that Skrull players possibly don’t utilize enough, like Rolling Hook and Stone Smite. How can people build a team around him?
I guess what I’m wondering, because other than Smash Bros I’ve never followed a (traditional) fighting metagame for a long period of time, has Skrull really hit the ceiling?

Tron Fire is by far the dumbest thing in the game. anti rushdown, invincible, fast, a shitload of health even if you get lucky hitting her. That shit pisses me off far more than Dark Phoenix tbh. With DP you need a certain chain of events to go down to even achieve her. Tron will dictate the entire match. She really makes the game seem braindead honestly. There is no downside to using that assist accept you might have to play her on point. And to that she isn’t even CapCom easy to deal with smh…

People have slowly been figuring out more ways to deal with Tron assist. Characters with super armor like Hulk and Sentinel give it a hard time because they can plow through it and land a clean hit or trade and force it to take big damage. Characters with strong dive kick/cross up games like Wolvie/X23/Zero/Wesker can blow it up by getting around to the back of it if it wasn’t used in a tight block string.
In general though the assist is a bit easy to use for the profit you can get off of it and knowing Capcom it most likely will get toned down in some way. We’ll see. The only thing Haggar assist has over it is that Haggar assist hits people crossing up. Otherwise Tron’s IMO is basically better. Crazy fast recovery, only a couple vulnerable boxes where it can be actually hit with physical attacks that dont have armor/extended/invincible hit boxes, leads to pretty much the same shit as Haggar assist but safer on whiff, doesn’t lose life unless physically hit unlike Haggar etc.
Within the nature of this game yeah her assist is insane. I don’t see why your getting so angsty honestly. And if the game is so braindead I wanna see you at top 32 at evo. seriously if games are so simple nowadays then there should be an influx of new people taking top spots.
My sparring partner plays shulk/wolv/tron. It would be suicide to play hulk or sent against that team. Someone who is actually good at the game is not going to throw it out willy nilly, its certain places on the screen where if tron is called there is not shit you can do. I think the counter is just to zone the fuck out a team using it since is almost nullifies your rushdown.
You get rid of the glitch and Mags is #1 no question. Then Dante. Wesker drops a bit. Still top though. Viper shoots up to third imo. Those 3 chars can kill you in one combo DHC glitch or no. Dante can just combo into DT then keep going haha pew pew million dollars IN UR FACE IN UR FACE ur dead. Mags is gonna GRABITY SQEEGHZHE and THEN combo you off of it. Fun stuff.

Yeah your absolute safest option is to go in after she uses it for that short time frame where you can safely go in and then once she is recovered you’re most likely going to have to sit back and wait for it. Unless you have a character that can get around the hit box easily or a strong projectile based character that can stay out for a bit and force chip and at least force them to get in and use the assist at a closer range.
The issue with She Hulk of course is that unless you’re playing like Dorm, Doom, Magneto you’re not going to get a favorable position in the match by zoning out She Hulk. She Hulk can close the gap too quickly with a strong assist against a team that has a point character out there like Wolverine or X23 that can’t just put a ton of projectile shit on the screen to build meter. The only way those characters are going to land damage or build meter is by getting solid hits in and preferably have some type or projectile or other long range coverage assist to help them get in and do it. I haven’t really seen any character specifically be good at zoning out She Hulk and being able to convert into big enough damage to calm her down other than types like Wesker/Mags/Zero/Doom/Dorm etc. If you’re not playing one of those types with some type of threatning projectile that can lead to a knockdown or damage it can get really tough to not let She Hulk close the gap on you with the assist covering. Which once she gets in with the assist ready to use you can pretty much forget being able to press any buttons without getting in trouble. Which at that point you’re extremely susceptible to her mix up.

How are we supposed to say Mags and Dante are high-tier? It isn’t like they are labeled as such. How is anybody supposed to know who a high-tier character is in this game? Is there a stamp put on each character that says, I am high-tier as fuck.
I get that pretty much every character with a bunch of meter or X-Factor available becomes a one-touch kill character. But, you can’t deny that there are certain characters who have a lower damage-ceiling than others in suboptimal conditions. Felicia isn’t going to blow up anyone with no X-Factor and one or two bars of available meter. Neither is Joe. Or Deadpool. Or X-23. Or Morrigan. Even Mutt, who just about everyone agrees is a top-five canine, is not a one-touch character (outside of optimal conditions) by any means.
I think the reason why you see guys like Magneto and Dante firmly in the top five is that these characters can do massive damage in one combo, and perhaps build more meter than anyone else in a single combo, often leading to a squeezed/chopped up character.
My problem with the DHC glitch is that it gives certain characters way too much damage for too little execution. I also think it’s crazy that two measly bars, without X-Factor, can net well over one-million points of damage. Magneto and Dante usually have to pop their Level 3 Hypers to one-touch a character, and it requires a lot of execution. When I say that characters are “dumbed-down” with the DHC glitch, I feel that those characters are given access to massive damage for a much smaller amount of required execution.
Wolverine? Sentinel? Wesker? These are characters with very low execution ceilings, yet their low-execution combos have big payoff. They are designed to be pretty fucking far from fancy at all times.
Do I really need to explain what “something fancy” is? I’m talking using a given character with the intention of approaching that characters ceiling by fully exploring and understanding a given characters capabilities. My problem is that the DHC glitch allows players to take a character and do big damage, without giving two shits about approaching that characters ceiling, because approaching such a ceiling becomes unnecessary with the DHC glitch.
Basically, I think it turns characters like X-23 into Wolverine.
you can’t make a statement like this and not elaborate. What does storm have to shut down she hulk game. I can think whirlwind since it pushes her out, but that seems like more of a pacifier since shulk does have 1.1 mil and its going to take a long of that to kill her.
with the right teammate you can snatch SHulk up in a E.Rage as she comes lumbering in and DHC reset her to death.
You can see her coming from a mile away IMO.
I feel like a good old neutral jump takes her out most times. shes always running in leaving herself open from above.
