Bionic Arm?
Good mobility?
Lots of health?
Hits hard?
Command grab into combos?

I seriously do not understand the hate for the DHC trick. It’s just another way to do big damage. It doesn’t kill all 3 characters in one shot. It’s still quite a situational thing. AND you still need to execute. It’s not like you just press one button and then somebody dies and you lose two meters .
No. DHC Glitch should be removed for everyone period. Once that happens, and if the game becomes obvious that Pringles is beating everyone down without issue I’m pretty sure they’ll modify the game accordingly. They already smacked Mango with the Nerf bat.
Well the thing is that the mid-tier characters are going to stay mid even if they remove the DHC glitch from the top tier characters. Even then, how would you go about distributing who gets to start and who gets to end? If you don’t assign it properly, than those that get to start will pass the ball to other mid characters that get one gimmick when they hit you and then suck balls the rest of the match. Your suggestion has a lot of problems; but mostly the fact that the top tier characters are top regardless of any involvement with the DHC glitch.
The DHC Trick is fine. If you play a team like Tatsu/Remix then you deserve to be rewarded for it, if you play a team like NerdJosh/Combofiend you deserve to be rewarded for it.
people seriously hate the DHC glitch? Hell I don’t have a problem with it and there is no way possible to do it on my team. Just another way to get big damage. Always surprises me how people just can’t deal with certain things in this game.
Mainly because Super Skrull is a character purposely designed to be gimmicky. He doesn’t have solid pressure he can just run like Magneto or Wolverine. He can’t lock you down or do anything that’s reminiscent of a top tier of other Marvel fighting games or fighting games in general. He’s reliant on having solid assists backing him up so he is able to do stuff from a lot of different angles and force you to have to fear him no matter where he is on screen which is pretty significant. The issue is because of his play style he always has to be thinking one step over the opponent and that’s not really conducive to a high or top tier character. He has good damage output but so do most other characters. Super Skrull being high tier pretty much relies on if his gimmicks are powerful enough to make him become a real force in tournaments with his ability to start an offensive from basically anywhere on the screen. With how much you have to be thinking over your opponent to get it to work though I dont really see it unless there’s some gdly way to set up assists with him or something.
He’s another character like She Hulk that’s reliant on assists to turn him from gimmicky to somewhat solid but I don’t see him becoming more solid with assists than She Hulk either. Just the fact that She Hulk somehow seems like a less risky character to use without assists than him doesn’t really bode well for him being high tier quite yet.
I’m not a fan of the DHC glitch. It turns characters who have no business being one-touch kill characters into one-touch kill characters. For example, why does X-23 need a DHC glitch? She has very good normals, lots of mix-up/cross-up potential, normals that can be canceled for serious frame advantage, an absurdly good level 3,etc.
I think the DHC glitch dumbs down a lot of characters, and I think it dumbs down X-23 a great deal. You never see anyone doing anything fancy with her, because it’s just some simple combo stuff and then a character is dead.
Shit like the DHC glitch and LVL 3 X-Fact almost make MvC3 a party-fighter. I’d like to see those issues addressed, but who knows if it’ll ever happen.
Even without DHC glitch it’s hard to be fancy in a game where one combo will kill your X23 easily even after the DHC glitch. When the DHC glitch goes away most people will likely put her in the second position where she can lock a next character coming in with an assist after one dies, turn on XF level 2 and kill them instantly and then go on trying a mix up to instant kill the 3rd one coming in.
DHC glitch will obviously get addressed eventually. Maybe because of the scope of the glitch it may not be fixed till Super MVC3 but it will get fixed eventually. No need to worry about it right now because not everyone that’s winning tournaments is even utilizing it. Good players with good teams are winning tournaments more so than the glitch is. Level 3 XF is by FAR the worst BS about this game other than the lazy 50/50 mix ups with some character’s special moves. The game in general is a bit too high in damage for a 3 on 3 character game but that I dont think that can really be helped without the game revolving around time outs very often.
The game in general is about landing a hit first so whether or not DHC glitch stays IMO really doesn’t do much to change what people need to learn to do in this game. Which is basically learn to space themselves and block the options of their opponent while managing a way to get in and land their damage first. It’s not like SFIV where if you get comboed and dont die there’s still plenty of room and reads to go about. If you got hit and you’re not dead in this game you most likely will be soon because of the ability to easily get reset into some BS mix up and die afterwards. People who are worried about dying in one touch now should really start practicing not getting hit now while the DHC glitch forces you to. When it goes away you’re not going to be able to compete very often in this game if you think you’re going to be able to get hit in general and not be in a shit ton of trouble.
You don’t get to DP or backdash your way out of shit in this game after you get comboed with something that drains almost all of your character’s life away. You basically get once chance to roll and block the right way, pray you teched a 1 frame air grab or predicted an attack instead or your character likely dies then any way. The way the recovery system works in this game it basically forces you into a hugely disadvantageous situation after every combo. Most other air dash/combo based fighting games have a better recovery system for getting away from pressure after a full combo. In this game you have only very bare bones options for not taking damage again after a combo or throw.
**Long story short if you dont like getting hit and dying in this game you better make sure you hit them first because that’s what the game will always be about. ** If the first round of Marvel 2 matches which some people agree was a more solid game competitively had matches where mother fuckers get their entire team beasted in the first match without landing one attack…you can only imagine what a game where the damage is higher and there’s less need to reset to kill people is going to be like. The only difference being that X Factor makes it so the exact same thing can happen the other way around right before the last characters dies. LOL.
How in the fuck is anybody supposed to know who a one touch kill character is in this game? Is there a stamp put on each character that says intented to be used for one touch kill only?
WHAT? How does it “dumb down” X-23? People choose to dumb down their own character. All the DHC trick is, is an add on to a combo. That’s IT. You choose how to open your opponent up, and the DHC trick caps it off.
This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:
Also, it’s not like X-23 (since you’re using that example) can do it on call. Unless she’s fighting a big character, she can’t even combo into Sarah-X by herself.
And ANOTHER thing… it’s not like Wolverine and Sentinel and Wesker have been “doing anything fancy” with them. It’s the same old damn combos from day one.
And ANOTHER THING… what the heck is “something fancy” supposed to mean anyway?
So all “badness” aside, is iron man actually a viable character? I’m looking at the ranked leaderboards for xbl and some of the top players use him a lot.
The funny thing is that X23 is designed to be a one touch kill character. They didn’t give her that level 3 so you can put her in the front and be cute. Not that it isn’t viable but with a level 3 like that you know the few people that aren’t running her for the XF + level 3 kill incoming character factor will be soon.
I dunno about you guys, but I think the team that Justin showcased at PowerUp (Phoenix, Skrull, Dormammu) is REALLY powerful. I’ve been testing the team online, and here’s some things I noticed:
Dormammu can use tenderizer assist to lock a character coming in as he builds power of the destroyer
Has two teleport characters on it. Three if you count Skrull (meteor smash! inferrrrrnooooooo)
All of the characters have powers of fire, so you can light people up.
You can hold Assist 1 or Assist 2 at the start of the match so that Phoenix doesn’t come out on point
No. But I don’t have the balls to a) run Phoenix on point (yet) and b) run a meter whore like Dormammu with a spoiled brat like Phoenix.
This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:
However, seeing a Phoenix with a Dormammu is NOT unprecedented as FChamp was running a Dorm/Doom/Phoenix team a few weeks back. Apparently he runs Dorm with Jean because if Jean gets snapped in and dies early (which is a big possibility), his team won’t be handicapped because Dorm is a great anchor.
It kinda adds into some additional thoughts for building Phoenix teams. The most prevailing thought is to just build around Jean and nerf your other two characters to make sure DPh hits the field and have one of the meter assists. But other thoughts have been floating around like…
Two tanks + Phoenix (Like the team I run with Wesker and Thor. They stay in and take a lot of damage, thus building meter)
Two characters with great synergy + Phoenix (Magneto with Sent drones + Phoenix)
DHC trick starter/Phoenix/great anchor (DHC Trick into Jean, kill the character, then swap Jean out and change your lineup order)
People are also trying to run Jean on point becuase she’s such a great offensive character and there’s the thought that it’s better to run her on point and control how she fights as opposed to getting snapped in and immediately being at a disadvantage.
