This rumor needs to die. I’ve heard from multiple people who would know that they’re using the Dreamcast code.
Plus they actually published the conversation between Capcom-JPN and Capcom-USA on this subject - you can look that up on Capcom-Unity.
The switch trick is only disabled online, both because that’s how the Dreamcast works and also, IIRC, because of sync reasons(?). It works fine offline.
It’s entirely possible and highly likely that any weird behavior being seen is simply an artifact of running the Dreamcast code on anything other than the Dreamcast.
the xbox/ps2 changes could have been intentional. If the switch-death thing was a glitch in those versions I would hope they would be the first ones tested on the XBL version. So either they failed to check the obvious glitches that were found years ago in past versions, or they just used the xbox version.
It’s all theory talk though. Bottom line is we were played :lame:
Someone mentioned this once in the old thread, but I don’t think the Assist 1 button is working all the time. I thought I was just timing it wrong online or something, but I went to the Training Mode, and after sending out Assist 1 several times it’ll stop for ten seconds or so. I’ll be standing still, hitting the A1 like a madman, and yet the assist won’t come out for some random amount of time. I thought my trigger was broken at first but I set the assist to X and it still had the same problem. Assist 2 is working fine btw.
i’ve heard the same here from close friends(mods)… but who is to say really if backbone cut corners or not? this is one of the reasons we compare all viable ports correct? plus all the similar probs/glitches… ya know what i mean tho right zach?
and also thru your posts and research (along with others) i know its disabled online cuz of how the dc works and that it works offline… but my question was does it work on the ps2 and xbox version? i didnt care to own either so i placed my question about it… so again… does it work on ps2 or xbox?
Description: Once selecting a game mode, the moving loading page appears with a number of scrollable options below but nothing else. The game then fails to move on and the only way to leave is to press the Xbox central button.
This happens every time I’ve tried it.
I’ve had a search around this site and the web and I’ve seen others post about the problem but no one post with a solution. Any feedback on how to get round this would be great.
This has happened to me as well. I played for about an hour on a TE stick right out of the box for the first time, and a few time it just voted no on assisting.
Also the rankings are gay. I lost to someone in the top 20 and dropped 16 ranks, then beat them when we ran it back and gained 1 = /. That’d make sense if I was the higher person, but they had at least 40 ranks on me.
^^^ That’s very interesting, I was the one who originally reported that problem, but I later decided that it was a controller issue. My housemate confirmed that the controller I was using (which is his) had ‘sticky’ Left Trigger and/or Bumper. I’ve yet to have that problem again since switching to a new controller.
To elaborate on my experience with the A1 irregularities-- initially I experienced a phenomenon where A1 would trigger itself on loop, being registered about once every 3-4 seconds, which would result in a continuous stream of A1 assists throughout the match. This also led to me selecting random characters when it would occur at the select screen. Both of these I thought was the result of a glitch, but in hindsight looks most likely to be a controller issue.
HOWEVER, the fact that multiple people-- at least 3-4 at this point-- have posted up with the issue of A1 not registering at all could point to another issue besides the controllers.
So I’d say, if you use a controller, switch to another for a few sessions and see waht happens. If on stick, check your connections and see if this persists.
As an aside, I find it borderline hilarious that even the Character Select Screen and Ranking System are mad random. IZ MAHVEL BAYBEE
Lol sounds like there’s no way to make next-gen marvel tournament-worthy. Well, unless the organizer would like to be evil and not ban anything/must play through all glitches. Like if you wanted to pick magneto, but the computer gave you iceman- then you’re stuck with bobby lol.
I would appreciate if someone could post up a video of the rumored(?) alpha counter glitch - that would show the precise sequence involved and potentially help Capcom.
On the Jin issue (http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost.php?p=7191410&postcount=71), how is it supposed to work? Sorry, I’m not familiar with Jin all that much. When I combo lp to mp and follow that up with a Jin Tornado, the Tornado doesn’t combo on the DC or the 360. Can someone enlighten me?
i have no idea what happened tonight, but i went to do a local match, and i finally was able to get it done. now i had been drinking, but my friend had not, and i swear we couldnt get a local match to start without creating another random profile, and it was that way last time also.
so we’re playing, and like 10+ matches in, he is like, how do you switch out, so i tell him, and he cant. so i grab the controller and try, and i cannot switch out. so i go back to the menu, to training, and i still cant switch out. i literally have to go back to the dashboard and go back in the game to get it to work finally. i have to test specifics tomorrow, but i have no idea why he couldnt tag out. his buttons were set properly on default on a wired controller, and it would not let him switch out. it was the randomest shit ever.
i will test it more to post it later, because it was thoroughly not a mishap on our end.

steps to reproduce the problem (if known)
When you’re waiting for a player to actually start the match, if you pull up the leave match screen it can glitch out and remain up when the game goes to character select (video )
description of what exactly is wrong / what should have happened
This screen should disappear when you leave the menu.
Sometimes when you play a certain player for a second time during a player match, one of you gets disconnected.
But if you don’t change your characters, and keep using the same ones, everything is fine.
With some people (like me and a good friend of mine), as soon as either of you switches characters, when you start the game the screen goes white for a good amount of time and right before the game starts, someone gets disconnected.
i just played my first ranked match on psn. two weird bugs happpened:
i wasn’t able to call out my assist after i did it a few times in a match. turns out the game glitched out and left the 1p assist marker on screen after the assist left, so it wasn’t letting me call one because it thought there was still an assist on screen
after the match ended, it froze after cable opened up his arm. not sure if this is what happens when opponents ragequit on psn or what
when i downloaded the full game, it asked me to download the full game unlock (6kb) and the demo (200mb). if you have the demo it’ll prolly only ask you to download the unlock and you should be good to go. try restarting your ps3.
