MvC2 Xbox 360/PS3 bug database & reporting thread

Any info really.

I’m assuming as a ground for the patch that they will fix what need be with freezing/cheating issues, but is there any info on improving gameplay?

ie:

will playstation be able to view other peoples avatars in lobbies (or is it just me who can’t see them?)
Blind character select?
RQ percentage?
New game modes? (somethin like SF4’s CE?)
Reset leaderboards?
Better rating system

I’m not expecting all/any of these. I’m just curious what they had in mind when patching. Fixing technical operating issues or improving gameplay as well.

That would probably be outside the bounds of any tightly delivered patch.

Do you mean in Ranked? That’s a Feature™.

A: No.
B: Don’t think so.
C: No.
D: Apparently yes for PS3, not sure for XBLA.
E: ? Not sure what that means.

Please note the above is all speculation based upon external commentary.

I don’t think they have added any changed gameplay elements, and would be disappointed if they had since there are other better things for them to focus upon at this point.

Thanks. I guess there’s nothing wrong with the rating system, more so the cheating. I jsut don’t know how the game actually works. I know that rating and rank change depends on who you play.

For instance, lets say i play PSN’s #1 who is a rage quitter. If he RQ’s on me, do i still get the rating benefits of beating the #1 player? or do I simply just get an unbiased win? I would think that it currently DOES NOT “remember” the rage quitter, so it can’t give you the points. If it does “remember” then that just pisses me off that they can’t reward that person a loss. I swear I’ve had some good players RQ on me and my rank would not change at all even if I’m on a huge win streak. Could be coincidence though. I guess none of that matters as long as they fix the cheating/RQ issues.

For avatars, I played on xbox once and in ranked or friendly in the lobby the persons avatar would show next to their name. On PSN it doesn’t show anywhere  So thats just an xbox feature?

I’m not expecting actual game play differences (as in during an actual match.) When I said game play, I was leaning towards pretty much any changes that isn’t a programming/operating failure (like freezing/glitches). I don’t expect any of these changes. Just a bit curious :razzy:

The current PSN rage quit situation sucks. XBLA rage quits are generally handled as cleanly as possible (they get a loss, you get the win). I believe that’s being fixed up more as possible for the PSN world. Otherwise, yeah, you probably would be better off on XBLA. PSN is kind of the home of scoreboard cheaters. =P And poor Dios.

Avatars only show next to people’s names on XBLA in Friendly (Player) matches. They do NOT show in Ranked. As regards PSN Friendly matches: I dunno. Capcom peeps might know.

Evidently, patch goes live this week(?):

awesome!

I know they mentioned they couldn’t do the 0 input lag fix…but does anyone know if it’s possible for them or if they are looking into doing this in another patch?

He didn’t mention anything about RQs and PSN :wtf:

I hope he just left that info out.

Me too.

I suspect you would get this exact answer:
“No, we’re not doing that.”

From what I’m aware, this game was REALLY not designed for online play, and that the old Japanese Dreamcast version was (is) pretty bad even when you were on a LAN equivalent.

My impression is that they felt that they needed the 1 frame delay to keep the game from being choppy/glitchy as hell.

LOL comments are gold from the scrubs for the patch

“But seriously though why don’t they just wipe out the whole AHVB together? People are still going to tiger knee which results in your team getting wiped out in a matter of seconds.”

what are they patching? sorry i looked through previous posts to find the answer but couldnt find one.

heres a glitch,

i played some guy named dk express. There no way someone can be that good online.

is it a bot? god?

Could they not have addressed Mag’s dLK recovering too fast?

Not that I don’t appreciate the effort but gonna be honest, patch list seems pretty weak to me.

  1. http://www.capcom-unity.com/jimmyrey/blog/2009/10/28/mvc2_patch_to_go_live_this_friday_1030unblockable_hyper_beam_goes_bye_bye all patch info

  2. its a God player, not a bot

Evidently not… more complex than could be addressed in the (small) patch…? =\

In comments he says that the RQ situation stays the same on PSN. So… sounds like it will remain sucky to play Ranked on PSN. =P

hahahahahahahah

omgad, this patch looks fucking terrible. Lets fix jins combo but not fix magneto’s d.lk crap or cyclops dwn+normals to give him his infinite back.

Did anyone read the AHVB section?

*** - Cable’s Hyper Viper Beam has been fixed so that it is blockable if you block during the flash. There were many reports that other moves had the same issue but they seemed to be incorrect. Note, this was a bug fix and not a design change.***

cable’s AHVB has bee fixed so that it is blockable if you block DURING the flash? but not after.

THEY DIDN’T FIX SHIT!

and these guys @ capcom unity are tards. There are other unblockables going on during online play.

Semantics. I’ll wait until the patch is out to test it myself before jumping to conclusions.

You need to be exact and specific. See the first post I have? THAT’S generally a workable bug report. “Other unblockables”? You need to translate that and everything else to what you expect to work how and how it deviates from the Dreamcast.

I’m pretty certain they tested each and every reported “unblockable” and verified side by side with the DC version that there was no change from the DC properties. If they did miss something, help them out by being specific.

These people are on your side. Help them help you to the best of their ability.

jin’s problem was annoying, but I still don’t see what the issue was with mags. it still combos, I have no problem romming to corner…

I’m sure they just worded wrong about the AHVB.

other things seem unblockable probably just because online play+set input lag.

The wording on that confuses me actually-- bc afaik it wasn’t a glitch related to the AHVB directly, but to the input lag settings that barred you from getting a block input registered in time.

Hopefully this was a fix that was applied universally to the Super Freeze and not just specific to the AHVB. People who play only tournament characters won’t see the difference, but the rest of the low tier frame kills wouldn’t be affected unless its a universal fix. FWIW Morrigan’s beam/Jugg Headcrush/others are unblockable during/after the flash from 25% screen as far as I can tell.

i don’t know. they got magnetro to test it so you never know.

anyways, if your reaction is not fast enough to block while the screen is frozen at the flash, you deserve to get hit by it.
