Music Producers Thread v 3.0

Agh, I think I’ve actually done myself more harm than good experimenting with all these programs. I spent almost three hours last night just trying to decide how I wanted to go about starting a new track and another two hours of skimming over my sound library. My work flow has actually done like a complete reverse from when I was using strictly Reason.

That’s the trouble with program-hopping. You really shouldn’t bother most of the time unless there’s something specific you’re looking for in another program.

anyone mainly a sample based producer? if so, i just posted a rare “gem” on my site. (shameless plug) anyways, ill probably post one every week or so, so i hope you guys come back and check it out. i’m also planning on posting drum kits etc that will help producers out. the link is www.criticallysound.com and the most recent post has the sample. oh yeah, leave comments on the site if you can… much appreciated

Nice sample man, im already trying to talk to the people and get it cleared lmao.

Just made this.

‘Thinking of You’

Ur snare is off beat as fuck lmao. Good shit otherwise. I cant make a beat without samples worth shit. You got ur own LP i can check out???

I do more… BOOM BAP… type shit… like this
02 - Gotta Make It Hot produced by Hona.mp3 - 7.67MB
Its off my LP coming out March hopefully…

I have no idea what you are talking about :wgrin:

Nah lol, its one of the the hithats i think, not the snare.

No, but a couple of older tracks are there. I know nobody likes MS pages. Sorry in advance.

I’m 1/3 of a halfassed sort of 8-bit music project. If anyone is so inclined to listen here’s our page http://www.myspace.com/abagfullofpuppies . I handle the arrangements regarding drums and synths mostly.

I have an interview this weekend @ morelli productions in tampa like everyone else they use protools and I was brought up on cubase sx3. Is there any similarities that you guys have noticed, those who use both or went from one to the other.

Everyone thinks they are 8-bit these days. Its fucking annoying.

BTW, heres a mashup I’m working on. Let me know what you think. There are multiple versions, up. Make sure to get the latest version.

Can someone give me a couple links on gear that would qualify as minimalist when it comes to DJing?

I have a MacBook, other than some monitors and one of those mp3 control surfaces/turntable/mixers, I can’t think of what else I might need.

What software you using? Abelton?

-Fritz

Yeah, but I basically have and/or use pretty much all software though

I just want something compact that covers most of your basic functions

Something like:
http://www.numark.com/totalcontrol

Edit:
Anyone know if this thing is any good?

http://www.ionaudio.com/icue

Well gearslutz.com forums would probably be a better place to ask that question. It’s where I found out how to build most of my studio, and they’re very helpful.

-Fritz:tup:

you will need a sound card with multiple outputs. (so you can cue)

a laptop, headphones, speakers, and that it.

optionally you can get a midi controller to control the different parameters in your program.

I recieved an X-Session Pro for Christmas which helps control DJ software.

Most computer’s soundcard has only one out put button, for DJing though you’ll need two, one for cue another for the crowd. I had a huge problem with this until I read this in my manual.

Another track:

'Remember When

anyone know if the new version of flstudio supports dual core?

if it doesn’t i’m probobly switching to live.

I’m gonna miss fl studio if that’s the case, because i heart piano roll.

Im not entirely sure, dont take my word for it

Yeah, FL supports multicore pcs.
