Has there ever been a trailer where one moment in particular got you interested to see a movie? Hobo with a Shotgun was a movie that I never thought about considering, but it was this one exchange that got me intrigued:
Abby - You can’t solve all the world’s problems with a shotgun.
Hobo (Rutger Hauer) - It’s all I know . . . .
Most recently, it was hearing “I Got 5 on it” go dark in the trailer for Us.
It doesn’t even have anything to do with the movie, but I was 1000% on board the second I heard the first strings of that and realized what was happening.
last night i was watching logan’s run again, and i noticed peter ustinov as he passes by a cat he gently swipes at its tail to call its attention to himself, so all eyes, including the cat’s, are on him.
clever scene stealer.
making sure you the audience realizes that peter is best thesb.
and that all eyes should be on him constantly.
you the audience, the other actors. even the cat.
all eyes must be drawn into peter.
great actor
Awesome. The films where Leonardo portrays real life characters are always a treat. With Quentin Tarrantino at the helm, I can’t see any way it could disappoint.
It’s weird. I don’t know if this is spoiling it, but the ending and a reveal right before the end made NO sense to me. Maybe there’s something I’m just not catching, but right now I doubt it. Still, I’d give it a 7 or 8 out of 10, assuming you’re a horror fan. Get Out was much better in terms of being a coherent, understandable movie with a semi-logical reveal. Maybe I have to see Us again, but right now I feel like questions I have just lead to more questions.
As good but for different reasons. It makes you ask a bunch of questions that get out doesn’t. Had my brain spinning, makes you discuss theories with friends which is fun.
Hmm. That’s the thing. I’m not into symbolism at the cost of the base story.
With Get Out, there’s the mystery of “what the hell is going on”, an answer to that mystery that makes you say “HOLY SHIT everything makes sense now”, and an ending that’s great as well.
With Us, they got had me pulled in perhaps maybe more than Get Out, but didn’t stick the landing as far as the answer and the ending. That’s from a raw story perspective.
Despite this, I still like the movie somehow. If Get Out was a 10 to me, Us is an 8 at the highest. I plan to watch it again to see if I missed anything.
Yeah the explained at the end can make your brain try to rationalize the origin in 100 different directions. Also the symbolism throughout the movie feels like it may have been red herrings to throw you off as well.
