"Movie And A Show" Thread: Popcorn Optional

Well damn. Broke a personal record, went and saw Alita Battle Angel a 4th time. Normally, no matter how much i love a movie (Ex: Logan), 3 times is the max.

But Alita was so good! It’s one of those movies that, if an employee popped up to everyone in the theater and was like, “$75…and you can see the next one right now”. I’d have gone take a piss, bought a redbull, came back and paid that $75.

The thing is, there are plenty of great movies out there. Take Edge of Tomarrow for example, that was a 10 out 10 movie. As for as the characters go? I rooted for them sure but, didn’t truly CARE about them. Alita is a character i CARED about and FELT for her plight. And the pumped up way the movie ends with the sword like that, I always feel a little blue-balled when the credits pop up. I want to see what happens next so bad, to see more of that world, more of Alita and her revenge, etc.

A damn shame this movie isn’t getting more love at the Box office. When you know that shallow, assembly line garbage, like Captain Marvel, is going to make at LEAST 600 million no matter what. Not cool.

Edge of Tomorrow was one of the best movies that came out in 2014

I liked Alita a lot. The romance sub-plot was the only real negative.

Alita is good but it isn’t even remotely that good. 4 viewings just seems silly to me.

Then again, I saw black panther 6 times in theater and preordered it on iTunes after the first viewing. Along with watching probably 10 times or so since it released. So. Whatever

I haven’t seen too many movies multiple times, especially in the last decade (because “adulting”). The more recent Star Wars films, a couple of the Marvel movies, and one or two others come to mind, but in all recent cases it’s been 2. I saw Rogue One in IMAX on premiere night by answering a trivia question during the last IMAX showing for The Force Awakens. The trivia question was every (canon) starfighter that the Alliance used. I was surprised that I had that just available for instant recall.

so weird…so i tried looking up edge of tomarrow after everyones recommendation of it and it seems like its been taken down on every official streaming page. netflix has a page up but no movie for it…generally if they dont have a movie you shouldnt be able to find a page for it. Also amazon has a page and no movie for it.

Definitely worth the price for a paid rental.

Black Panther (6) times? Wow. And here i thought i was pushing it four times with Alita, and that’s a movie i friggin’ LOVE.

I dunno. Did you personally enjoy Black Panther that much? If so, cool.

Just watch it already, it’s great. Have you seen the trailers? That pretty much sums up the movie. Also Bill Paxton was great in it, and i’m pretty sure it was his last big role.

R.I.P Bill.

Love Conan the Barbarian so much, partly due to it’s soundtrack. Which is a masterpeice on it’s own.

I actually consider the romance to be one of the positives. Because it wasn’t overdone or obnoxious, and the moments it was touched on, were endearing and futhered the character development.

I can watch many different movies repeatedly (especially after a year or more), but I have never seen the same film twice in less than a week. I also generally like to extensively reflect on a film after watching it as I am getting some fresh air or food, so viewing a film repeatedly in the same day seems crazy to me.

Brotha, I loved every minute of every viewing. It’s one of my favorite movies ever.

Watched the spiderman into the spider verse with my son… I wished we watched it in the cinema… Very good film. The animation and the art direction was fantastic.

It’s really funny to actually see what people’s favorite movie’s are. One of my brother’s favorite movie is “I am Legend”. Sans the theatrical ending, I thought the movie was alright, but never held it in high regard.

I would say that a favorite movie is based more around the movie itself but also the "experience seeing it. What would you say is your favorite?

Mine is Return of the Jedi (Special Edition). ROTJ was already my favorite Star Wars movie. My dad and I saw the whole special edition set, but the audio levels in the theater for ROTJ were at full awesome. You could hear everything within the movie’s mix so all of the big moments were made so much better by experiencing it on the big screen.

My favorite film changes almost daily, but for today it is 1981’s ‘Escape From New York’.

has your bro seen the charlton heston version? from the 70s the omega man i think its called. i liked that movie 1000x better than i am legend. i think the cgi zombies were a massive mistake imo. shoulda just used real people.

I’ve seen the original. I don’t think he has. Agreed with the CG zombies. They look incredibly dated. It’s one of the few movies where the 4K transfer actually hurts the movie.

I can’t possibly have a singular favorite film. But rather, a list of all-time favorites.

(1982) Conan the Barbarian, (1986) Fist of the North Star Movie, (1989) Cyborg, (1986) Transformers, (1995) Mortal Kombat, (1984) The Last Star Fighter, (1986) Aliens, (2005) Batman Begins, (1987) John Carpenter’s Prince of Darkness, (1985) Rocky IV, (1982) The Beastmaster. I know there are more but that’s all i can think of right now.

Too early to say but, Alita Battle Angel might be on that list one day. There was too much goodness there. And yeah, Batman Begins is there and not Dark Knight. I guess i’m a sucker for a Great origin story.

Edit:

HBO= “Hey BeastMaster’s on!”
TBS= “The BeastMaster Station”

Because these stations overplayed Beast Master so damned much back in the day.
