I’m down for the Super release event (like i said before).

  1. Zen- there are concerns that people don’t want to pay huge tourney fees for a game that most of us won’t be playing for more than a week. I haven’t heard from everybody, but I know some would prefer smaller tournament fees perhaps on the magnitude of a couple of bucks per event. This is just what I’ve heard from a very small sample size, so take that for what it’s worth. Again, you’re the host so it’s your decision.

  2. Let’s get a list of everyone coming to the event and if we can try to get it done pretty early, then I can probably do it Saturday almost for sure. Where is it again? I’d probably go hang with my friend and then we can all play at me and Mike’s place till midnight (or later) if the venue is closed or whatever.

  3. There’s been talk about getting this community back on track. We had 6 people show up today. I know Wednesdays are bad for many people, but we need to know what we can do to get more gamers. We had 15-20 and now we have 6 coming? We can do better than this!

  4. Also, there has been talk of playing more games at our events. Lan_Di- I’m glad you bring games every time you come down even if we don’t play them very much. You make the effort and it’s up to us to get some games in with you. I know Zen’s brought games down and so has Warpticon. Props to everyone who has. I think we should all try to learn more games. We can help build foundations this way. Oh this game emphasizes footsies and spacing, oh this game emphasizes execution, oh this game emphasizes mind games. These are all important! Let’s try to get some more games going.

  5. Perhaps something that would address both is to have ranbats to keep people interested in coming? I don’t know, we need feedback on this.

That’s cool. We’ll drop the singles events to $5 a piece and keep the 3v3 to 15 per team. We’re still gonna do the $10 venue fee and use half of it for pizzas and drinks, cause well, it’s a party. And yes, if we can get a fairly solid list of people who are going to be there, I can have the tio stuff 80% done before the event.

The venue is here. If we have the majority of the people playing on a preregistration list of some kind, I think we should be able to kick off the first singles event (New Character Challenge) at 11:30am. I can get the venue to stay open till midnight. And I’m down with rolling back to Conway for more casuals after the event.

As far as the players/other games/ranbats thing goes, I had an idea. Why not have ranbats, but instead of playing the same game every week, we switch games. One week will be SSF4, one week 3S, one week maybe Dong Dong, or Jackie Chan, or some of the other more hardcore legit games. :bgrin:

What do you guys think? Should I post this in the tournament forum or do we want to keep this kinda small?

I’m honestly not really in favor of a tourney for a game that will be out for 4 days. I mean, I’ll still show and all, but I’m not paying even $5 for a contest to see who’s figured out the least in half a week.

It’ll be fun. Besides, plenty of other areas are doing it. Hell, some are having release party tournaments the night of release.

SO basically, your paying 20 bucks for a singles tourny, 3v3, and pizza/drinks. Consider that going to a movie and getting a bite to eat now is over 20 bucks and sooooo not worth it… you’re getting a days worth of entertainment to boot. Not to mention that you’re going to learn way more going, than you are just sitting at home in training mode. God knows my game came out looking better after Austin. The fact that I am playing in a tourney, and slowly learning to calm down during important matches is worth the 5 bucks to me…

Yes, its a new game, but what better way to get a head start, than to play in a tourney and get exposed to many characters and pick up a few things as you go.

Plus, I would like to get a list of people who have tv tuners/cameras/etc so we can make a good video(s). We have alot of peoples attention right now, and the more people who actually come and attend these events, the better. Depending on how many people we get, we can get a couple of announcers, and hell, if you decide you don’t want to play in the actual tourney, help out in another way.

Zen, I would be more than happy to help with any equipment setups, and work the brackets when you’re playing/need a break.

Maxx, Sorry Inebro and I couldn’t make it lastnight. I had planned to bring a new guy, but he ended up having to back out, and I still needed to catch up on sleep after last weekend lol. Now that I am not sleeping under a sink in a hotel room on a hard floor. (and getting woken up by randomness)

If i can bum a ride, I’ll be there. Willing to pitch in for gas.

I’ll let my bros know about it… I’m sure at least Flako would want to come. I’m still trying to convince Edison to get into SSF4.

Ill be there, and I might bring a special treat for all the Blaz fans to play around with

I’ll be rolling with Deezee If I don’t get hours on Saturday. Pitchin in on the gas as always ;D. Get ready to see some Juri/Makoto action. ( Me using someone besides Ryu? gasp)

Yeah, sorry I haven’t been around guys. I’ve had a lot of shit going on and I’ve been working a lot. Buuuuut, I’m definitely going to try and make the release party. If anyone wants to, we can have a meet up at my house tomorrow at anytime. Everyone bring some money so we can MM and make things interesting.

Kage - I’d be happy to pick you up that morning, and while I’ll be in Searcy, if ThyAllMighty wants a ride, I’ll get him too. Gas money would be appreciated.

Ghost - You or Inebro need to call me. ASAP. I’ve got news about our move, and it is fairly important. If somebody does want to bring a computer to capture video with and a couple good mikes to record commentary on, that’d be neat. So would streaming casuals if we went back to Max & Mike’s that night.

Anyway, if you’re gonna bring a setup, try to be there right at 11 so we can get everything ready to roll as quick as we can.

I just bring other stuff because SF4 makes me want to rip my balls off in frustration sometimes. If I had my way we’d be playing Garou/KoF02UM/HDR every week.

I actually think it’d be pretty boss if we all decided to learn something other than SF IV and get good at it as a community. I’d be down for learning Garou, MB:AA, Kof 02 UM, or w/e.

MELTY BLOOD, YES.

KoF02UM gets an asston of play in Japan, so much so that it’s getting played at SBO this year, and there’s a rebalance coming out for arcades and PS2 next July. It’s amazingly well-balanced already though, especially considering it has 60-something characters.

Of course KoFXIII is going to be a great game by all accounts, we could always pick it up when it comes out (next year. ha.)

We’ve got a game. DONG DONG NEVER DIE!

I’d be happy to teach people MB.

I’d be happy to play dong dong

Sweet, thanks man.

Same here.
