MOV says he might as well be banned from using Chun at SBO because his is so strong

please someone give us an accurate translation

someone do new subs for the vid then ? or send a message to the uploaders about it .

yea, someone spend hours of your valuable time to make new subs for the video for mr ryan wilson.

something like this isnt that easy to do.

also a message was sent to the french guy but he didnt really understand and get the point that its translated wrong.

According to the comments, the subtitles have been fixed, but it seems the dude just fixed the inaccurate translations from French to English, not Japanese to French. You need to enable captions to see the new subtitles.

There are still errors though, eg. ā€œje ne trouve pas ca terribleā€ means ā€œI do not think itā€™s terribleā€, but the English subtitle says ā€œI think itā€™s trashyā€.

Apparently some parts of the interview were also cut out, thatā€™s why thereā€™s no corresponding Japanese for some of the French translations.

Nothing. Itā€™s just obvious that itā€™s not what he said. We have somebody in this very thread who probably speaks better Japanese than the people that translated the shit into French and then into English again. If he can actually hear what MOV is saying and conclude that nothing about Chun Li making the game less interesting was saidā€¦then thatā€™s all anybody needs. Fuck the translators. If he did Iā€™m sure it would have been figured out by now.

I donā€™t even understand why thereā€™s a big issue about this any way. We know the shit is mistranslated, we have people that clearly understand Japanese who can basically tell us what he said and have already told us the jist of what he saidā€¦why is this still on some Inspector Gadget shit? Did he also explain the meaning of life too?

LOL.

well yeah.

Itā€™s actually not obvious what he said because parts of the interview are missing.

Well Iā€™m definitely not sitting around to find out what some extra little bit of the interview had him say. Iā€™ll leave that to the mystery solvers still caught up in this shit. LOL.

Heh. According to the uploader the actual interview was around 30mins long.

Well I can definitely understand how a 30 minute long interview of a top 3S player would worry them. Especially when the video is supposed to cover like 2 other things outside of MOV himself. The average Youtube watcher isnā€™t going to soak in 30 minutes of MOV and then still watch other shit on top of that. Theyā€™re on to another video before that happens.

My attempt at translating the whole interview:

Why so many nicknames?
ā€œMy real name is ā€˜Joeā€™, so I went with ā€˜Dragon Joeā€™, which is a silly nickname.
Back then though, I went by a lot of nicknames, and by the time I used ā€˜MOVā€™ which I also went by as a semi-joke, I managed to become more famous than before so I just stuck with that. Before I went by ā€œShibuya Brolyā€, I havenā€™t played any games in like three years, so I figured it would be a good time to change my nickname.
These days, I go by ā€œEgami Shonenā€ on SF4, another nickname I made up because itā€™s silly.ā€

Why choose Chun-Li as your main character?
ā€œWhen I was in middle school, I could only play about 200-300yen worth of games at the arcade in a day. There were really strong players like Mester and Nitto too, so I figured the only way I could beat them is if I used Chun-Li.
Nowadays I can play any characterā€¦well, actually my Chun is so strong I think I might as well be banned from using her at Tougeki. But you see so many Chuns there, so I figure the only way I can compete with them is if I bring her out too.
So unfortunately, I only play her during Tougeki time.ā€

Can you tell us more about the SF3 community?
ā€œIt would have been natural if 3rd Strike died out two years ago, but Nuki created the Danisen Battles, which Iā€™m sure people outside of Japan know about as well. Thanks to the Danisens, a lot of 3S veterans who played a long time ago started coming back, as well as newer faces who started for the first time.
The 3S playerbase as a whole is still lower than it used to be, but I think the Danisen battles have made things more interesting.ā€

Want to play other games?
ā€œIā€™d love to play MvC3 with somebody, but of course it gets laggy online, and I wouldnā€™t know what to do when Iā€™m playing by myself.
Regarding SSF4, Iā€™d like to play, but I would have to practice as hard as I can in order to compete with top players, so I guess it depends on how motivated I get.ā€

What do you think about Street Fighter 4?
ā€œIā€™ll be honest, I donā€™t like Street Fighter 4. I donā€™t like it, but itā€™s pretty much THE world standard when it comes to fighting games these days, so I guess I should be getting in on it. Iā€™m practicing bit by bit.
The thing I donā€™t like about this game is that when you get knocked down, the match could be over in an instant. Itā€™d be nice if we had more options to be able to do things, instead of just crossups and fakes. But I guess this isnā€™t such a bad thing, since it makes it easier for anybody to be able to get damage in and take rounds.ā€

Can you tell us more about Kuroda?
ā€œWell, there are a lot of great players out there like Nuki and Boss, but what separates them from Kuroda is thatā€¦well, frankly there are players whoā€™ll reach a certain plateau and be satisfied with where they are, but Kurodaā€™s always trying to figure out new things and is aiming to improve himself.
Naturally he teaches things to other players, but itā€™d be nice if more people would be able to understand the way he thinks and his approach towards fighting games. But only the people that know him well are able to figure this stuff out because he just has that type of personality.
Iā€™m not saying that he tries to horde secrets and tricks for himself, but I guess only people who are close to him know about his secrets and whatnot.ā€

Welpā€¦now all we need is the rest of the interview so we can know the answer to life.

Thx for trans.

It seems the jist of the whole Chun Li thing is that he was saying he just thinks his Chun Li is really strong but prefers to use the other characters when he can. Itā€™s just he wasnā€™t comfortable beating the best people without Chun. The arcade scene kinda forces you to pick your best character any ways because you wonā€™t be playing very often if you sandbag all day at an arcade with heated comp. Considering Chun is his main character any way heā€™s not going to run around with Yun or Ken when it really matters like at SBO. A top Yun player or Makoto wouldnā€™t just go to Chun Li for SBO if they felt most comfortable with their main character either.

Although itā€™s clear that she isnā€™t top tier Iā€™d never be able to use anyone else other than Ibuki in 3S because sheā€™s the only character in the game that truly fits my play style. I like long block strings, tricky mix ups and characters with strong normals and sheā€™s the only character that really fits all of that. Plus sheā€™s a ninja. I would just never be a top Chun Li player just because Chun Liā€™s play style doesnā€™t click with me at all.

anybody know what the semi-joke bout the mov is or whta it even means ?

btw omgitsaduck myself and mgear all make a super secret appearance in that video.

THANKS TO JHUANGGGG FOR THE TIP

thanks for the translatio aku-bro.

Even MOV knows how trash MVC3 is online and he lives in Japan where the connections should be at least decent. I really hope MVC3 fixes the netcode somewhat and thatā€™s considering they had trouble putting in a spectator mode for the original release.

I lolā€™d that MvC3 netcode is bad even in Japan.

Putting akuā€™s translation in the first post.

Oh but they can.

I donā€™t think anyone has a problem watching ogawa humiliate everyone

is that what happened to you. you were brought low by corporate greed and ill fitting suits.

They are still trying. They make me play on laggy monitors and no sound when they promise me arcade perfect. When thereā€™s a perfectly good arcade H2H cabinet right next us.
