Mortal Kombat Armageddon... will suck... hard

some serious MK mind ownage is needed to shell out for an arcade cabinet

Where did I hear before they were doing a create a character? Oh yeah, back in the day of MKD…

“You will have a fully customizable character named Shujinko!”

Lol. Boon has a way of leaving things half-done with his games. The least they could do is freaking fix the shittastic excuse of a fighting engine, and add some counters and stun animations. There is like no reason to interrupt your opponents moves.

I am still pretty curious of this air-combo system they have…

New game cabs are more then that, I remember when CvS2 first came out and the cabs were like 10,000 to 15,000 dollars a piece.

Shit hasn’t changed…

In the bottom frame, top left for the non-Japanese-inclined, is House of the Dead 4. It’s priced at 1,764,000 Yen, which is roughly 15-16k in USD. In the new item column on the right is Soul Calibur 3, Arcade Edition(just the PCB at 296,000Yen/$2700USD), and two spots under that is Time Crisis 4, the DX cab at 1,980,000 Yen($18k), or the standard cab at 1,380,000 Yen($12k).

So, Jae’s right. As long as online play for console is a viable option, arcades will cut more corners(anyone that’s seen any 3D game in an old SF/MK cab knows) just to keep their profit margin. Unless they have a somewhat dedicated customer base, or have a lot of money to toss at the project. If only Gates would do that instead of keeping most of these guys holed up in their rooms…

I have a STRONG and strange feeling that Motaro, Hornbuckle, and Khameleon will be the last hidden characters/items to be unlocked in the game. I’m thinking that as soon as we THINK we’ve unlocked everything in the game theres still that one last and final secret to be unlocked and I STRONGLY think that it will be Motaro, Khameleon and Hornbuckle. Just think about it, we THINK we’ve completed/unlocked everything, but somewhere in the options that it will say only 97% completed. Motaro, Khameleon and Hornbuckle would make up for the 100% completed. Even if they weren’t to make it to the XBOX and PS2 versions, it could be a big surprise if they would make it to the XBOX 360, PS3, and Nintendo Revolution versions.

SK EDIT: you forgot a hornbuckle

Damn, half the size, and the point was still made.

Well, if there WAS a point to that post…

That’s just what I was about to ask. What the point to that shrink was. Were you bored or something?
I’m not flaming.

Create-a-character mode will more than likely be another half-assed feature crammed into the game by your’s truly. Seriously, the characters in the MKD weren’t even solidified, so how on earth is there going to be a sufficient customization mode? To this day, there hasn’t been a single MK game where each & every character had their own unique voiceovers (& I’m not talking about that voicemasking crap from MKD either). Characters in Tekken 2 had their own voiceovers, for crying out loud!!

Chances are, if Midway can’t even get something so simple as to voiceovers correct, very little will. I’ve never played a game where so many playable characters felt flat & one-dimensional. Is it really that much of a hassle to hire more than five voiceactors? It was completely ridiculous how over 75% of the character roster in MKD either said “OYATAY!!!” or “HUMDUMDAEDAE!!!” after performing a move. What’s a “humdumdaedae” btw?

That is just routine behavior.

Yeah, he’s actually kinda tame now that I’ve seen him post somewhat intelligently in that Naruto thread.

HOT DAMN! Hit it on the head.

and QFT

As I have said, Boon and co have a way of leaving things half done and therefore half assed. Remember when Boon said the crap about “You will have a fully customizeable character named Shujinko!” during the days of Pre MKD.Now, you can’t even change his name.

If this game has online play along with allowing you to select each and every move for your custom character, then expect everyones custom characters to be the same only under a different name.

Wasn’t the MK:Shaolin Monks game done by Paradox Studios and not Midway? if Midway is trying to make the Konquest mode like Shaolin Monks, then knowing ole unibrow, its gonna be implemented wrong.

Well, I enjoyed the last two MK games, so I’ll be getting this. I just didn’t like how stiff the characters felt, that’s about the only thing that really bothers me (that and dial-combos). If the main game flowed as smoothly as Shaolin Monks, they’d be set

That would be cool. People still go to the arcades. There’s still arcade comp for capcom fighters and Tekken. Soul Calibur 3 is coming out for the arcade this year as well. I will guarantee that at least some people will play MKA in the arcade if it’s standing next to games like T5DR, SC3, CVS2, SFIII, etc.

But I though Midway pulled out of the arcade market…Did they go back?

At this point, it’s about the money with Midway and (probably) the MK Team.

There’s little money in the arcades, especially when the gameplay system sucks like it does.

But is there any word on if T5DR will become widespread in NA arcades anytime this year?

It looks and sounds interesting. I really can’t judge seeing as how it isn’t out yet. The only post Mortal Kombat 4 game that I played was Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance. I liked everything about the game except the actual game play. It was too stiff, clunky and mashy, I just couldn’t play it. I always played Mortal Kombat for casual fun so as long as the game is a playable, i’d get it. It makes it harder to say no, because now all of my favorite characters are in.

UMK3 and Trilogy (getting away from glitch hell), were pretty decent.

this game seems like another buy, then trade in 2 weeks later typed of game

id say its a “rent it at gamefly” personally
