I almost took the time to read the rest of this entire thread! But then I was like…everyone is complaining…end of story!!!
So to make a long rant short…people who hate the series and the previous MK games…don’t fuckin buy it. MK fans (like myself)…more power to yha and have fun. People in between…rent the game first or play it at someone else’s house and decide later.

The problem here is you don’t understand that about everyone here is a fan of the series, but hate what it has turned into. You apparantly don’t seem to understand how it feels when you have the chance to tell a creator how to make their game succeed, then watch as he completely ignores you, puts in 20 million useless side games, destroys any form of continuity with each installment, and STILL hasn’t fixed what should be the meat and potatoes of the game itself, the gameplay. You’re a perfect example of what’s wrong with the industry right now.
Midway would have my balls if they just made it like it was back in the good old days, pre MK4. 2D(or 3D if they can just fucking take a cue from Namco and/or Tecmo) fighting, competitive and TRULY NOSTALGIC. I mean, Mortal Kombat 1 and 2 made you feel like you were playing a Hong Kong martial arts film or Blood Sport. I want that feeling back, that’s one thing you can’t get from Street Fighter or Tekken. I want those big ass uppercuts back. I want to hear “TOASTY!” and see that guy pop up, I don’t want an update of that, I wanna fucking see them recycle that “TOASTY!” sprite and voice clip from MK1. I want Shao Khan(R.I.P., god bless his soul) to taunt my ass after doing that power punch across the screen(“Don’t make me laugh”, “Mwuahahahaha!”). I want gruesome violence and gore, the current gore is just comical and stupid, watered down.
What you guys say are MK’s selling points(shock value, casual play and nostalgia), are now sub par. Look at the violence and gore in MK1/2 and look at it now. I distinctly remember a MKD/DA character having a fatality where they jump on the opponent’s shoulders and pull their head, stretching their neck to an unrealistic length. Casual players have to have a breaking point. DOA4 is the best casual play possible. Nostalgia? Boon seems to not know what we miss about Mortal Kombat.
Take out that mutiple styles shit, Jax don’t know Kenpo. Take out the weapons. Take out the combo breakers. Take out those special highlighted death traps. Take out the character levels, I can’t believe they intentionally made some characters suck.
I want Tobias back.
I will buy this game when it is at a cheaper price. It will be fun to just fuck around with.
Until then, I will just wait and see what the peeps at SRK say.

I bought the other ones and still traded them in… but I will still take this one in. The create a fighter will be night to finall put the moves in that I want. The sweeps, Roundhouses, etc… so that will be nice.
We’ll see though. I REALLY REALLY hope the Grid is included.

Hopefully they will test it. Honestly I think they need to release an arcade version, what do they have to lose? In all seriousness do something for the community for Christ’s sake. Release it limited to only places who want to try it out, they could custom build a system that runs off PS2 for the love of God and that’s it. Advertise where the games are, this might just bring some business to the places that have it, and then test it to a playable point, and release a real version on the home systems with all the bonus stuff.
Yawn.
All of which has a snowball’s chance in hell of happening seeing as how successful the two console only iterations were.
I bet with next gen consoles they’ll be too lazy to even patch their games.

They already are too lazy, you have to hope and wait that it’ll be delayed system to system, and then spend $60 each time to get modified and newly broken gameplay.

The problem is, the casual gamers have gone ahead and bought Boon’s previous crap, then SOLD IT BACK within weeks. However, the initial sales are all that matter. SO, it’s not a matter of me not liking it and not buying it, its a matter of all the cannon fodder that makes Boon think he’s fucking God’s gift to gaming. At least Itagaki(even if he still needs some’s team is almost there. Boon blatantly shits in some of his most steadfast fans’ faces.

People still hoping MK series will do a 180. I gave up on the series after wasting money on MK4 (which was the nail in the coffin IMO for midway in the fighting game genre. Boon can’t make a good 3D. He has been trying since War Gods and has yet to get it right.
Why?? That would be a loss in money. Arcades are dying left and right and who wants to buy an MKA cab for $2000-$5000 ???/ I sure as hell wouldnt.
