I don’t know about all that. Its one thing since you play UMK3 all the time so of course you’d want the new MK to be that way, but lets be realistic. With Tekken, VF, SC, MK is in the mix of these 3D fighters. It has to step its game up and deliver something the others are nothing. NO going back now.

all i know is iv never been serious about MK its the 2d version of DOA its all about fun and dont say it werent because look how young we were when it was out compare street fighter 2 champ technically to even the great mk2 doa is an advanced version of MK’s phylosophy except with boobs instead of innards

Ignorance fills an MK thread once again. No one here is in any position to talk down about UMK3. It is widely considered by the competitive MK community past and present, hands down, to be the best MK game, not just me. Anyone who denies that fact doesn’t have a clue. This has been a fact since the mid 90s. MKDA and MKD are incomplete games and they left out concepts that would make it work better.

The combo system wouldnt be as bad if they didnt have those fucking “breakers” or whatever the fuck you call it to throw you across the screen when you start beating on your opponent too much.

Also . .if nobody noticed alot of the move animations in the 3d MKs look like a bag of wet shit. Bo Rai Cho throws up on the ground … Mei Lei does spinny kicks. . the other dude bends his back n shit . . not only do the moves look not painful but they are very uninspiring and bland. Mk was supposed ot be over the top and they dropped the ball a long time ago.
Never the less . .we can slam it all day and night, it will still sell and Boon will find some fucking morons to throw on DVD-extras that suck his dick dry about the history and evolution of the greatest game ever Mortal Kombat.
I’m still buyin it tho. I wanna be the first to find some more glitches like Mileenas infinite(which I still dont get credit for)

Sure, gameplay wise, it might be stale and as simple as the the last title, but that’s what renting is for! You don’t have to plunk down 50$ for it.
I remember you as one of the lead artists there in the fan art section before the revamp. You disappeared, until I saw your stuff here in the character select fan art challenge. Nice entries.
But there’s a lot of stuff I’m not liking. The create-a-fighter system lets you edit moves, which we know will lead to broken characters. They haven’t fixed the brokenness of the combos; they’re keeping the breakers. The only things sounding good right now are the new fatality system and the multiplayer mode with 8 people.
I’ll still buy it though. I know I’ll get some fun out of it before I decide to start digging. Besides, it’s MK Trilogy 2 in a sense. As I said before though, the team could do a lot better with MK.
You know what really killed Mortal Kombat, was the decision to make any MK game past MK4 on console. I did like the Mortal Kombat franchise but Street Fighter was so much better 10 times over. SF had more depth and strategy in it’s gameplay. All MK really had going for it was its fatalities and that was it.
Now since midway is making all these sequels to MK, it would be nice when Rare gets off its ass and bring out Killer Instinct 3. KI is probably my all time favorite fighting game next to Street Fighter and Tekken. Doing high hitting combos on that game is just too addictive.
Best MK ever = MKII and UMK3 (due to its competitiveness) Just my opinion.
I agree about Midway’s sudden decision to drop any semblance of an arcade presence, I think it’s one of the main reasons they’re compared to DOA is because Tecmo pretty much did the same thing. Lack of support for the arcades it seems will pretty much get your game hated instantly…too bad there won’t ever be another MK4 Road Tour or anything like that…

Ha! There will never be a “last MK”. They’re gonna milk this shit until the end of time as it’s the only thing that keeps Midway in business. Boon just said they’re gonna re-start MK with the slate wiped clean on next gen consoles.
Side rant: Hopefully they stay true to that word and don’t add any characters that currently exist. I know everyone will cry if Sub and Scorp ain’t in it. But if they’re in it, fanboys of other characters will start pissing their pants and crying to get their character back. Before you know it, there’s MKA2 in 6 years from now. Happens all the time and it’s gay.
So why do we want to play this again? Oh yeah…cuz Scorpion pwns errthang!
