Mortal Kombat Armageddon... will suck... hard

Yes.

arent DM’s and super arts just hard hits with cut-scenes attached? lol

it brings a certain fear factor to the fight, usually rings out are in a wide spread area but death traps arent so big and are triggered with a hard hit rather than a usual uppercut meaning it could instantly happen

it does its job fine :wink:

man i cant believe you people got me sticking up for mortal kombat :lol: but yeah what i said is true

The one problem I do have that was the most stupid thing I think they did to MK.

Why did they change the button layout?? Like HP. LP. HK. LK.

d.HP = uppercut
away.LK = sweep
away.HK = roundhouse

Least keep it the same but look different for each style.
That is onething my friend(s) were WTF’in about when they picked up MKD(A). Being a MK fan (hardcore till the MKD(A)) I was very disappointed when I tried to do an uppercut, a roundhouse, or even a sweep. Seriously, that is like Street Fighter making a sweep or SRK totally different for different people. Having to hunt through the command list on how to sweep what very troublesome.

How about Boon actually mentioning something noteworthy for the engine in MKA? Like wake-ups, no universal tracking, throw escapes, & adjusting that crappy reversal/counter system from MKD?

It’s probably because he doesn’t care about that stuff, and he knows most MK fans don’t care about it either.

More info, ripped from a site.

*In the Kreate-a-Fighter feature you are given six pages of options in creating your custom fighter. Everything from nose size, eye angle, color of garments, belt, and even your own fighting style. But your own fighting style isn’t just assigning a preset fighting style to character, but instead you actually get to assign every attack you can make and name the fighting style whatever you want to!

Another big feature that was elaborated further in the issue is the expansion of the new Fatality system. Now instead of just watching a Fatality act out like a movie or play, instead you will be able to control every step in the Fatality. You will be given a set allotment of time to execute various movements, some exclusive to your fighter, to decimate your victim. The amount of possible moves are not set in stone yet, it depends on how much they can squeeze into the game’s memory.

Also they mention that the old Krypt is now going to be revamped and called The Vault now. Now you will not have to focus on one area of the game to unlock the Vault contents, instead content can be unlocked from all the various game modes. That means if you don’t like Konquest, you could still unlock the hidden content via the Arcade mode instead.

Finally, one sad note is that the former mini games, Puzzle Kombat and Chess are not making a return in this game. Instead there is a mention of a new “strange” online multiplayer game that supports up to 8 players at once. I personally can’t wait to see what this may be. I personally would love to see something similar to the MK Team’s arcade multiplayer shooter game The Grid make an appearance.*

Well, I at least like what they’re doing with the Vault and fatalities.

I know. However, alot of veteran MK fans HAVE stressed how they’ve wanted to see these features (& more) implemented into future MK installments. It’s almost as if Midway doesn’t know how to make a quality 3d fighter. Just how many more installments will it take for MK to reach even the level of playability of such 3d fighters as Bloody Roar or KOF:MI? Those two games have played way better than any of the 3d Mk’s.

Boon’s mindset is that of a fifteen year old. “Yeah, we’re gonna pump out another crappy MK title for current gens before attempting to do anything serious for the next gens.” I could give a damn how many playable characters, unlockables, fatalities, features, etc. there are. If the gameplay’s ass, what’s the use? MKD best fighting game of 2004?:rofl: Would have loved to have seen the expression of guilt on the MK team’s faces. No wonder Boon & Tobias parted ways.

I tried to get into this to but with no luck.MKA sounds like a good idea but Im tired with these 3d fighting games I want 2d god dammit.

:rofl:

Anyway, no Puzzle Kombat? That blows. And the Kreate-A-Fatality is preset? Double damn…there goes my idea of stabbing my opponent in the groin and peeing on the wound. However, now that I see how fatalities are going to be done in this game, and that the Kreate-A-Fighter feature will definitely allow me to put both myself AND my homemade martial art of Hanzogenryu in the game (That’s my first style, my second one is Jeet Kun Do, and my weapon would probably be nunchucks)…drool

I like to put myself in any game with a Create-A-Character mode that involves smacking the shit out of my opponent. Too bad I can’t make myself in SC3. (can’t make my guy fatter, and no preset face looks like mine…damn, I got suggestions for Namco…) The concept of me chopping people’s arms off and shit is dope beyond the comprehension of any living being’s very imagination. Hand Hanzo > every other character on the ‘coolness during play’ scale IMO.

And lastly, what they’re doing to the Vault is great. I fucking HATED the Konquest mode in MKD. It was an annoyance to find all the shit there. I spent most of my time in either the Arcade mode or the Puzzle game mode. But since they’re 1: reformatting the vault so that all modes unlock shit and 2: making the Konquest mode like MK:SM (which I’ve never played, but I hear it 0wnz hardcore)

I wish I had a time machine so I could fast forward to the day this game comes out.

I can finally make my Indian with Tribe Slapahoe fighting style.

Better hope that time machine has a double charge on it, as you’ll probably be in a hurry to get back in time and cry in your room.

Anyways, Boon(ugh) doesn’t have have to revamp his shitty engine, just FIX IT goddamn it!!! No, I don’t mean “Band-aid” it, I MEAN FUCKING FIX IT!!! The majority of the damn MK community is wary of this damn game, on ly the leet “oooooo blood/bewbies!!!” community is salavating, they attack anyone who critiques the game as not being “true fans”, please.

A real killer, is someone who was playtesting, actually did Bo’s infinite IN FRONT OF BOON!! His solution? Swap the move with a diff. style -_-.

Boon really needs to wake up, this aint the day and age when MK reigned supreme off violence, that you idiot, has practically become a videogame staple. Fix the damn engine, and restore MK to some fraction of its glory, you’ve already pissed on and spat in the face of John Tobias’ vision of the mk story with your endless retcon bullshit, might as well salvage the shitty system you yourself cooked up, or have someone make one for you!

/Brutality

lmao

my two styles will be “Who’s” and “Your daddy” or “i weel” “keel yoo”

or i might just steal sixty’s tribe slapahoe, or rival him with tribe pimpaho :rofl:

lol!!! :tup:

Lemmie know when the slappin begins! woot.

Hearing about this news I just had to post. Any Mugen will be better than MKA. Hell, I play MK4 Gold over the new 3D MK and will play it over them any day. I guess they couldn’t wait for me to join the team and now it seems they’ll fuck this one up too. A sad day in MK indeed.

I love MK! I love the storylines. There is things I like about it and things I hate about MKA. In MKA I like the fact that the Konquest will be like MK:SM. Create a Fatality sounds kool and the Create a Fighter. I’m glad they are bringing back Reiko and Rain are coming back. Damn 60 characters in this game. There is going to be a lot of unblanced characters in this game. Plus I don’t like the fact they are using that shitty engine again. Will Boon ever learn? I bet a lot of characters are going to use the same fighting styles just like they did with MKD. Example would be Darrius and Kobra uses the same karate style just like Johnny Cage from MK DA. Only time will tell.

If that infinite shit is true, then we’re in for a sucky game. No way Boon is going to let sucky playtesting get in his way with 60 characters.

But you have to admit that MK still has it’s glory, to some extent. That has to be the only reason it still sells. It was the first fighting game (I know of) with blood and gore, and many people grew up with it or with knowledge of it. That placement in time helps a lot. I’m sitting here badmouthing MKA, but I know full well that I’ll buy it when it comes out. Compared to all the bad decisions I’ve made with my gaming dollar, buying MK Trilogy 2 isn’t bad at all really.

A few things I want to comment on.

MKA will be terrible. They need to impliment gameplay aspects to get around the glitchiness rather than removing parts of gameplay bit by bit. For instance a solid wake up attack system with some variety to it, throw prevention, like oh I dunno D+B? A lot of the old properties that were in the 2D games should still be there because the special moves, general movement (except jumping) and attacking is so similar even still. They really screwed shit up with being able to chain full combos in juggles. The original release of MKD had Shujinko sporting EASY 80%+ juggles found within days, to the point where they damage protected him out the ass on the GC version. The glitchiness, the crap, the bad, the horrible, the everything, needs to be gone over with a fine tooth comb, all shit needs to be reapplied, things that worked, and then they might have a real game on their hands, with 56 characters.

Another thing I saw, something about “MKII being the high point of MK.” In what universe? MKII is a terrible, slow, turtle fest. UMK3 is inarguably the high point of MK games, it went up exponentially each time, from MK1 - MKII, MKII-MK3, MK3-UMK3, and then leveled off at MKT, and plumetted through the ground at MK4, and then somehow went even further at MKDA, and again with MKD. Here’s not another chance to improve, but another one to cash in and disappoint.

I saw a comment about recent match vids from Clash for UMK3, yes, it did in fact get some love, we had an unofficial gathering, the matches are here:

Enjoy, because this the game they need to look at, and modify into a solid 3D game in order to bring out the best in MK, and be a respectable fighting game.

Oh, I’m sure they’ll do SOMETHING…reason why? Why make over 60 character models for it never to be reused? An investment that could easily be made, dies in one game…but it’s a personal analysis…hell look at CAPCOM, been rehasing all their lives

Most people quit caring about MK when they realized it was a shallow, dull and scrubby game with no gameplay and all shock value. Shock value only last so long.

Except for UMK3 which is the complete opposite of what was just described.

we all know you worship UMK3.
