I’m not buying it JUST for UMK3, but I have the Premium on reserve.
I’ll be playing this game online for the PS2, hopefully ill see some of you guys there:tup:
didn’t know umk3 was in this…hmmm. i watched a bunch of videos off the official site. still looks terrible, but could be fun to mess around with
I’ll be buying it. Mostly for the KAK though. Posting up formulas a stuff.
raises hand
Of course I’ll buy it. Its mk and mk sucks… the money right out of my pocket every fucking time.
i’m still torn. i bought the first one…complete and utter shit. second came out and i was like, ok, it might be improved. wrong. now here i am at a crossroads again. should i let boon and co. make me their bitch for a third time…
Whoa! MAJOR Character Spoilers!
My copy of the game came in some hours ago and yes, Chameleon and Khameleon ARE in the game as hidden characters, BUT here’s an even bigger surprise. Do you all remember Hornbuckle? He was the guy that was fighting Blaze in the background of MKII on the Pit 2 stage. Hornbuckle is the hidden boss after you fight Blaze, but certain conditions must be made. One of the conditions is going thru the game without losing a round. That’s all I have for now.
I thought Hornbuckle rumor was a fake. If memory serves me correctly, he looks like Liu Kang but has like a bionic/robotic arm or something like that.
Did you just post this at GameFAQs and people started saying this is BS? As for Khameleon, do you mean second costume, cause Chameleon is already unlocked?
Also, is the rumor about you can only have one saved character for Kreate a Kharacter per memory card thing true?
Yeah, that’s fake. Cham is already there.
IDK about the 1 KAK per card, but that seems true. It’s not 1 KAK per card though. It’s one per profile. You can make more profiles on a card (though if you care about online rank, this is still bad).
They sort of confirmed that on On The Spot at Gamespot (9/14/06). Jeff Gerstmann said there appears to be only 1 KAK per profile from what he could see. He had also said he was only playing the game for 30-45 minutes later on. It may or may not be true, but it’s looking true right now.
Just as I feared, the character codes on UMK3 must be reentered again everytime you load it. Well, its back to playing UMK3 on MAME again.
I fear the same thing might happen with the XBox arcade version.
SRK Fact: When Liokaiser starts posting stuff, it’s false. ALWAYS FALSE
Well, to re-answer an earlier question about KAK’s, there’s only one per profile. It seems stupid, but you can make 8 profiles and carry items you buy over from one profile to the next.
…Which just gets me back to wondering why you couldn’t just have several KAKs per profile.
Played through it in arcade mode twice. Coming from someone who put about two hours total into Deception and hating it, I have to say that I’m liking this a lot more. Don’t get me wrong, it still has bullshit/glitchy things wrong with it (ex. Sub Zero not being able to make an ice clone when right next to his opponent, which makes sense, but the sound effect still registers and he is unable to do the move again until the time when the clone would dissipate on its own automatically-like 6 seconds or so).
However, the fact the number of styles has been reduced actually works in the games favor IMO, as does the addition of air combat. Instead of only being able to do big damage through memorization of insanely long canned strings branching across three separate styles, the biggest damage options come from comboing into launcher and then air throws, combos, etc., which are fairly easy to execute but still require timing to pull off. Also, the improved ground game, parries, and OTG hits help spice things up a bit. All in all, it’s still MK and can’t be played in a seriously competitive sense, but it’s actually kind of fun this time.
Just for the hell of it, easy Sub Zero combo:
S, T, away+T, away+T, up (air pursuit), O (airthrow), O (airthrow), b,f+O (OTG cold shoulder; depending on positioning may not hit).
Note: the cold shoulder doesn’t register on the combo counter, but you get 8 hits (30%) damage for the portion that does, so I’m guessing around 35-38% damage or so.
It’s Fun, I like it so far. Beat the game with Goro just to see what its like to play a big guy, Looks Like Midway listened to the fans as far as the wake up game and glitches go. As of now I dont see any glaring broken things, but then again I only played for about 2 hours. Im sure people will find fucked up broken things to abuse in the future, (Hopefully not though) Motor Kombat is fun too. It plays a lot like the Midway Arcade Racer Arctic Thunder.
Anyway Im about to play Konquest mode so that I can unlock different KAK items. I’ll probably create Khameleon or some type of female Ninja, and then go online with her tomorrow.
Edit - Oh yeah, on my first match after I won 2 rounds and was prompted with FINISH HIM! I started mashing Dragon Punch Motions and hit different buttons, which rewarded me with a 5 string long Fatality.
Awesome!!
Can anybody here tell me when MKArmageddon will be released here in the Philippines? I hope I didn’t go off topic…
Just seen a Kommercial for this game, i didnt know it was out already… I bought the last one that came out (Anighlation) an played for like 3 weeks off and on, was’nt bad, but the online comp was’nt enough to keep my interested, as well as the game play…
Now i know its still MK so its still kinda broken, but every MK karacter?? Its gotta be somewut fun right!!?? I dunno u guys lemme know. Is this game worth buy’n for the characters, secrets, konquest mode and XBL or should i just use the money on SpinterCell Doule Agent instead?
Do not buy this game
5/10
- character select screen is purty
+konquest is kinda fun
+kreate a fighter seems interesting
+one type of koin for the vault
+deathtraps are fun to watch but gets boring after a while
-main gameplay is really crappy: clunky and boring
-death traps should be a little harder to knock someone into
-no char fatals is a bummer : |
-air combat feels really tacky and is not needed
-characters have no personalities anymore (mainly the scary subbosses who have been severely weakened and don’t play like their formerselves due to balancing issues or how everyone feels generic)
-blaze = lamest boss since shinnok
-motorkombat is ass
-poorly executed, lots of bugs. Feels pasted together and rushed. overrall, i dont feel that this game deserved my 45$ I didn’t set my expectations high for mk but i had a decent time with DA and deception so i thought mka would atleast give me cheap fun thrills. Unfortunately, it didn’t even do that.
Quick question?
Did they go old school and make it 2d or is it this 3d garbage?
Do u mean No fatalities??? That cant be, is so why even call this mortal kombat… tell me i misunderstood this guy…
