Mortal Kombat Armageddon... will suck... hard

cant someone give a ligitimate answer for fucks sake, its fun, it isnt fun

IGN gave an in depth review and gave it 8.5/10

someone stop being an ass, play with friends and online, find a favourite character, and give a decent fucking review

im sick of this shit.

Easy, Ki…the sites shoryuken.com…don’t expect posts without bias.

Go to fatality.com or toasty.net if you dare (haven’t been there…isn’t a plug).

OR grow a pair and buy the game without someone holding you hand to make a decision.

He means no character specific fatalities, everyone can do the same fatalities through the kreate a fatality mode.

I hate the endings. How hard is it to insert Illustrations or, god forbid, Pre-rendered movies?

But I can’t stop playing it. It’s addictive.

Final review:

MKA > CFJ.

Full 2D, 256 color with genuine mono sound.

hahah low blow, low blow.

Theres a shitload of things to do in this game but the gameplay is still trash. Fun little pickup if you want something to break.

ok i have a choice between mka, tenkaichi 2, or kof 2006. only ONE, so forgive me for relying on opinion instead of buying a game because of its fucking name

having balls gives me the maturity to investigate instead of buying a game cos gokus on the front cover.

and yes you didnt help. but thanks for passively trying

Just got done playing it…what a piece of shit.

Total cut and paste job…example, Smoke has new moves, but they are just old animations with new commands.

I didn’t see one new style. Since every charcter has only 2 now they simply moved existing styles to “new” characters. Like someone said earlier, its like they have no personality anymore…Reptile is just a new skin on an old style with some recycled specials.

No fatalties. Yeah they are a minor part, but at least that would have kept me somewhat intrigued. Everyone basically does a Brutality type finisher followed by a generic ender like a head rip or arm rip.

Gameplay is faster, but even with the new mechanics is feels sloppy. Air combos feel clunky as fuck and most of it just looks like the ground animation but in the air.

Endings suck ass…Onaga doing kata is teh gay. Would it have killed them to draw up some stills? I mean fuck, we have plenty of useless art in the krypt.

Even “new” weapons aren’t new. I’m sorry but giving an old weapon a new name and cosmetic changes doesn’t make it new.

Overall it feels rushed, pasted, and spread thin. The lack of new styles, fatalties, etc. just kills it. Did I mention the gameplay feels shitty too? Fuck this game and fuck Ed Boon in the ass with a big rubber dick.

2/10

(The opening movie pushed it from a 1 to a 2)…avoid this pile of shit at all costs.

I’ll be buying the game when it’s out here, which is supposedly the end of October. I bought Deception knowing how awful it was going to be, and I expect no less from Armageddon. Still should be a laugh if anything else.

Picked it up last night, here are my thoughts on each mode:

Main Game: If you’ve played Deception, you’ll feel very familiar with this. They’ve cut back to 2 styles per character (usually 1 hand to hand and 1 weapon, some have two of the same.) Bigger characters only have one style. Combos feel pretty much the same, I think they may have taken out combos into other styles as I haven’t found any yet. The new aerial combat system is kinda cool, think MvC’s aerial rave system. All characters have some sort of move (usually an elbow or uppercut) that knocks there opponent in the air, thats where you do the jump up pursue and combo them, looks pretty cool but easy to pull off and gets boring after a while. Combo breakers are still in, but now they’ve included Parries. A parry is performed when you block and hit toward (I think it was toward) the opponent, the parry sends them spinning and gives you a free hit. Its kind of cool, but too cheesy, as far as i’ve seen they are too easy to land and you get unlimited amounts of them (its like a better version of a combo breaker.)

As for characters, yeah, theres a fuck load of them. But i’m not complaining that their all copied and pasted (thats similar to complaining SF2 and GG’s releases.) I like the fact I can play as nearly everyone. Thats something I didn’t like about Deception, I got bored with most of the characters fast. My only complaint is that they gave Motaro 2 legs, wtf?? Many of them all have alternate costumes (I was disappointed to see Sub Zero’s deception outfit wasn’t there, but later found out its unlockable.) I beleive there are 4 characters to unlock through konquest mode.

Fatalities: Yeah, they took out signatures which I think really sucks. But then again, fatalities don’t necessarily make the game (fighters like SF or KOF don’t have them, although they do have super arts =P) The kreate-a-fatality system is kind of weak, its just generic limb rips and kicks to the nuts, not really anything that seperates the characters. Although I think this mode shines the most with a Kreated character, I didn’t want to steal someone elses fatality, I wanted my own no matter how generic it looked. And for those who haven’t see the fatality list, it actually is quite complex! Here are some scans of the guide (courtesy of fivefournine on gamefaqs.)

Bottom line: Unless you have friends to play against, or like online comp, it all boils down to how you like the combat system. It feels pretty basic, even with aerial attacks its still a dial a combo (albeit a more advanced one.) system, timing matters very little.

Konquest: I haven’t played too much, but I enjoy it. My only complaint is that its not a free roaming like the last one. Its like a watered down God of War and Shaolin Monks (ALOT like God of War actually, right down to the fatalities and big treasure chests.) I’m enjoying the story so far, but I can’t say for sure since I only just started it. I do however, HATE how there are traps that can kill you in one hit , this wouldn’t be so annoying if a screen saying “YOU DIED” comes up everytime, followed by an annoying loading screen… Combat is generic hack and slash, you do acquire new moves for later on (all I have is a ground pound which whipes out all nearby enemies.) But otherwise your using the same combos over and over… Major fights still use the 1 on 1 fighting system though, which is a good thing.

Motor Kombat: Its OK… I only played one track and it was kind of fun, you really have to rely on speed boosts and power ups because it feels like EVERYONE GOES FASTER THAN YOU. May be enjoyable with a friend, but I don’t see this mode lasting very long.

Kreate-a-fighter: I LOVE this mode. Far deeper than SC3’s. Customization is very deep. You do get the choice of alot of accessories, but the biggest draw IMO is the fighting styles. You can choose your stance and pretty much bind whatever move you want to each button. You even get to name the style which I think is pretty cool, unlimited possibilites here (I made a version of myself and created a boxing style for him =P.) I know people are complaining you can only create one character per profile, but its not hard. Make new profiles and on the fighter select screen hit L1 and input the code for the fighter you want. Also worth noting, most of the parts require koins to purchase. Considering how easy it is to acquire money and how cheap everything is, its not a big deal.

Krypt: I think the Krypt has changed for the better. You can actually see what your unlocking now. That and they changed the currency to just one type of koin (which isn’t hard to acquire in Konquest mode.) Some things can still only be unlocked through konquest mode (mostly characters.)

Premium Package:

Casing: Tin case is pretty cool, different designs (I go the Johnny Cage vs. Goro one.) Not a huge selling point for an extra 10 bucks though…

Animation Cell: Yeah, kinda lame just a cell of the cover art. And no, despite the name, its not animated…

UMK3: One of the biggest selling points for me, plays pretty nicely. Not much to say about it, if your a fan of UMK3, its pretty much the same. Great to be able to play it on current gen consoles. Just to note, the game is included on the Armageddon disc and NOT on the bonus DVD.

DVD: The History of Fatalities is cool (basically a video of the creators talking about how fatalities changed from game to game as well as there favorites/least favorites.) The character cards are cool if you like to hear the history of the characters (Not everyone from Armageddon is included, if they were in deception, they usually just used the Deception card instead.)

Well theres my 2 cents. Its a tough choice really, I enjoy it but it all boils down to if you’ll play with human players (like any other FG.)

Yeah i basically paid 50 bones for UMK3

is umk3 playable on xbl?

So you can make brothas without difficulty, right?!

I believe not, unfortunately

Pretty much. Aside from the parts you’ll have to purchase, limbs and clothing usually cost around 100-300 koins (you can make at least 5k within the first half hour of Konquest.) Moves cost about the same (although specials usually cost 1k-3k.) When you save your guy, its not final. You can always make changes, slowly earn more money and add more to him.

I had no difficulty putting myself in the game and i’ve read several reviews stating the same, so go for broke.

wow thats sad. Thats 75% of the reason i even concider play’n any of the new MK’s… mehh i think this we be a renatl for sure… And u cant plau UMK online either…PPl r say’n the ending are garbage, and i liked the ending in deception… The only thingt hat sounds remotely worth it is the character creation part. I think i’ll rent it just for that…

No. It’ll be kind of stupid if it was since UMK3 is coming out on XBLA.

I’m not the only one. I found myself playing UMK3 before MKA. 5 plus hours of 2-D goodness! Does anyone know if Motor Kombat is 8 player online? I haven’t got my internet connection back to check yet.

MKA’s gameplay has already been viciously chipped at by MKD players…

I bet there’s infinites galore…
