@pat728 What’s the whole input of the XF3 combo just for reference?
ROLL CALL! Morrigan players attending EVO, make yaself shown! I’ll be there, if anyone else is there and happens to have a setup (or the means to get to one) we gotta get some games in!
Im in Vegas, at the paris right now. Hopefully we will bump into each other at some point. I was playing DJ huoshen and Unknown last night with my Morrigan/Mag/Doom team. Disruptor assist does so well against players who have a good ground game/play ground based characters.
I noticed Chris G does single air fist and air dashes in but usually sits back when doing double air soul fist. I’m guessing that the single is for hit confirming and getting in and the double is for zoning and keep away?
When you’re in the air you fire the soulfist and then flycancel to put some cover on the screen while you make your approach in flight mode. It’s not just for a hit confirm, it’s for safer pressure since you’re flying in behind a projectile. And, if you want to do multiple dashes/plink dashes you need to be in flight mode to cover a lot of distance.
Is there a button configuration that makes it easier to do soul fist spamming? I’m playing on PS3 pad and I use Square - L, Triangle - M, X - H, and O - Special
I’m using the same thing except my H and S are swapped. The button placement doesn’t really matter because you never have to double/triple press or hold down a button. You’ll always just be pressing one single button at a time. If you’re having trouble, try doing the patterns a bit slower and work your way up to speed.
Thanks!
I switched my L and M so now my M and H is kinda easier to go back and forth from after fly canceling. Yeah I just need to get the patterns down. I noticed that doing a slight pause after flying made it easier to do H soul fist. Does anyone know of any other timing tricks that make the patterns easier? My problem is usually input errors where a fly or soul fist won’t come out
Edit: Added another slight pause after Morrigan lands from her unfly and it’s helping with the consistency and execution. Basically slowing down like Pat said
hey guys, here are my evo matches

Heres an EVO match of mine vs Toki. I spoke to Oerba at EVO. Wonder if anyone recorded his matches? He told me he lost to a Dante/Wesker/Strider team in pools but I think he made it out in losers. Wonder who he lost to. I made it out my pools in losers then lost to a Dorm/Strange player called Godric. I see why people say Dormammu can handle morrigan because I wasnt ready for it. The matchup is 5-5 imo but only if you rushdown with morrigan. Playing lame like I do gets you killed vs Dorm because his lame is stronger vs her.
Also may aswell post up Aliounes matches. I think hes the best morrigan alongside Chris G and maybe Jeo from japan? The PS3 affect really hit him hard I think though.
Any character with a teleport forces you to go in for the most part, because they can negate your work so easily, mess your inputs up, and fuck you over.
Sup people, I don’t think any of my matches were recorded at evo:( But yea, I lost my very first match versus Wesker/Dante/Strider 1-3, but then I had the chance to run it back in loser’s final and I won 3-1 against him. His name was Schowtz I believe. Luckily I have a ton of good Dante/Vergil/Strider experience, I can beat most Dante/Strider and Vergil/Strider pairings. He caught me off-guard by playing very aggressively, but he didn’t seem to know how to calm down and I was able to hit him within the spaces of his rushdown. After pools I lost to a guy playing Nova/someone/Sentinel named BloodyPicture, I was so adamant on getting AV that I left myself open too much:( All in all nice talking to you Cheech, shame we couldn’t get matches in since our talk was cut by our matches.
WTF Oerba! You were supposed to win evo!
Anyways, in response to cheech, yes alioune is very sick. Even though he doesn’t use doom, every morrigan player should watch his videos and take notes on his movement and everything really. JEO is pretty cool too. I learned a lot watching him when ultimate first came out, but I would not consider him one of the best morrigan players anymore. He’s definitely one of the more interesting morrigan players though due to his unique team. In his recorded off stream evo matches, his play looked kinda sloppy and nervous. Maybe he had the jitters or just the ps3 effect. It was kind of disappointing…
Oh and Dorm beats morrigan. It’s a bit hard to put it to numbers since people can have different assists and team orders and all that, but dorm definitely wins this matchup usually. You have to rush him down, but good dorms with good movement and use of teleports will make this very difficult. There are a lot of bad dorms that can’t move and let themselves get rushed down by morrigan but don’t think morrigan wins or goes even because of them.
Yeah as someone who used to main dorm I never had problems against morrigan with him. It would be so cool to see people picking dorm more to counter the morridoom but Anchor Vergil just destroys any dorm team; so the counterpick may not even work half the time as most people seem to play MDV. Fucking Vergil.
i almost only rushdown with morrigan so i wouldn’t know how the zoning vs zoning works vs dorm >.>
Hopefully this is new tech. I know there are other ways to convert but this seems the easiest/most consistent:

Kind of a subtle trick. I haven’t seen this posted or brought up before, but I would assume some people are already aware of this as it’s fairly simple. Anyways, if you air dash with two attack buttons and S, you get an air dash canceled with flight. This allows you, for example, to do jump soul fist, fly, down L+M+S, j.H, standing chain. j.H is less of a commitment than j.S, leads to a more damaging combo, and has a better crossup hitbox so it’s more likely to catch dash under attempts.
The problem is that you’re prematurely canceling your flight mode, and removing your ability to unfly and block during a super flash. Especially when you can confirm the dash down j.H into an unfly, land and continue from the hit anyway.

Yes, that’s definitely a downside, although it’s not like you could unfly your j.S with the normal approaches. Using a one hit move instead of a three, makes you less vulnerable to alpha counters if people ever start doing that. The main upside over ADD j.H unfly is that theres no risk of your unfly getting crossed up by opponents getting behind you via jump, slide, or teleport. Some characters seem to duck under j.H while in flight as well. It may or may not turn out to be good, but I’d like everyone to be aware of it so we can figure out its true potential. You’re right about ADD j.H unfly being a good option as well.
Yawn…I feel like my Morrigan is improving too slowly right now. If anyone has gameplay footage of their Morrigan they’ve been holding on to, I’d love to see it.
