It is a great way to kill phoenix players since they always block sides, I’ve actually killed phoenix with it before. It’s hilarious. The down TAC followup has to be from midscreen. Air dash down as soon as you possibly can and then soul drain quickly around the lowest point of the ADD before you start going forward and up. It might be kinda hard at first. But you can’t get the corner side TACs either? You just do it as soon as you come in. If I make it far enough to be on stream at next week’s UFGT8, I’ll try to hit someone with it if you guys cant find the timing. Also, I don’t want to say for sure that there is nothing off an up TAC. I’ve looked into it and I couldn’t find any way to do it though. It may be possible, but I haven’t figured it out.
Hey what capture device do you use? Those colours are gorgeous!
You are gdlk, I had something similar but with regular soul fist so cheers!
Mixing in my own thing I got:
Air dash down, immediate soul drain, fly, ADD j.M, j.H, Soul fist H, unfly, Shadow blade / TK Shadow blade, Finishing Shower
Just went back into training mode and found more:
You can do ADD soul drain from a mid screen side TAC as well. You need really good timing on these ones though which is probably why I didn’t find them before.
Midscreen OR corner UP TAC (XF):
ADD > soul drain will connect during x factor 1, 2, or 3(though 3 is impossible if you’re able to TAC)
You can also up TAC and xfactor right away and then ADD to soul drain.
Corner down TAC (XF):
Will work in any x factor level. Can be used before the up tac or right when morrigan comes in.
All of the previous non XF ones will work during XF too.

Made a video for this. More Morrigan players should know about this:

I also experienced the same glitch you described where the opponent would ground bounce as if they were hit by a down TAC. It only happened once for me, but I’m wondering if it can be consistently replicated so that when the opponent gets bounced, Morrigan uses Astral Vision, and then Soul Drain for a 60% meter drain when the opponent drops.
Blackmagic Design Intensity Pro, but the quality has more to do with the codec used.
Hey Mr. Bubble. Eventually I want to acquire something to make videos. Are you pretty happy with the BDIP? Is it pretty easy to work with? Are you PS3 or 360?
Nice! Now we gotta figure out that down TAC glitch. I’m pretty sure I remember seeing firebrand with something similar…

Optimized Morrigan combos midscreen + corner
This is exactly the type of thing I was looking for. Some decent solo combos with Morrigan.

Some footage of my Morrigan/Dorm/Doom team. I really think Vergil/Vajra is impossible to reliably win against with Morrigan. 3rd game I tried to play it safe, back off at the beginning of the round and protect Doom with a double air soul fist. I get my unfly input crossed up by a teleport then he does st.H and catches both characters.
Here I am, trying to think of any tips and advice I can give you, but all I see is Vergil/Strider, teleportin’ and going nuts, messing up your inputs
Yeah I cant think of anything either.
Part of Morrigans movement is precise qcf, qcb movements. Thats how she moves. For a character to just completely shut that down, Morrigan cant really do much else because she doesnt have a great ground game. Her normals are really good but theyre not for poking and she sucks at whiff punishing which makes it impossible to capitalise on vergils weakness of not being able to cancel normals on whiff.
You have to guess what theyre gonna do just to move and you also have to guess block constantly because of constant side switches from full screen.
Only other option is trying to activate astral but because of spiral swords vergil pretty much gives no fucks about that.
I think pretty much all you can do is rush Vergil down at the beginning of the round. Unfortunately Morrigan cant even kill vergil off a hit from the beginning of the round unless you use XF. Thats not a great strategy because wesker/vajra can fuck morrigan up as well and both characters can come back.
Vergil/Vajra is truly team scrub. Gives no fucks, has no bad matchups and requires no effort.
The dhc from stalking flare to astral is one of the sexiest things in video game history.
While I know dorm is one of your staples so this wouldn’t matter for you so much personally, do you think theoretically a different char/assist than dorm/hole might help mitigate some of these matchup woes vs ‘team scrub?’ Especially if you put said teammate first with the idea. Of trying to take out vergil early, snapping in strider, or whatever?
Personally, when I run a meter hungry char like morri or doom or vergil, I. Like to put them 2nd anyway, so they can enter either already doing their ‘thing,’ with meters to spare, or both. Though for morri dorm doom, that’s prob already the best order, I’m just speaking in general.

I win against vergil/strider with no issue. The key is dont do too much and punish the obvious mixups. To avoid vajra, dash forward and it will never hit you. dash back and you will get kicked. To deal with swords, soul fist his head, not his body or stay at superjump height. Vergil cant confirm anything at superjump height with swords. Shadowblade and/or finishing shower can punish vajra. Just read the assist call by either hearing it or lookin at the opponents assist icons.
