Well Lars basically dropped off the face of the Earth so I have no real choice but to absolve my participation in organizing MAT V. If someone wants to take the reigns, by all means do so.
I still plan to attend with the GTASF as per usual.

Uh what did you accomplish before you fell out of touch with Lars?
If I remember correctly at one point you said that you were on the ball but looks like you dropped it, however, you’ve conveniently waited til almost mid january (which is usualy the announcement time for MAT) to wash your hands of the whole project and leave the mtlsf community high and dry
Had you not said one thing and done another, the people taking over would actualy have a more comfortable timeframe to work with

Ok seriously though, some people will cheap out and not want to pay the 10$ location fee. But that’s just the feeling I get though. Maybe 5$ location fee and a small % of the pot for funding the place?
This isn’t MY tournament. I do everything I can FROM ANOTHER PROVINCE to help Lars (traditional co-ordinator) out with YOUR tournament. Take a look around the Canadian scene bud. I’m not some rank amateur at these things. I don’t need some guy I’ve never heard of giving me flack because someone local to the scene didn’t keep the lines of communication open.
Lars said he had a location pending, had to move and then we’d finalize things knowing it was going to be console this year. He hasn’t been around, I don’t have local access to locations, so I left it in the hands of MTLSF to get it done. If you can’t hold it in March then do it in April. Hell, Mao wanted to do this in February (less time than I wanted to give from the get go) so don’t tell me jack shit about “conveniently waited” and “more comfortable time frame.”

I’d understand if everyone here were still in high-school and jobless but thats not the case
to my knowledge most of us here work, be it part time of full time, so those who think that a 10$ entry fee for an annual tourney is too much those people shouldn’t be playing videogames in the first place

Nothing prevented you from posting updates on these forums or asking local people to get in touch with Lars and make sure everything was going the right way instead of saying that everything was on track when they obviously weren’t and then wait til mid january to just bail out

We still have time to prepare for MAT, it’s just a matter of finding the best spot to hold this tournament. We can even schedule it in late April.

10$ per person to play all games all day long is a heck of good deal compared to paying 50c per match at that ghetto arcade.
Let me set you straight on a couple of the ins and outs of organizing and directing:
See people like you represent what people like me call a headache. You have an opinion on everything. You think that your input really makes a difference in the big picture of organizing a tournament. See if I put out every decision I made concerning GTASF monthlies (which outdraw Montreal’s “major” mind you) or even Canada’s major every year to the people for input, it would never get off the ground. It’s not that that the players don’t have valid input, it’s that everyone has an opinion and no one really settles on a decision. In the end you have organizers like me to make tough decisions because if left in the hands of the players, it’d be a disaster.
Concerning MAT V and your point about contacting Lars. I have channels by which I tried to contact lars locally and they didn’t pan out. Not everything goes through SRK. I used what resources I had at my disposal before making the decision to hand it over to local players to organize. The timeline isn’t relevant. If I made the decision a month prior with no indication from Lars that something would be a problem, it would have caused a rift between myself and the established director of Montreal’s major. Shades of grey and all that fun stuff.
Lastly, you might want to pull your head out of your ignorant ass. How dare you talk to me about “directoral ineptitude.” Do you know who the fuck I am? I organize the NATIONAL SF CHAMPIONSHIPS. I have overseen a team of dedicated people for the last three years in creating the single biggest SF tournament Canada has ever seen. I am the reason you have players from across this country flying here every July. I am the reason that Canada and Empire Arcadia work together to bring the best talent on the east coast to Toronto every year. When you put in the time, the money, the promotion, the long drives, the long talks with other players, the non stop bitching and moaning from players with no clue, you tell me about “directoral ineptitude.” Don’t you ever fucking tell me how to direct.
