i really think madcatz proposely make their pads crap so you feel like you have to go out and buy their sticks
^ you’re crazy
Awesome comparative review from MLG community:
So THAT’s how the case straps are supposed to be used. Completely didn’t know that. I’ll have to give that a try, but I’d still be nervous about the face plates in the mesh pouch.
I’m gonna hold MadCatz to the ‘alternative modules will be available for purchase’ statement. I’m gonna tear into these dpads to see if I can make the cross pad have the feel and diagonal response of the PS3 module. Wish me luck.
Heh, yeah. You can position the case sections to give the extra controller bits a pretty tight fit, but I agree, when I lug around the controller in the base I’ll take out the extra face plates and set em aside somewhere safe. I can see keeping the sticks/dpads on hand, but I dont see any real need to carry two sets of face plates, so that doesnt bother me at all.
Looking forward to seeing what you find once you tear into yours!
Also, anyone notice that the PS3-style convex tops are screw-on?
Great opportunity for a ball or bat top mod (MarkMan, you guys have one of those coming, or should we start tinkering?) for classic arcade gaming when you don’t feel like dragging out the fightstick.
So whats the verdict on this. I was thinking of picking one up because of the need to have a wired controller for all ps3 majors. is this legit for fighters?
Im not much of a pad warrior, but I wouldnt recommend it. The PS3 style dpad, feels way too sensitive and inconsistent with diagonals to me, and the 360 version feels was too insensitive with diagonals. I think you’d be better served trying for one of the ‘FightPad’ line instead, and its far cheaper to boot.
Those are terrible (the fightpad), I even have one. I hate it. Is it sensitive as register everything or is drops inputs?
360 version has a very narrow window for diagonals; cardinals are easy, diagonals are hard. The PS3 version dpad has the opposite problem; its too easy to hit diagonals when you meant for a cardinal.
Cardinal, sorry not familar with the term. I really just need a controller with ps3 dpad for majors. I refuse to use a ps2 since those converters are shit and fucked me at evo. With training myself to get used to it, would these controllers work? I’m a very precise player…would this help or hinder my decision
I get the impression you’re not listening. Buy what you want to buy, play on what you want to play on. You asked for an opinion, and I’ve given it to the best of my ability. If you’d like a second opinion, sit tight, hopefully someone else will chime in with theirs.
Perhaps you should have researched your converter selection first. There’s actually a large thread on it here in TT, I suggest scoping it out. InPin and Xtokki come to mind right now.
As to this controller, I haven’t picked one up yet but I might just to give the pad warrior’s opinion on it. Then again, a brand new fightpad has a pretty responsive Dpad, albeit you are correct Toodles the diagonals do require more force. I got used to it because I play charge characters, but it’s definitely there. I’m sure the 360 Dpad insert for this is similar.
What if we don’t use the d-pad for fighters?? I’m just wondering if the xbox analog stick for the ps3 version feels the same as a regular one or maybe is a bit looser.
Guys… sorry I haven’t been here in awhile… But I want to know your opinion on this video:

looks svette.
Got the controller recently and have been putting it to work in MW3 for the 360. Nice solid controller and I like using the PS3 thumbsticks. Any word on when alternate thumbsticks will be available? I saw somewhere there may be variable tension thumbsticks available (adjustable like the Onza?).
We’re working on the alternate thumbsticks now.
any feedback from 360 analog players using this for fighters?
Hey MarkMan, can you please explain why the ps3 version does not have rumble and sixasis. It seems that Sony always gets the short end of the stick with everything.
